Taking Chances - Shane Walsh x Reader (Reuested)
Not sure why I never posted this on here, but here it is! This was a request from WattPad.
Tumblr media
In this new world, people were lucky if they could find a friend, let alone their family. You were lucky in that aspect because when the outbreak hit, you were able to escape with your mom, brother, and your dad’s friend Shane. You were eventually reunited with your dad, Rick, who everyone thought was dead.  As time went on, your mom spent less time with Shane and more time with your dad. This was fine with you because you had a bit of a crush on Shane. He would always goof around with you and give you a hard time. Even though you were only twenty-two years old, you could still see yourself being with Shane. Of course, dating in this world was an entirely different story, and you weren’t going to try and making dating the center of your life right now.
One day after breakfast, you were helping Carol clean up the dishes and get the laundry ready. You were getting all of your clothes out of the tent you shared with Carl when you felt two large hands grab your arms from behind.
You let out a yelp and turned around to see Shane smiling down at you. “Shane you scared the shit out of me.” You said.
“Hey watch your language.” He smirked, trying to stifle a laugh.
You smirked and shook your head. “You can’t tell me what to do.” You added, grabbing the basket of clothes.
“But you like it when I do.” He winked at you.
You smiled and shook your head. “In your dreams, Walsh.” You teased and walked over to Carol’s tent.
Shane watched you as you followed Carol to Hershel’s house where he had a few basins where you could wash clothes. You sat on an old lawn chair next to Carol who was sitting on a tree stump. You each grabbed some clothes and started washing. The two of you made some small talk as you both cleaned the clothes. Eventually the conversation shifted to something that you deeply wanted advice on.
“Can I ask you something, Carol?” you asked as you scrubbed one of your dad’s shirts. You had absolutely no idea how his shirts always got so dirty, but they did.
“Sure.” She smiled over at you. “What’s on your mind?”
You bit your bottom lip and then sighed softly. “Well can you promise that you won’t repeat anything I say here to my parents?” you asked.
Carol looked at you and nodded. “I promise. As long as you’re not hurting yourself or anyone else.” She said, her maternal side showing.
You nodded. “I think I’m in love with someone.” You said. “He’s older than me but I would like to think I’m mature enough to be with him if he felt the same way. I just don’t know if it’s really worth it to try these days, you know?”
Carol smiled softly and nodded. “Well it all depends on how you want to live this new life. If you want to keep hope alive and hold onto as much normalcy as you can, then talk to Shane about it. If you want to live without taking chances, then don’t talk to him about it. Judging by the way he acts around you, I’m almost positive that he likes you too.” She said.
You looked at her for a moment before you realized something; you never said that you were talking about Shane. “How did you know I was talking about Shane?” you asked.
“I’m a mom, Y/N. Plus it’s not like the two of you keep it under wraps.” She smiled as she cleaned the clothes in her basin.
You looked over at her and smiled shaking your head. “How long have you known this?”
“Pretty much since the day your dad came back.” She smiled.
You shook your head and smiled. “Great.” She said.
The two of you continued to talk and wash clothes for a little while before a familiar face showed up next to you both. Shane stood there with his thumb looped into his front pocket.
“Hey, Shane.” Carol smiled up at him.
“Carol.” He nodded to her. “Y/N, can I borrow you for a little bit? I’ve got something I need some help with.” He said.
“I can help you after the laundry.” You started.
“I can handle the laundry.” Carol smiled over at you. “You go help Shane, I’ve got it covered here.”
You looked at her and then smiled. “Okay.” You said and stood up, drying your hands off. “Let’s go.” You said.
Shane walked with you towards the tents, not saying much to you. He walked you past the tents and towards the horse stables. He led you behind the stables and across a patch of grassy area, and then took you just inside the wooded area, where you could still see the camp, but it was harder for people to see you. You looked up at Shane and bit your bottom lip.
“We didn’t come out here because you needed help, did we?” you asked him.
“No.” he said and rubbed the back of his neck. “Y/N, I was walking towards you and Carol to try and see if you guys needed help.” He said.
You felt a knot in your stomach as you figured out where this conversation was most likely headed. “Yeah?” you said softly.
He looked at you for a moment. “I heard what you said to Carol about your feelings towards me.” He said.
You looked at him for a moment before your spoke. “Shane…look if you don’t feel that way just tell me now, please?” you said softly.
He looked at you before smirking some. “Y/N, you know I like you, I like you so much it’s probably love.” He said softly. You don’t remember a time when you saw Shane this soft and vulnerable. “But if your parents ever found out about that, they’d take me out behind the barn and shoot me.” He said softly.
“That’s bullshit.” You said, earning a stern look from Shane. “I’m an adult, Shane, and they can’t control who I fall in love with.” You said. “I’m not going to throw away a chance to be happy in this hell we’re living in just because my parents might be mad. This world is about taking chances and if we’re not doing that, then why are we even here?” you asked him.
He stared at you for a moment in total awe. Before you had the chance to say anything else, Shane grabbed the back of your neck and pulled your lips against his.
After the initial shock wore off, you melted into the kiss and held the collar of his shirt. His free hand went to your lower back and pulled you flush against him. You wrapped your arms around his neck and deepened the kiss, letting out a small moan.
When the two of you needed air, he pulled back gently and looked down at you, gently grabbing your hair in his hand. “I wanna take a chance with you.” he said softly.
You rubbed the side of his neck with your thumb and nodded. “Me too.” You said and smiled. “We’ll deal with my parents later.” You added.
Shane nodded and kissed you gently. “I love you, Y/N.” he said, barely above a whisper.
“I love you too.” You smiled up at him.
Taking chances; that’s what this new world is about.

Update.
I know that I said I was going to be more active on these blogs, but I haven’t and I’m sorry about that. I haven’t had much inspiration, and I have been working on writing my first comic.
I’m considering making an actual writing account on here, making the hockey blog the main one, and the fandom stories can be the sideblog. Would you guys follow me over there?

Note
I just really like how the relationship develops. It's not too slow or too fast. It's perfect
Ahh I’m glad! I always worry about timing and how quickly or slowly things should move. I’m so glad to hear that it’s the right speed!

The Truth - Chapter Twelve
I’m not sure how I feel about this chapter. :3 I really hope you guys like it!
Tumblr media
It had been a couple of hours since Rick left on the run, and you were getting nervous about your talk with him. You had been helping Daryl with a few odd jobs and helped Maggie start the clearing of the new crop area. When you walked back towards your house to get a water bottle, you saw the gate open and the truck pull in with Rick in the driver’s seat. The very moment you saw him, your stomach dropped to your feet and you felt your nerves picking up. You walked to your house and went inside before he could see you.
You grabbed a bottle of water and sighed, taking a drink. “You wanted this, Y/N, why are you so nervous?” you spoke to yourself. “It’s just Rick, you know Rick and you like Rick.” You said and then bit your bottom lip. “You like Rick.” You said again, but softer this time.
You drank your water and worked up enough courage to go meet with Rick. As you headed for the door, you heard a knock and your heartbeat picked up. After a few deep breaths, you opened the door and let out a sigh of relief when you saw Glenn standing there.
“Hey, Rick wants to see you.” he said.
“Oh, okay.” You said. “Where is he?” you asked.
“He said to meet him at his house whenever you’re ready.” Glenn said.
           “Okay, thanks.” You said.
“No problem.” He said and walked off to meet up with Maggie.
You took a deep breath and walked over to Rick’s house. You walked up the porch steps and felt your stomach doing flips. You knocked gently and bit your bottom lip, trying to calm yourself down. After a few minutes, the door opened and Carl stood there, holding Judith in his arms.
           “Hey, Y/N.” he said.
“Hey, is your dad around?” you asked.
“He’s upstairs changing, but you can wait inside.” He said and let you inside. “I’m taking Judith for a walk; can you let my dad know?” Carl asked.
           “Sure.” You smiled.
“Thanks. See you later.” He said and waved to you, walking out of the house.
You waved back to him and sat on the couch. Now that you were here, you started to feel your nerves calming down. Just as you got comfortable, you heard footsteps coming down the stairs followed by Rick’s voice.
           “Where’d Carl go?” he asked.
Nerves are back. “Uh he went for a walk with Judith.” You said and stood up off of the couch.
Rick nodded and put his hands on his hips. “So you wanted to talk?” he asked.
You nodded and bit your bottom lip. “I want to know why you’re so strict on me. Ever since the accident, you haven’t let me do much to help around here or anything. When I ask to help you just avoid the subject or ignore me and I’m sick of it. Maggie said her father lost his leg and you let him do things. Why are you so protective over me?” you asked, catching your breath.
Rick looked at you and shrugged lightly. “Because I care about you.” he said simply.
You looked at him and opened your mouth to argue with him, but you realized what he just said. “You…you what?” you asked.
“I care about you, Y/N. I probably care about you more than I should, but I can’t help it.” Rick said.
“Well I care about you too, I care about everyone here, but that doesn’t mean I can boss them around and keep them hidden from the world.” You said, crossing your arms.
“Y/N.” Rick said with a smile threatening the corners of his lips. “I care about you more than I care about Glenn or Eugene.” He said, raising his eyebrows trying to get you to understand what he was getting at.
You looked at him for a minute. “Why? I just got here.” You said trying to figure out what he was saying. Was he getting at what you thought he was getting at?
