I suspect that I’m not going to post anymore on this page. After, what, 6 or 7 years, I don’t feel that this is a place where I want to expend my energy anymore. I’ll still be here, pattering around looking at images for a bit of inspiration, but I don’t think I’m going to bother posting. Message if you want to talk but I’m going to dip out now. Princess Ōyama Sutematsu (1860 – 1919) was a Japanese woman of the Meiji era. As a child, she survived the Battle of Aizu. Yamakawa was then sent to America for ten years as part of the Iwakura Mission to become the first Japanese woman to receive a college degree. Yamakawa spent her later years as a philanthoropist advocating for women’s education and volunteer nursing in Japan.  Colorized and improved by the Digital Mix Company of Japan.