Rick rubbed the back of his neck and sighed softly. “I thought it was kind of obvious.” He said.
You looked at him for a minute and put your hands at your side. Obvious? Well obviously it wasn’t that obvious if you hadn’t noticed whatever he was talking about. “Wait.” You said, coming to the realization of what he was talking about; He liked you. All those times that you could have sworn that he was staring at you, the reason he got so freaked out over the accident, maybe even the reason he decided to take you in. Rick liked you and he was trying to tell you that.
“Maybe I should show you.” Rick said and stepped forward so he was standing right in front of you.
“Sh-show me?” you tried to say, but it ended up as a whisper.
Rick nodded and put his hands on the sides of your neck, leaning down and placing his lips against yours.
Your eyes stayed open for a moment until you processed what was happening; he was kissing you. You closed your eyes and returned the kiss, putting your hands on his chest gently. When he pulled away for air, you looked up at him. “Oh.”
           “Oh?” Rick smirked.
“It wasn’t a bad oh, I just…I get what you were trying to tell me.” You said softly.
“Oh.” He said and smiled. He pushed a stray wisp of hair behind your ear and rubbed your cheek softly. “I’m sorry for kind of throwing this at you like that.” He said.
“Don’t be sorry.” You said. “I’m sorry for snapping at you, I just thought that you were…I don’t know what I thought, I just wanted to understand I guess.” You explained.
Rick nodded. “Well now you know.” He said. “I was scared to let you out there with me, and then for him to bring you back bleeding and pale as a ghost, I was terrified. I think that’s what kind of made me realize what I was feeling.” He said.
“Really?” you asked him. “How so?” you asked.
He shrugged and sat on the couch, letting you sit next to him. “When I first met you, I saw this scared young woman who I didn’t think would survive much longer the way she was going.”
“Gee, thanks.” You teased, smirking at him.
Rick smirked and nodded, looking at his lap. “Then when I brought you here, I saw how you were with everyone and how easily they accepted you. Something about you is so warm and mesmerizing.” Rick said and looked at you. “I thought that maybe I was just stuck in a hero syndrome, but as I got to know you, the feelings I had grew stronger and stronger. I kept trying to tell myself that it was just the excitement of a new woman here and that I was too old for you.” he said sheepishly.
You smiled softly and shook your head. “You’re not too old for me, Rick.” You reassured him.
He nodded and smirked. “Well thank you.” he said. He shook his head some and leaned back on the couch. “When you came back that day with Daryl, I couldn’t deny what I was feeling. The fear I had when I saw you that way, and the anger I had for whoever shot out the tires; I knew that what I felt for you was more than just caring. I liked you and there wasn’t any way around it.” He said.
You nodded and bit your bottom lip. “I kind felt the same way. I was worried that I was falling for the forbidden fruit or something.” You admitted and looked at your hands.
Rick looked at you. “Why would I be forbidden fruit?” he asked.
“Well Carl told me what happened with Jessie and I didn’t want to—’’
“Jessie’s gone.” Rick said simply. “Besides that wasn’t anything serious anyway.” He said and looked at his hands. “I guess that sounds kind of harsh.”
You looked at him. “Well as long as you’re okay and you’ve moved on and everything.” You said softly.
“I am, and I have.” Rick said and looked at you. “I really do like you, Y/N.” he said and leaned in, kissing you gently again.
You kissed back and smiled up at him. “I really like you too, Rick.” You said softly. “So where does that leave us?” you asked him.
“Well I’d like to see you a lot more.” He said, putting his hand on yours. “Maybe you could move in here, if you’d like.” He said softly.
You smiled and held his hand gently. “Rick, I’d love to move in and stay here with you, but maybe we should wait. I mean what if Carl hates this idea?” you asked softly. “I don’t want to come between you and him, that’s not my intention at all.”
Rick kissed the back of your hand. “Carl will be fine with it.” He said. “But if you want to wait, we’ll wait.” He said. “I’ll talk to him tomorrow and then we can meet up.” He said.
“Thank you.” you said and smiled softly.
           “Thank you.” Rick said.
           “For what?” you asked.
“Not thinking I’m crazy or thinking I’m moving too quickly or anything.” Rick said. “I know it was kind of sudden.” He added.
“It’s not that sudden.” You said. “I mean we’ve known each other for a month now. Plus, these days you have to take chances and not waste any time.” You added.
Rick nodded and smiled softly at you. “I guess that’s our new reality.” He said.
You nodded and smiled. “I better head home to clean up before dinner.” You said.
Rick stood up with you and walked you to the door. He wrapped his arms around you, hugging you close. “I’ll see you later, okay?” he asked.
You hugged him back and smiled up at him, nodding. “Okay.”
“I’m sorry for getting so protective over you.” Rick said. “I was kind of being an ass.” He said.
“No, Rick you were just looking out for someone you care about. I would have done the same thing. You just wouldn’t have listened to me.” You smirked.
Rick smiled and nodded. “Yeah, probably not.” He said. “I’ll see you later, Y/N.” he said and kissed you.
You kissed back and smiled. “See you later.” You said.
You walked out of Rick’s house and walked towards your own to get showered and changed before dinner. When you got inside, you let out a content and happy sigh. When you headed over to Rick’s that day, you were scared of what was going to happen. You had no idea that this would be the outcome, not that you were complaining. Rick liked you and Rick kissed you. I suppose if this was a pre-apocalypse thing, you two would be dating. The only thing that worried you was what Carl would think. You were only six years older than him, so maybe you being with his dad would be a little weird for him. Although, he did say that you made Rick happy, so maybe he was okay with it already.
After you took your shower, you got a pair of shorts on and a V-neck t-shirt. Just as you put your shoes on, you heard a loud crash followed by yelling and gun shots. You looked outside and saw that some walkers had broken into the small barrier you and Maggie had set up to block out the new crop area.
“Shit.” You mumbled as you grabbed your knife.
You ran outside to help Aaron, Daryl, and Maggie, who had all started to take out the walkers that broke in. I guess you got to help today after all.

We Always Keep Fighting - Chapter Nine
Sorry I haven’t updated this one in a while. I finally got enough inspiration to finish this chapter.
A few days had passed since Riley and Dean were given their jobs, and they were fitting in very nicely. Riley felt comfortable working with Maggie and Carol, and even Dean started to let his guard down a little. Today was going to be the first run that Dean was going on with the other group members, so Riley was a little nervous. She walked with him to the cars where Rick was standing with Daryl, Glenn, and Michonne. She stood next to Dean while he got his gun loaded, looking over to Rick.
“You’ll take care of him, right?” she half-joked.
Rick smirked and nodded. “Daryl will.” He said.
Riley looked at him. “You’re not going?” she asked. She trusted that Dean could handle himself, but she still felt a little nervous about Rick not being on the run with him.
“I’m gonna stay here and work on a few things around here. Daryl, Glenn and Michonne are going instead, so he’ll have plenty of backup.” Rick said, putting his hand on Riley’s shoulder.
Riley nodded and looked at Dean who was putting his gun in the holster. “Be careful, please?” she said softly.
Dean smirked and nodded. “I’m always careful.” He said. “You behave.” He said and pulled her into a hug.
Riley hugged him tightly and nodded. “See you when you get back.” She said.
“I’ll be back before you know it.” He said and kissed her head. “I love you.” he said.
“Love you more.” Riley smiled softly.
Dean smirked and got into the truck with the others. Rick opened the gate for them and when they drove out, he shut the gate back up. Riley stood by the other cars and watched as the truck disappeared from her view. Rick walked over to her and nudged her arm gently.
“Why don’t you come help me with a few things? It’ll keep your mind busy.” He suggested.
Riley looked up at him and nodded. “Sure.” She smiled softly and walked with him.
He took her to his house and walked with her inside. He grabbed a few supplies and threw them into a backpack. As he did so, he looked up at Riley who had her hands in her back pockets.
“Have you eaten anything today?” he asked.
Riley looked over at him. “I was too nervous to eat.” She admitted.
Rick smiled softly and nodded. “Alright well then the first job is going to be lunch.” He said and put the backpack on the couch. “What are you hungry for?” he asked her.
Riley walked into the kitchen with him. “I’m up for anything.” She said and sat at the kitchen table.
“Peanut butter and jelly it is.” He smirked and got out the sandwich ingredients. He made them each a sandwich and put some canned peaches on the plates as well. He walked over and put a plate in front of Riley and sat across from her with his plate.
“Thank you.” she smiled and took a bite of the sandwich. “So what kind of jobs are we going to do today?” she asked.
Rick swallowed the bite of sandwich he had in his mouth before he answered her. “To be honest, I pulled together as many odd jobs as I could to keep you occupied.” He said.
Riley smiled and nodded. “You don’t have to do that. If there are more important things to be done; then put those first.” She said.
Rick nodded and smirked. “Well how about I come help you today?” he suggested. “I kind of cleared my day to make sure you were okay.” He admitted sheepishly.
Riley felt a flutter in her stomach when Rick said that. She smiled and nodded. “Okay.” She said. “Sure.” She added.
Rick smirked and finished his lunch with Riley before cleaning up. When he finished, he followed Riley to the large area of crops that had been planted. Riley grabbed a basket that had some gardening tools and then headed out to gather some vegetables and herbs. When she got to a spot, she got down on her knees and started picking some cucumbers and tomatoes.
Rick knelt down next to her and started to help her. “Maybe we can make up a salad tonight.” He smirked.
“Oh yeah, just salad for dinner.” Riley smiled. “I think Carol had something planned; she said Daryl found a deer.”
Rick nodded. “Well I’ll help you cook tonight.” He said.
“Thank you.” Riley smiled and put the vegetables in the basket.
“No problem.” He said and put some cucumbers in the basket. “So what did you do before all of this?” he asked, trying to start up a conversation.
“I was kind of a hunter’s helper.” She said and smiled softly. “Dean and Sam are hunters and I would help research for them and get information.” She said.
Rick nodded. “What did they hunt?” he asked.
Riley opened her mouth to tell him, but then stopped. Would Rick even believe her if she told him the real things that Dean and Sam hunted? “Deer mostly, sometimes ducks and fish.” She covered. “I would find the spots where there was a lot of activity.” She added.
Rick nodded again. “Well that’s nice of you.” he said. “Did you ever hunt with them?”
Riley thought back to a hunt where she went along to help and ended up taking down a vampire. Maybe she should just leave that part out. “A couple of times, I wasn’t very good at it, though. I hated seeing the animals go.”
“Well good thing this isn’t some sort of bunny apocalypse then.” He smirked.
She smiled and looked over at him. “Yeah, I guess so.” She said. “So you were a sheriff before all of this?” she asked.
“Yes ma’am, I was.” He smirked.
The two talked about their lives before the outbreak and talked about the things they missed the most. When the basket was full of vegetables, they walked to Rick’s house to get them cleaned off for dinner that night, which would be held at his house. Riley started cleaning them off while Rick got a bowl out to put the cleaned vegetables in. He looked at her as she washed them off and took a shot in the dark when he asked her something he had wondered since they met.
“Are you and Sam together?” he asked, looking at his hands for a moment before looking back at her.
“Together?” she asked, looking at him. “Oh, like dating?” she asked. “No, we’re just good friends.” She said and turned the faucet off. “I mean I love them both to death, but it’s not like that.” She said.
Rick felt a feeling of relief inside of him, and then felt a little guilty for feeling that way. “I can tell you care about them and they care about you.” Rick said.
Riley nodded and smiled softly. “They do.” She said, drying off her hands and grabbing the basket. “Ready for round two?” she asked.
           “Ready.” Rick smiled.
The two walked back out to the garden and continued collecting vegetables for meals. When they finished, Carol brought the deer meat over to start cooking. Rick told her to take the night off since he was going to be cooking with Riley. The two of them cooked and got the meat in the oven before taking a break and sitting on the porch. Rick gave Riley a bottle of water and sat next to her on the stairs.
“Thank you for all your help today.” She said and took a drink of water. “It was nice to have some company out there.”
Rick nodded. “Anytime.” He said and drank his own water. “They should be getting back anytime now.” He added.
Riley nodded and looked at the gates waiting for them to open and the truck to come back. “I hope so.” She said softly.
After their break, there was still no sign of the truck. Rick had Riley set the table as he got the food set out, trying to keep her occupied. She kept peering out the window to see if they were back, but there was no sign of them. She crossed her arms and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. Rick noticed and walked over to her, touching her back gently.
“Why don’t you go round everyone up for dinner? I’ve got it covered here.” He said softly.
“Okay.” She said and walked out of the house.
She went to each house to tell everyone that dinner was just about ready. When she got to everyone, she walked over to the gate where Sasha was now watching the gate.
“Any sign of the truck yet?” she asked.
Sasha shook her head. “Not yet. Sometimes runs go a little longer than expected; it’s nothing to be concerned about.” She gave a light smile. “When they come back, I’ll have them come right over to Rick’s.” she said.
“Okay, thank you Sasha.” Riley said and headed back to Rick’s house.
Everyone sat down to eat and Riley stayed pretty quiet the whole time. She bounced her leg under the table, trying to remain calm. It was dark out now and Dean had yet to return with the others. Rick noticed how nervous she was, and after dinner he pulled her aside.
“I told Carol to have Carl help her with the cleanup.” He said. “Why don’t we go watch for them, okay?”
Riley looked up at him and nodded. “Okay.” She said.
Rick walked with her to the gate and told Sasha to go eat along with Abraham, who was in the lookout. He stood next to Riley, looking out through the gate. She bit her lip and played with the hem of her shirt while she waited.
“They’re going to get back here.” Rick said softly, putting his hand on her shoulder.
Riley looked up at him and nodded, trying to mask the fear in her eyes. “Okay.” She said softly.
Rick gave her shoulder a light squeeze and then saw headlights coming down the road. “That might be them.” He said and stood over by the opening of the gate to pull it open.
Riley stepped to the side and when she saw the signal, the flashing of the truck’s high-beams, she let out a breath. “Thank God.” She whispered.
Rick pulled the gate open and let the truck drive in. Glenn and Michonne were in the cab of the truck while Daryl sat in the bed of the truck, making sure the supplies they brought back didn’t fly away. Riley looked at the members of the group, but couldn’t see Dean.
Glenn and Michonne hopped out of the truck and opened the back up so Daryl could come down.
“We got a little more than we expected.” Daryl said, hopping out of the truck.
Rick looked at Riley, who was staring at the truck. “Riley?” he asked.
“Where is he?” she asked. “Where’s Dean?” she asked.
Glenn opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, there was another flash of high-beams behind the gate.
Rick looked over and walked to the gate, squinting his eyes at the small four door car. When he saw who was behind the wheel, he smirked. “There he is.” He muttered and opened the gate.
Michonne helped Daryl and Glenn get the supplies to the storage room. Glenn stopped by Riley and gave her a smile. “He’s safe.” He said and headed to the storage room.
Riley looked over at the small car and saw Dean climb out of the driver’s seat. “Dean.” She breathed out.
Dean smiled and shook Rick’s hand. “Sorry for being a little late. We found this little car and thought we could use it.” He said. “It just took a little longer than we thought to get it up and running.”
Rick nodded, shaking Dean’s hand. “Well thank you. Glad you’re back.” He said.
Riley walked over and wrapped her arms around Dean’s waist, hugging him tight. “I thought you didn’t make it back.” She whispered into his chest.
Dean held her close in a warm hug and smiled softly. “I promised I’d come back, didn’t I?” he said.
She nodded and looked up at him. “You always keep your promises.” She said and smiled up at him.
“Always.” He smiled and winked at her.
Rick smirked and nodded. “Why don’t you take Dean inside to eat? I’ll help them get the supplies in.” he said to Riley.
“Okay.” She said and walked with Dean towards Rick’s house. She stopped and then turned around, walking back to Rick. She hugged him and smiled. “Thank you for keeping me busy today.”
Rick hugged her back and smiled. “It’s my pleasure.” He said. “Go on with Dean.” He smiled.
Riley nodded and waved to Rick before jogging over to Dean again.
Rick watched as she went back with Dean to get him some dinner. He bit his bottom lip as he watched her light up when she saw that Dean was safe. She had a beautiful smile, and it could make anyone around her smile too. Rick sighed softly, trying to shake the thoughts of admiration that he had for Riley. She was younger than him, and he had no idea if she could even be interested in someone like him. Too bad those feelings he tried to shake would only grow as time went on.

Confrontation - Chapter Eleven
Tumblr media
When you woke up the next day, you could hardly wait to get over to the infirmary so Maggie could check on your stitches. You were more than ready to get them out and get back to going on runs with the group. After you got some shorts and a t-shirt on, you slid your boots on and grabbed an apple, heading over to the infirmary. As you walked, you took a bite of your apple, wiping the juices from your chin with the back of your hand.
“Y/N.” a voice called from behind you.
You turned and saw Rick walking over to you. “Hey. I was just heading to the infirmary to meet Maggie.” You said.
“Yeah she said she was on her way over. I’ll walk you over there.” Rick said and walked next to you. “How is your leg?” he asked.
“It’s better.” You said, walking towards the infirmary. “Once she takes the stitches out, can I go on the run with you guys today?”
Rick bit his bottom lip and looked ahead at the infirmary where Maggie was standing on the porch waiting for you both. “Hey, are you ready?” he asked, changing the subject.
You looked at him and then at Maggie, forcing a smile on your face. “I’m ready for these things to come out.” You said.
“Well let’s get it checked out and then we’ll see about getting them out.” Maggie smiled and let you and Rick inside.
Maggie grabbed a few supplies and got a bed set up for you. Rick helped you onto the bed and stood back so he wasn’t in the way. While Maggie gathered the supplies to clean your wound and take the stitches out if they were ready. You tapped your foot mindlessly as you waited for her to get started.
“Can you pull your shorts up just a little?” Maggie asked, turning to you with an alcohol swab.
“Sure.” You said and pulled the fabric of your shorts up to reveal the top of your injury. “Is that gonna sting?” you asked softly.
“It will probably sting quite a bit.” Maggie said with apologetic eyes.
You nodded and looked over at Rick, holding your hand out.
Rick smirked and walked over, taking your hand in his and standing next to the bed. “Squeeze as tightly as you’d like.” He said.
You nodded and held onto his hand, nodding to Maggie.
She cleaned the wound gently, and as soon as the swab hit your cut, you winced, squeezing Rick’s hand. You closed your eyes tightly and tried to think of anything but the stinging pain on your thigh.
“I’m sorry, it’s almost done.” Maggie said, taking the swab off. “Okay, that’s it.” She said.
You let out a breath that you didn’t realize you were holding, and let go of Rick’s hand. “Thank you.” you said. “Can the stitches come out?”
Rick looked at the cut and then at Maggie. “It doesn’t quite look ready to me.” He said.
“Rick.” You said, almost sounding annoyed.
Maggie gave a small smile and looked at your wound again. “They can come out as long as she’s ready. We can put some small bandages on there to keep it from opening, but it’s looking good.”
You smiled at Rick and then at Maggie. “Take ‘em on out.” You said and tried to keep still.
Rick sighed and nodded, walking to the other side of the bed so he was out of the way again.
Maggie grabbed a few tools and began taking the stitches out. Besides a few tugs here and there, the stitch removal was quite painless. When she was finished, she smiled up at you.
“Good as new.” She said. “Let me put a few small butterfly bandages on there to keep things secure and then you can go.” She said and put the tools in the sink to be cleaned.
“Thank you so much.” She said.
“I can get the bandages.” Rick offered and grabbed the box from one of the cabinets.
You watched as Rick walked to the cabinets and then walked back, examining the box of bandages. He dumped them onto the bed next to you so he could get to them easier. He got one opened and gently put it onto your cut.
“Here.” You said and opened the other ones for him.
“Thank you.” he smirked and put the bandages on your cut as you opened them.
You loved the way that his rough hands were so gentle when he touched you. He treated you like you were going to break at any moment.
“Last one.” He said and put the last bandage on and looked at you. “You’re good to go.”
You smiled and almost leapt off of the bed. “Thank God!” you said and threw away the bandage garbage. “So can I…” you started.
“I’m going to get Glenn and Rosita prepped for the run. Will you go tell Daryl to meet me at the gate?” Rick said, looking at you as he headed for the door.
           “Rick…” you said.
“Thank you.” he said and disappeared out the door.
You sighed and looked at Maggie for any sort of advice.
“He’ll come around.” She said and pat you on the shoulder gently.
You walked out of the infirmary and headed toward Daryl’s house to tell him where to meet Rick. When you got there, Daryl was walking out of the house with his crossbow on his shoulder. He looked over at you and walked down the porch stairs.
“Did Maggie take your stitches out?” Daryl asked you.
You nodded and gave him a soft smile. “Yep.” You said, walking towards him and stopping in front of him.
“I thought you’d be doing flips after you got ‘em out.” He said.
You shrugged some. “I would, but I don’t think Officer Grimes will let me.” You said, almost mumbling.
Daryl looked over at you with an eyebrow raised. “He still got the reigns around you?” he asked.
“Yeah.” You said. “Speaking of Rick, he wants you to meet him by the gates.” You said.
           “Why?” he asked.
You shrugged. “Maybe it’s about the run.” You suggested.
Daryl nodded. “Walk with me.” He said and walked towards the gates.
You looked at him and followed him, catching up to him and letting out a sigh. “I don’t get why he won’t let me do anything. I’m doing just fine.” You said.
“He just cares about you.” Daryl said. “He lost a lot of people…probably doesn’t want you to be another.” He noted.
You looked at Daryl for a moment and then looked ahead as the two of you got to the gates. Why was everyone telling you that? Not too far back, you were just a stranger in some house that he found. Now he cares all about you?
When you got to the gates, you put your hands on your hips as Rick talked to Daryl about watching Alexandria while he went on the run. Daryl nodded and headed back towards the houses. Glenn and Rosita were already in the truck and Rick turned to you and opened his mouth to speak, but you interrupted him.
“Can I go on the run? My stitches are out and I’m doing fine.” You said.
Rick sighed and looked at you. “Y/N, I don’t want you out there. I’m not going to let you go out there.”
“Let me?” you snapped. “What makes you think that you’re in control of me?” you asked, crossing your arms.
“I don’t control you, but if you’re going to stay here, you’re going to follow my rules.” Rick said to you.
“Oh that is such a crock of shit.” You said. “You haven’t let me do anything since the accident; I’m not this fragile little infant that you need to constantly protect.”
Rick looked at you and clenched his jaw before he spoke again. “This conversation is over.” He said and got into the driver’s seat of the truck.
“No it isn’t, Rick.” You said and stood next to the driver’s door, speaking in the window. “We’re not done, and when you get back I want answers, damn it.” You spat.
Rick looked at you and took a deep breath. “Fine.” He said and motioned for Eugene to open the gate. “When I get back.” He said.
You watched as Rick drove the truck out of the gates which closed soon after the truck was out of sight. You shook your head and walked in the direction that Daryl headed to see if you could help him. As you walked, you kept replaying the words that you and Rick spoke to each other. Maybe you were a little harsh? No, you weren’t being harsh, you wanted answers and you had every right to get them. You sighed, hoping that your minor dictator moment towards Rick didn’t alter his image of you. If anything, you hoped that it made him realize that you could be a leader too. You got a few jobs from Daryl to keep you occupied while you waited for Rick to get back so you could talk to him. You contemplated apologizing to him, but at the same time, you were in the right. Right? Maybe you would see how the conversation went before you apologize. Good plan. Now all you had to do was wait.

The Maid (James Patrick March x Reader) [AHS] requested
I really hope you guys like this one!
Tumblr media
From the moment you walked into the Hotel Cortez, you felt there was something off about the whole place. You know that feeling that you get sometimes where you feel like someone is watching you? The very minute you walked into the Cortez, you had that feeling until you left the building. You hadn't been one to believe in ghosts or the paranormal, but in this place you were second guessing your beliefs. You heard there was a job opening for a new maid, so you decided to apply. Before you could even set the application on the desk, the older woman at the front desk smiled at you.
"You're hired." She said. "You start tomorrow morning, be here at eight sharp." She said.
You looked at her for a moment. "You didn't even look at my application." You said softly.
"I know you'll be right for the job. You're just what the owner is looking for." She said, looking over your shoulder and giving a smirk, as if she was looking at someone.
"Okay." You said. "I'll be here tomorrow." You said and grabbed your keys off of the desk. "Thank you." you said to the woman.
"No, thank you." she smiled.
You gave her a weird look and headed back outside to your car. You drove home to get ready for work the next day. You still had no idea how you got the job so easily, and you had no idea why you were getting strange feelings in the hotel, either. Tomorrow was going to be an adventure.
The next day, you got on a pair of jeans and a red polo. You slid on some sneakers and drove over to the Cortez. When you walked in, you saw the woman at the front desk again, and she smiled over at you.
"Welcome back. Your uniform is in the employee lounge on the second floor. You'll probably need this." She said and pulled out a large ring of keys for each room. "It's best to hang it on your cart, it's fairly heavy." She smirked.
"Thanks." You said and took the ring of keys. She wasn't lying, the keys were pretty heavy.
You headed to the elevator and pressed the button with the two on it. When you got to the second floor, you walked down to the employee lounge and went to open the door. Before you could turn the doorknob, the door opened on its own. You gasped slightly and stepped back, looking at the door. No one was in the room, so no one could have opened the door.
You pushed the door open a little wider and stepped inside the room. "Hello?" you asked and looked around.
You tried to shrug it off and you changed into your uniform. You grabbed the keys, hooking them onto the maid cart and started on your rounds. What a way to start your first day at your new job.
You had been working at the Hotel Cortez for almost a month now, and the weird happenings and strange feelings didn't let up. Your friends told you to google the hotel, but you knew that if you did that, you'd be too afraid to return and you needed the money. When you came back from your lunch one day, your name was being called by Iris, the front desk woman.
You walked over to the desk. "What's up?" you asked.
"I know I told you to stay out of room sixty-four, but one of our last guests left quite a mess in there." Iris said and handed you the key to the room. "Try not to mess it up too much." She said.
You nodded and then looked at her for a moment. "I thought no one was allowed to rent that room." You said.
"Well the owner decided to open it up." Iris said, seeming like she didn't expect you to ask questions.
"Okay." You said and headed to the elevator with the cart.
The elevator ride was strangely calm, which was quite a different feeling from what you normally felt in the hotel. When you got to the sixth floor, however, the feeling changed. When the elevator doors opened, you felt that feeling that someone was watching you. You gripped the handle of your cart and swallowed the lump in your throat as you pushed the cart down the hall.
You got to room sixty-four and got the key out to open the door. While you fidgeted with the key, you felt a draft on your neck, as if someone blew on your skin. You gasped and turned to look behind you, but didn't see anyone there. "It's just your imagination, Y/N." you whispered.
You got the door open and walked inside, leaving your cart in the hallway to assess how bad the room was. You furrowed your brow as you looked around and saw the room in pristine condition. Iris had told you that the room was messy, and there wasn't a single thing out of place.
You huffed as you walked over to the bedside table and called down to the front desk.
"Hotel Cortez front desk, what do you need?" Iris spoke.
"Iris, this room is already clean." You said into the phone. "Did you send me to the wrong room?" you asked her.
"I must have. Do a sweep of the room just in case, and make sure everything is full." Iris said and hung up.
You sighed some and hung up the phone. As you walked around the room to make sure that the garbage cans had bags in them, and then went to the bathroom to see if the towels were clean, you felt a drop in temperature. You figured it was the air kicking on, but when you put your hand over the vents, there was no air coming out. You felt the little hairs on the back of your neck standing up and you tried to calm down.
As you finished refolding the towels, you heard the room door slam shut which caused you to jump. You took a deep breath and walked out of the bathroom, your stomach leaping into your throat. There in the room was an elegant looking man in a pin-striped suit. He had a pencil thin mustache and his hair was perfectly gelled. If you weren't so scared, you would probably think he was handsome.
"How did you get in here?" you asked him. "You shouldn't be in this room, sir." You said.
The man gave you a smile and folded his hands in front of him. "Well I would think I reserve the right to be in this room considering I live here." He said.
You looked at him in disbelief. "You live here? No one rents this room, let alone lives here." You told him.
"Well I don't spend all of my time here, I sometimes frequent other rooms as well. After all, it is my hotel, designed and built it myself." He said proudly.
"The guy who built this hotel is dead." You said. "Is this some sort of a prank? Did Iris put you up to this?" you asked him.
"There is no pranking here, sweetheart." He smiled at you. "Let me introduce myself to you; James Patrick March. It's a pleasure to meet you." he smiled.
"Okay, this whole James March act needs to stop, you're not some dead hotel owner, you're a freak who needs to leave this hotel before I call the police." You said sternly and headed for the door.
"I'll show you proof." James said and walked to the living room area where a black and white photo hung of the original staff, including James March. "There I am." He said, pointing to the photo.
You walked over to the picture to humor him and looked where he pointed. When you saw the man in the picture, and then looked back at James, you felt goose bumps rising all over your skin. "This isn't possible." You whispered.
"Of course it is, my dear. There's quite a lot to tell you, Y/N." he said and walked to the small kitchen area where there was an old-fashioned ice box. He pulled out a glass of Whiskey and poured two glasses.
You stared at him, nearly unable to breathe. "H-how do you know my name?" you asked him softly.
"I've watched you since you got here, Y/N. Now..." he said and turned to face you, handing you one of the glasses. "You look like you need a drink." He smirked.
You took the glass and drank the entire amount of Whiskey, trying to make sense of what was happening. James March died years ago, that's what Iris told you anyway, and here you were having a drink with him. Realizing that your initial thoughts of the hotel being haunted were correct, you sat on the couch with him and listened to everything he had to say.
After a couple of hours, you had learned about all of the "residents" at the hotel. James explained to you about how if you died at the hotel, you stayed there. He answered every one of your questions, until you fully understood everything about the hotel.
"So this hotel is just crawling with ghosts?" you asked him.
"None of us crawl, dear, but we do live here. You are the only one here who can leave." He said, finishing off his sixth glass of whiskey.
You sighed and set your glass on the table in front of the couch and then looked at him. "Why were you watching me?" you asked.
"Well because I was absolutely smitten with you, dear." He smirked at you, dimples appearing on his cheeks. "It was me who asked Iris to hire you when you applied."
"Did you hire me to be another ghost? I'm not into that, sorry." You said.
"No, not at all, Y/N." he said and put his hand on your knee. "I hired you so that I may see your beauty every day." He said.
"That would be so much more romantic if you weren't dead." You said, giving a half smile.
He stood up and nodded. "I understand." He said. "You should get back to work, we'll chat again another time." He said, and in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
"James?" you asked and looked around, not seeing him. You shook your head and grabbed the empty glasses and put them on your cart in the hallway.
Before you headed down the hall, you felt the draft on your neck again, causing you to jump. Now that you knew the truth about the hotel, you had a feeling someone was nearby. You went to the elevator and got on, taking a deep breath.
For the next few weeks, you would meet with James almost every day to talk and get to know each other. During your meetings, you became more and more comfortable with him and if it was possible to fall in love with a ghost, you were definitely falling for him. James was very protective over you, and would make a light flicker or push something off of a table if someone got too close to you. He would also try to play little jokes on you, but sometimes they went a little far.
One night in particular, you were cleaning out one of the suites when the door slammed shut behind you. You jumped and then sighed when you realized that it was probably James. You went back to cleaning, and then the light began to flicker.
"This isn't funny, James." You said softly and began wiping down the tables.
As you cleaned, the bucket of soapy water flew off of the desk, spilling water all over the carpet. You gasped and then turned around to see that no one was there.
"James March, I've had enough of this." You said sternly.
You felt a cold breeze on the back of your neck which gave you goose bumps.
"James, I mean it." You said again.
Two hands wrapped around you waist from behind, causing you to flinch. "I didn't mean to upset you, darling." James' voice spoke from behind you. "I only wanted to play a little joke on you, you know, make you laugh."
You sighed and pulled yourself out of his arms. "Well they're not funny anymore, Iris is going to murder me when she sees this mess." You said, picking up the now empty bucket.
James looked at you like he didn't understand why you were upset. "Y/N, you seem upset." He said. "I thought you liked my funny side." He said.
"I do, James, I just don't want to lose this job, I can't lose this job. Iris is going to kill me." You said and put the bucket on the table.
"I do apologize for my jokes, if they're making you upset." James said and walked over to you. "As for Iris, she wouldn't dare lay a finger on you, because she knows what you mean to me, dear." He said and rubbed your cheek gently.
You looked up at him after he said that. "What I mean to you?" you asked.
James smiled at you and nodded. "Over this glorious period of knowing you, Y/N, I have fallen quite madly in love with you. I would do anything in my power to make you happy, and if I could, I would give you the world." He said softly.
You leaned into his palm, smiling up at him. "I would kiss you if I could." You said softly.
"My love, who says that you can't?" James asked.
You looked up at him and smiled, holding his suspenders and pressing your lips against his in a passionate kiss.
James wrapped his arms around your waist and returned the kiss. When you pulled away to breathe, he smiled down at you. "Your kiss is just as magical as you are."
You smiled and rubbed his cheek. "You are too sweet to be a big scary ghost, James."
He kissed you softly and smiled down at you. "Only for you, my dear."
You kissed back and rubbed the side of his neck. "So if we can kiss, does that mean we could do other things as well?" you asked shyly.
James smirked and nodded at you, running his tongue over his bottom lip quickly. "Yes it does. What sort of things were you thinking about?" he asked, rubbing your lower back.
You smiled and kissed him gently. "Lock the door, and you'll find out." You said softly.
James sauntered over to the door and turned the lock before he walked over to you and led you to the bed. You both lay down on the bed, and let's just say the rest is history.

All Of You (Jimmy Darling x Reader) [AHS]
Tumblr media
You were less than thrilled to find out that you had to spend your summer in Jupiter with your great aunt. She didn’t particularly like you, and you felt the same about her. The first few weeks you spent there were fairly boring, like you had expected, but that changed when she decided to let you wander the town. She gave you some spending money for food or whatever you water, and then sent you on your way.
You did a little bit of shopping but couldn’t find anything to buy. You got hungry around one, so you headed to a small diner in town. You walked in and walked up to the counter, sitting on the stool. You looked at the menu and out of the corner of your eye, you noticed a young man in a leather jacket staring at you. You glanced up at him and noticed a pair of brown eyes looking into your own. You gave the man a polite smile and he returned it, winking at you. You smiled softly to yourself and looked back at your menu. The waitress came over to you and took your order; a turkey club and a side of French fries.
You took a sip of your water and noticed the young man walking over to you, out of the corner of your eye.
“Is this seat taken, Miss?” he asked you.
You looked up at him and smiled. “No, it’s all yours.” You said.
The man sat down and smiled over at you. “I haven’t seen you around here much, are you new in town?” he asked.
You nodded to him. “I’m just staying with my great aunt for the summer.”
He nodded and held out a hand that was covered in a leather mitten. “Jimmy.” He smirked.
You smiled and shook his hand gently. “Y/N.” you said.
“Pretty name for a pretty girl.” Jimmy smiled at you.
You felt your cheeks turning pink and you smiled back at him. “You’re very sweet, Jimmy.” You said.
The two of you began chatting about various stories and memories from your lives. Your food came out shortly after his and the two of you both ate together, continuing your conversations. Jimmy made you laugh and made you feel like you were the only girl in the entire world. Part of you wondered why he kept the mittens on, but you weren’t going to pry. After you finished your meal, you got the money out of your purse to pay.
“Don’t worry about it, I got this.” Jimmy smiled at you and took out enough money to pay for both of you.
“Jimmy that was really sweet of you.” you said to him and smiled. “Thank you.”
           “No problem.” He winked.
The two of you both walked outside, and Jimmy walked over to his motorbike. You looked at the bike and smiled.
“Want a ride?” Jimmy asked with a smile on his face.
You bit your bottom lip and smiled softly. “I’ve never been on one before.” You said.
“Well there’s a first time for everything, right?” he asked.
You smiled and nodded. “Right.” You said and got on the back of the bike, wrapping your arms around his waist. You gave the directions to your great aunt’s house, and held on tight.
Jimmy started up the bike and smiled back at you. “Hold on tight, sweetheart.” He said and rode off.
Jimmy took a scenic route to the house, making sure you got to see all the beautiful sights that were hidden in Jupiter. You loved the feel of the breeze on your skin and enjoyed the warmth of being presses against Jimmy even more. You rested your head on his back, closing your eyes as you enjoyed the ride. When Jimmy pulled up to your great aunt’s house, he turned the bike off and pulled the kickstand down.
“Here we are, miss.” He smiled back at you.
“Thank you.” you said and slid off of the bike. “Do you want to come in for a bit? My aunt’s out for the day with her book club.” You told him.
Jimmy smiled at you and nodded. “I’d like that.” He said and followed you inside.
You got him a glass of lemonade and got yourself a glass of tea, then you walked him up to the guest room which you were staying in. There was a bench seat in the window that you sat down in; crossing your legs underneath you so there was room for Jimmy in front of you.
“Have a seat.” You smiled, taking a sip of your tea.
Jimmy sat in front of you and crossed his legs underneath himself as well. “This a really nice spot.” He said.
“It’s the one good thing about this place.” You smirked.
“It can’t be so bad.” Jimmy said taking a drink of his lemonade.
You shrugged. “I guess it could be worse.” You said.
“It could.” Jimmy nodded. “You could have not met me.” He winked.
You smiled and nodded. “True.” You said. “So can I ask you something?” you asked.
“Sure.” He said and leaned back against the wall.
“Why do you wear the mittens?” you asked softly.
Jimmy’s demeanor changed slightly and he shrugged, looking out the window. “I just like them.” He said.
You nodded and figured you didn’t need to pry. “Well they look nice on you.” you smiled.
He looked at you and stared at you for a moment before he smiled. “You’re the sweetest girl I’ve met in a long time.” He said.
           “I try.” You smiled.
Jimmy bit his bottom lip and then leaned in, kissing you softly. He wasn’t forceful, but the kiss was still firm. His lips were soft and warm against yours, and you felt a spark.
You kissed him back and smiled, rubbing his arm gently. You pulled away gently and smiled at him. “I like you, Jimmy Darling.”
He smiled and pushed a stray strand of hair behind your ears. “I like you too.” He said and then his smile dropped. “But you shouldn’t like me.” He said softly.
           “Why not?” you asked.
Jimmy bit his lip and looked at you. “I’m not normal.” He said softly.
“No one’s normal, Jimmy.” You smiled softly.
“No, I’m…” he took a deep breath. “Promise not to scream.” He said, and after you promised him, he took the mittens off revealing his deformed hands. “I’m the lobster boy.” He said and rested his hands in his lap.
You looked at his hands for a moment and then took them both in your hands gently. “I don’t see anything wrong with you.” you said to him.
Jimmy looked up at you and smiled, holding your hands gently. “No girl has ever let me do this.” He said softly.
You smiled and took his right hand, putting it on your cheek. “Well I guess I’m pretty special.” You smiled.
Jimmy rubbed your cheek with his thumb and smiled at you. “You are.” He said and kissed you again. “Thank you.” he said softly.
You smiled and kissed his palm. “Don’t thank me for being a decent person.” You said softly. “I told you I liked you. All of you.” you said softly.
He smiled and nodded. “I like you too, Y/N.” he kissed you gently. “All of you.” he winked.
The two of you spent the rest of the day talking and laughing, telling stories about your life back home, and his freak show. Sure, Jimmy was different, but that didn’t stop your heart from falling in love with him.

New Patient (Kit Walker x Reader) [AHS]
Tumblr media
Here is my first AHS one shot! I made it a little longer than my normal one shots, because it’s the first one. I really hope you guys like it, I’m not so sure about it. :3
Anxiety has been the bane of your existence since you were ten years old. When you had your first panic attack, you had no idea what was going on. Your heart was racing, your hands were sweaty, and you were trembling from head to toe. You were sure that you were having a heart attack, so you had your dad take you to the hospital. They explained that it was just a panic attack, and just a few days later, you were diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Your dad tried his hardest to understand what was going on with you, but he didn’t do a very good job. You were shuffled in and out of doctors and hospitals, but nothing seemed to help you. You finally found a doctor that prescribed you some anxiety medication and you were better for a couple of years.
Around your twenty-second birthday, your dad stopped paying for the medicine, so your anxiety came back and came back worse than before. You had panic attacks every single day, and you could barely leave the house. You lost your job as a waitress, and your dad couldn’t figure out what to do with you. His solution was to have you admitted to Briarcliff Manor; an insane asylum.
When you were admitted, you were strapped to a bed and sedated. You woke up a few hours later feeling groggy and out of it. You looked up to see an older woman, a nun, looking down at you with an almost disapproving look.
“Our nervous Nellie is awake.” She said with an accent that you couldn’t quite place.
You looked up at her and tried to move your arms, but felt the restraints around your wrists. “Where am I? Why am I strapped down?” you asked, looking down at the blue gown you were wearing.
“You’re at Briarcliff Manor, and you are strapped down because you were resisting.” The woman said.
“I’m not resisting now.” You said softly. “Please take these off of me.” You said, feeling tears forming in your eyes.
“You will be released after the medicines kick in.” she said standing up. “Until then, you can rest easy in here. Maybe you can think about what makes you so nervous.” She said and walked to the door. “Welcome to Briarcliff.” She smirked before walking out of the cell you were in and shutting the door.
You leaned back and took some deep breaths, trying to keep yourself calm. The medicines began to kick in and you dozed off. After what seemed like hours, you woke up to another nun who had a folder in her hand.
“Y/N L/N, you’re awake again.” She said. “How are you feeling?”
You figured if you told her you were scared out of your mind, she would keep you strapped in, so you thought fast. “I’m feeling more calm, a little tired.” You said.
“That’s to be expected on your first day here. If you’re not too tired to walk, you can head down to the common room.” She said to you.
“That would be great.” You said and put on a smile.
She unbuckled your wrist restraints and then unbuckled the restraints on your ankles. You stood up and walked with her down a long hallway where she showed you to the door of the common room. You pushed the door open and walked inside, hearing a French song that sounds too upbeat. There were other patients scattered around the room, all having different kinds of ailments. You saw a loveseat towards the back of the room so you walked over and sat down.
Everything started to set in, and you could feel your heartbeat picking up again. You leaned back on the couch and bounced your leg, trying to relax. You felt your heart rate picking up and you felt yourself starting to sweat. You were in the beginning stages of a panic attack, and this was the worst place to have one. As you leaned your head back to try and focus on something, anything, a young man walked into the room in a blue shirt and blue pants. His dark, curly hair was disheveled but still looked quite put together for a patient in an asylum. He looked much more clean-cut than the other patients, and something about him made you feel like he wasn’t a threat. He didn’t belong here, but you didn’t know why. When he saw you, he stopped in his tracks, recognizing that something was wrong.
The young man walked over to you and sat on the couch beside you. “You’re new here, aren’t you?” he asked with an Eastern accent.
You looked into his dark brown eyes and nodded. “Yes. Just got here this morning I think.” You said. You had lost track of time when you fell asleep, and there weren’t any clocks.
He nodded and noticed your trembling body and pale face. “Is everything okay, miss?” he asked you.
“Y/N.” you said softly. “I’m Y/N.” you said.
“I’m Kit.” He said and shook your hand gently, rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb. “Are you alright?” he asked.
You shook your head. “I’m having a panic attack.” You said softly. “My dad just dropped me off here and they strapped me to a bed.” You said, tears pooling in your eyes.
Kit looked around the room and then looked at you. “Well what usually helps you calm down, Y/N?” he asked you, moving to sit on the coffee table in front of the couch, facing you.
“I-I don’t know, my meds.” You said. No one had ever really tried to calm you down without pills or therapy.
Kit took your hands in his and looked at you. “Just look at me for a minute, okay?” he said softly.
You held his hands and looked into his eyes. They really were beautiful.
“What kinds of music do you like to listen to?” he asked you.
           “What?” you asked him.
“Music. What types of music do you like to listen to?” he asked again. When you gave him a face, he smirked. “Just trust me.” He said.
“I don’t know rock and roll I guess, anything but this song.” You said, tightening your grip on his hands as you felt the panic start to rise again.
Kit held your hands and nodded. “This song starts to fade into a buzz after a while.” He said. “Tell me about your best friend.” He said again, still holding onto your hands.
You told him about your best friend, Emily, and then answered the other random questions he gave you. Before you knew it, your panic had settled and your breathing was back to normal. Kit moved back to the couch beside you, never letting go of your hand. The two of you sat there for a moment before you broke the silence.
“How did you know that was going to work?” you asked him.
“I didn’t.” he smirked. “I just know that when I’m stressed or nervous, distracting myself helps a lot so I thought I’d give it a shot.” He said.
You gave him a soft smile and nodded. “Thank you, Kit.” You said.
“No problem.” He said. “You don’t belong in here, Y/N; just because you get more nervous than other people? Panic attacks shouldn’t send someone in a place like this. You need someone that’s going to show you patience and comfort, and if your dad wasn’t doing it, then I will.” He said.
You looked at him and nodded. “I’d hug you, but I don’t want to get sedated.” You said.
Kit smiled a dazzling smile, dimples appearing on his cheeks. “You won’t get sedated, people hump in the corners around here, a hug will be ignored.” He said and held his arm out for you.
You wrapped your arms around him and hugged him tightly. No one had shown you such compassion in the past few weeks, and Kit, this total stranger, had shown you all of the compassion he had. As you pulled away, you turned on the couch to face him. “So can I ask why you’re here?” you asked him.
His face changed as her winced slightly. He took a deep breath and told you how he was framed for his wife’s murder and a handful of murders before her. When he finished, he looked up at you, waiting for your response to his tale.
“You don’t belong here either, Kit.” You said softly. “I don’t believe for one second that you’re capable of those awful things.” You said to him.
He nodded and gave you a half-smile. “Thank you.” he said. “Maybe the two of us can break outta here together.” He nudged your arm.
“Maybe.” You smiled at him. “I hope so.”
“Me too.” He said and leaned back with you.
For months after that day, you and Kit were inseparable. You both truly fell for each other, and he always stood up for you. Your dad didn’t visit you once, nor did he write, and Kit was there to cheer you up when you were down about it. You shared your first kiss in the bakery, and considered yourselves the first couple to get together in Briarcliff.
Six months after you were admitted, Kit was proven innocent of the Bloodyface murders, and released. You were in the common room when Kit got the news, so you had no idea that he would be leaving. On the way out, he brought you a bag of clothes from the Salvation Army and set it on your lap.
“Let’s go, the cab’s waiting outside.” He smiled down at you.
You looked at the bag and then at Kit. “We’re leaving? But how did you manage that?” you asked, standing up.
“Let’s just keep that a secret until we get home.” He smirked.
           “Home?” you asked.
“Home.” He smiled. “I’m not letting you go back to your deadbeat dad, Y/N. You’re coming to stay with me.” He said and held his hand out.
You couldn’t help yourself, and you threw your arms around his neck, kissing his lips firmly.
Kit wrapped his arms around your waist and smiled down at you after the kiss. “Let’s go.” He smiled.
You walked with him to the lobby where there were some restrooms in the corner. You went inside and changed into the skirt and shirt that were in the bag, and came back out, leaving the gown on the floor in the bathroom. Kit smiled at you and put his arm around your shoulders.
“Are you sure you want to leave? We can always stay if you want to.” He looked down at you, joking.
You smiled and shook your head. “I’m positive.” You said and walked out of the asylum to the cab that was waiting for the both of you.
Kit opened the door for you and then got in on the other side, sliding next to you. He kissed you gently and smiled.
“Let’s go home.” You said softly, touching his arm.
“You got it.” He smiled and put his arm around your shoulders, kissing your forehead.
For the first time in almost two years, you felt relaxed and at peace. You were heading home with the man who had your heart; Kit Walker. He was the one positive thing that came out of Briarcliff.

American Horror Story One Shots!
PLEASE READ THE RULES AND INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE REQUESTING!
I'll be posting original one shots as well as requests if I receive them. I've seen all five seasons, so I'm pretty familiar with all of the characters. Just a few notes and then we'll get to the rules!
1. I'm not exactly comfortable writing character/character which sounds crazy, I know. I would rather keep this as a character/reader!
2. I will write the character you want as "in character" as I possibly can.
3. All of the requests will be written as "Y/N and character". I won't be doing custom one shots unless otherwise specified.
Okay let's get to the rules/how to request! Please read through these before submitting a request!
1. Starting on 5/22/16 requests will be open all the time. If I start to get a lot of requests for these one shots, I'll have to close requests and put them on my hockey story schedule. (If that happens, I will make a post and let you all know, don't worry!)
2. To send a request, message me and give me the character and scenario you would like, and let me know if you would like credit for the request. If you want credit, I will put your name in a note before the story. (Example: This story was requested by Amanda (pandasfandomstories)) IF YOU DO NOT TELL ME THAT YOU WOULD LIKE CREDIT, YOUR NAME WILL BE LEFT OUT.
3. If I do not feel comfortable with the request, I do have the right to say no to it. I'm pretty flexible, but there are certain things that I will not write.
4. Once the one shot is posted, I will message you so that you know when it is up!
Alright, that's all I have for now. If I think of anything to add, I will add it and reblog this post with the update date. I will link these rules under the masterlist on my page once I get that figured out.
Thank you for reading!

Protective - Chapter Ten
Tumblr media
It had been a few days since you woke up, and you were slowly getting back into the swing of things. You still had some leg pain here and there, but it was getting less and less. Instead of your normal tasks, Rick had you helping Maggie with some of the easier tasks around Alexandria. One day, while you were helping her with some of the gardening, she looked out at the garden and put her hand on her hip.
“I’ve been thinking about expanding our crop area. If we take that wall back a little bit, we can plant more.” Maggie said. “We’ll have to clear out the area behind the wall first.” She noted.
You looked over at her and nodded. “I can help you clear it out.” You said.
“Are you sure you’re up for that?” she asked, raising her eyebrow at you. Since you got there, Maggie was like a big sister to you. After the accident, she really took you under her wing.
“Yeah, I’m okay.” You smiled. “I’ll put this stuff back in the shed; you can go tell Rick the plan.” You said.
“Okay. Be careful.” Maggie said and headed towards Rick’s house.
You grabbed the gardening tools and put them in the basket where they were kept. You carried the basket on your hip, heading towards the shed. You put the basket in the shed and headed towards Rick’s house to meet Maggie. When you got there, you saw Carl playing with Judith on the porch.
“Hey, Y/N.” he said and waved to you.
You smiled and waved back. “Hey.” You said. “Enjoying the weather?” you asked.
“I don’t think I’m enjoying it as much as Judith is.” He joked.
You walked over and squatted down next to them. “Hi sweetheart.” You smiled to Judith.
She clapped her hands and handed you some of her toys.
The door opened and you saw Maggie and Rick coming out, finishing a conversation. You stood up and smiled over at them, waiting to hear if Rick was okay with Maggie’s plan.
Maggie smiled over at you. “Ready?” she asked.
Rick furrowed his brow at her and then looked at you. “Wait ready for what?”
“I told Maggie that I would help her clear the area.” You told him.
           “No.” Rick said sternly.
Maggie looked at Rick and then at you.
           “Why, no?” you asked him.
“You’re not going out there with an injury.” Rick told you.
You looked at him. “Rick, I’m doing a lot better, it’s nothing I can’t handle.” You argued.
“You’re not going out there.” Rick said. “End of story.” He added and headed to the guard tower to take the next shift, not giving you a chance to argue anymore.
Maggie looked at you and bit her bottom lip. “Maybe he’s right, there’s going to be a lot of leg work, and I don’t want your stitches to pop open or anything.” She said.
           “Maggie…” you started.
“You can help me out tomorrow, or go with Glenn and Rosita on a run tomorrow.” She said.
You sighed and nodded. “Okay.” You said and headed to your house.
You appreciated the fact that Rick was looking out for you, but you were still a little frustrated that he didn’t believe you about how much better you were doing. Maybe he was right though, maybe you shouldn’t be pushing yourself so hard. You took a shower and got dressed, then did some straightening up around your house. Eventually, it came time for dinner, so you walked over to Carol’s house to help her cook. You knocked on the door and waited for her to answer.
The door opened and Carol smiled at you. “Hey, Y/N.” she said. “I hope you’re here to help me cook.” She joked.
“Of course.” You smiled and walked in with her.
“Daryl got us a bunch of deer meat, so I was thinking of doing some deer meat steaks.” Carol explained. “They won’t be real steaks, but it’s nice to pretend sometimes.” She winked and walked into the kitchen where the aroma of cooked meat filled the room.
“That sounds really good.” You smiled. “Anything I can help with?” you asked her.
“Would you mind washing and cutting up those vegetables?” she asked you, pointing to a large bowl on the counter with carious vegetables from the garden.
“Not at all.” You said and walked over, washing your hands first. You began rinsing the vegetables while Carol got the meat ready.
“So how did today go with Maggie?” Carol asked you, breaking the silence of the kitchen.
You looked over your shoulder at her and then shrugged. “It went alright, until we asked Rick about some expansion plans.” You said and turned the faucet off.
           “Expansion?” Carol asked.
You nodded and put the vegetable bowl on the island in the center of the kitchen. “Maggie thought we could extend the wall out so we can have more crop space. She asked Rick and he said it was fine, but refuses to let me help her clear the area behind the wall.” You said, grabbing a cutting board and a knife.
“That’s Rick for ya.” Carol smiled softly at you. “I know it seems annoying right now, but he’s just doing what’s best for you. You’ve still got stitches in your leg and if those pop open, there could be trouble.”
You nodded and began chopping the vegetables. “I get that.” You said. “I just wish I could do more to help.” You said.
Carol nodded. “Well, tomorrow morning when you get your leg checked on, if Maggie takes your stitches out, I’m sure you could go on the run.”
“I hope so.” You said and got the cut vegetables into another bowl.
“As for Rick, he’s just watching out for you because he cares about you.” Carol reminded you.
Before you could respond, there was a knock on the door. The members of the group started showing up for dinner, and you helped set the table while Daryl took over cutting the meat. As you were setting the table, you heard Rick’s voice coming from behind you.
“Here, let me help you.” he said.
You looked back at him and shook your head. “I got it, it’s not that big of a deal.” You said.
“Should you be doing all of this with your leg?” he asked you.
“You mean the leg that hasn’t hurt all day? Yeah, I’m sure.” You said with a hint of annoyance in your tone.
Rick clenched his jaw and looked at you. “Fine.” He said and walked back out to the living room area.
When you finished setting the table, Carol called everyone in to eat. Everyone ate their meal and talked amongst themselves about various things, just like every other dinner. You talked to Maggie about the expansion of the crops, even if you weren’t allowed to help her. When the meal was finished, Rosita and Tara took the cleanup, so you walked out onto Carol’s porch to get some air. You sat on the porch swing and moved it gently with your leg which was parked on the porch. You started to think about life before the outbreak hit, which you had refused to think about until today. You missed you family and your house, you missed your friends and your college classes, you missed everything. Your thoughts were interrupted when the front door opened and Rick walked out and over to you.
“Mind if I have a seat?” he asked you.
You shook your head and stopped the swing’s movement so he could sit down.
He sat next to you and let out a sigh. “What a day.” He mumbled, almost to himself.
You nodded and played with the hem of your shirt. For the first time, you were unsure of what to say to Rick. You certainly didn’t like that feeling one bit.
“Maggie said if your leg is healed well enough, she’ll take your stitches out tomorrow.” He said.
You nodded. “That’s what Carol said.” You said softly.
He nodded and looked over at you. “Y/N, I’m only looking out for you.” he said.
“I know.” You said and looked over at him. “I hate to admit it, but you were probably right about today and helping Maggie.” You said, trying to make him smile.
He smirked and nodded. “I’m always right.” He winked.
You smiled and shook your head. “Yeah, sure.” You teased and looked ahead of you. “I think I’m gonna call it a night, I’m beat.” You said and stood up from the swing.
“I’ll meet you at the infirmary tomorrow to get your leg checked out.” Rick said.
You nodded and looked back at him. “Goodnight, Rick.” You said and waved to him.
“Night.” He said to you and waved back.
You walked to your house and went inside, letting out a sigh. You were hoping that if you got your stitches out the next day, he would ease up a little bit and let you do more. Little did you know, he wasn’t anywhere near ready to ease up.

Waking Up - Chapter Nine
Here’s the next chapter! I’m not too sure about this one.
Tumblr media
When you woke up, you were still in the infirmary house. You were in a room that used to be a bedroom, but was now used like a hospital room. The bed you were in was comfortable, and there was a window in front of the bed that showed the streets of Alexandria. There was a light blanket over your lap and you were in a different shirt. You looked under the blanket and saw that you were in a pair of your pajama pants, and had a large bandage wrapped around your thigh. You sat up slowly and looked around the room. There was a glass of water with a single daisy in it, a note lying next to it. You smiled softly and picked it up gently.
‘Went to get some food, be back soon. –Rick’
You smiled to yourself and set the note down. Just as you turned to get out of bed, Maggie appeared in the doorway, doing a slight double-take when she realized that you were awake.
           “You’re awake.” She smiled.
           “Yeah.” You said softly.
“Rick’s on his way over, I saw him walking. I’ll go get him.” She said, and before you could say anything else, she was gone.
You barely had time to move before you heard the front door open, then close, then open again, followed by Maggie’s voice, footsteps, and then Rick’s voice.
“How long has she been awake?” he asked, entering the room.
“Just a few minutes.” You smiled up at him.
He smiled back, relief written all over his face. “You’re okay.” He said and sat on the bed next to you, putting a hand on your cheek gently. “How do you feel?” he asked.
“My leg’s a little sore, but I’m fine.” You told him. The feeling of his hand on your cheek gave you butterflies.
He nodded. “I’ll go get you some water and let Maggie have a look at your leg.” He said and stood up. He gave you another look before heading into the other room.
Maggie walked over to the other side of your bed and moved the blanket back, checking your leg. “He hasn’t left your side in two days.” She said.
It was your turn to do a double-take now. “Two days?” you asked.
She nodded to you. “You were out for two days. Rick was worried sick about you, and Daryl kept beating himself up over it.”
“It wasn’t his fault.” You sighed.
“I know.” She said. She put the blanket back over your lap and smiled. “You’re healing nicely, and if you’re up to it, you can start walking whenever you’d like.” She said.
You nodded. “Thanks, Maggie.” You said, and then a thought came to your head. Who changed you into your pajamas? “Hey Maggie?” you asked.
           “Yes?” she said.
“How did I end up in different clothes?” you asked sheepishly.
“I changed you with the help of Carol. Rick didn’t want to invade your privacy.” She said.
You nodded, slightly relieved, and then saw Rick coming in with a bottle of water. “Thank you.” you said, taking it from him.
“You’re welcome.” He said and sat on the chair next to your bed.
“Her leg’s looking good. She can start walking whenever she’s ready.” Maggie said and walked out of the room.
Rick nodded and looked back at you. As you drank the water bottle, he watched you with a mixture of relief and sadness on his face. “Do you remember anything?” he asked.
You got through half of the water bottle and nodded. “I remember it all.” You told him.
“Daryl said someone shot out his tire.” Rick said. “Did you see who it was?” he asked.
You should your head. “I didn’t see anything. There was just a loud pop and then we skidded into a ditch.” You told him.
Rick nodded and put his hand on yours. “Maggie went to get you some clothes. Once you get dressed, we’ll get you up and walking.” He said and stood up.
           “Rick?” you spoke up.
“Yeah?” he looked down at you.
           “Thank you.” you said softly.
He smiled at you and nodded. “You’re welcome.” He said.
He walked out of the room leaving you alone for a minute until Maggie walked in with your clothes. She let you get dressed in a pair of jeans and one of your t-shirts. You sat on the bed and bit your bottom lip. You weren’t sure if you were going to be able to walk, but you were sure as hell going to try. After a few minutes, Rick walked into the room and smiled down at you.
           “You ready?” he asked.
You nodded and held your hands out.
Rick took your hands in his and helped you stand up. “Just take it slow.” He said softly.
You felt your legs shaking underneath you, so you tightened your grip on Rick’s hands. Once you felt steady enough, you let go of one of his hands and walked with him out of the room, slowly but surely.
Rick held your hand and helped you walk out of the room.
“I think I’m getting the hang of this.” You smiled.
“Good.” He smirked. “Do you want to get some fresh air?” he asked you.
           “Yeah.” You said softly.
Rick walked you outside and stayed next to you the entire time. He walked at your pace to make sure that you weren’t rushed. While you walked, various members of the group came up and talked to you, asking you how you were and how you were feeling. After you got halfway around Alexandria, you took a deep breath.
“What’s wrong?” Rick asked, putting his hand on your back.
“Nothing, I just need to take a breather.” You said.
“Okay, come over here.” He said and walked you to the porch of one of the houses. He helped you sit down gently and then looked at you. “Do you want me to get you some water?” he asked.
You bit your lip and nodded. “Yes please.” You said.
“Okay, are you alright staying here by yourself?” he asked.
You nodded. “I’ll be okay.” You smiled.
“I’ll be right back.” He said and walked over to his house since it was closer.
You leaned back against the step behind you and stretched out your legs. The warmth of the sun on your skin felt incredible, and the gentle breeze helped even out the Georgia heat. As you were resting, you noticed Daryl walking by with his head down. You hadn’t spoken to him since the accident, and you knew that he felt horrible about all of it.
           “Daryl.” You called to him.
He looked up at you and you could have sworn he winced.
“Come here.” You said and waved him over.
He hesitated but then walked over to you. “How’s your leg?” he asked.
“It’s better.” You said. “I’ve been walking, Rick just went to get me some water.” You explained.
Daryl nodded and pursed his lips before he spoke. “I’m sorry.” He said.
You touched his hand gently. “Daryl, you don’t have anything to be sorry for.” You said. “You didn’t shoot out the tire. Plus you got me back here, didn’t you?”
He nodded and looked down at his boots for a minute before he looked back up at you. “I’m glad you’re okay, Y/N.” he said.
You smiled and nodded. “I am too.” You said and gave his hand a squeeze before you let go. “Did you get your bike back?”
“I went and got it yesterday. I patched the hole so it should be good as new soon.” He said.
“Good.” You said. You looked over and saw Rick walking up with a bottle of water. “Thank you.” you smiled up at him.
“No problem.” He said and handed you the bottle of water. “We’ll walk back when you’re ready.” He said.
Daryl looked down at you. “I’ll see you later.” He said and nodded to Rick before walking back to his house.
You took a drink of the water and looked up at Rick. “Alright, I’m ready.” You said and stood up carefully.
Rick touched your arm gently to make sure you were steady before he walked with you.
He walked you to your house and got you situated inside. He made sure that you were okay with being left alone, and you insisted you were fine. When he finally accepted the fact that you were fine, just a little sore, you walked him to the door.
“Rest up today, and then we’ll get you back into the job rotations tomorrow, okay?” Rick said.
You nodded. “Are you sure there’s nothing I can do today?” you asked him.
Rick smirked and nodded. “I appreciate your eagerness, but you need to rest today. We’ll get you working tomorrow.” He said.
“Okay.” You smiled. “Thank you again, for taking care of me and being patient with me.” You said.
Rick nodded. “I’m just glad you’re okay.” He said sincerely, touched your arm gently. “Get some rest, Y/N.” he said and walked out of the house.
You watched him leave and then headed to the bathroom to take a shower. You had had a rough couple of days, and the feeling of the water on your skin would feel great. You were glad to be getting back into the swing of things, and couldn’t wait to get back to work. Part of you still wondered who could have shot out Daryl’s tire, and you wondered whether or not it was intentional. Maybe there was something other than walkers that you needed to worry about.
