PROGRESS REPORT
Things are slowly coming together at M.O’s Hair Haven. My client base is growing, especially with repeat bookings, and my in-home salon setup feels more comfortable and professional. Home service appointments are still popular, but juggling those with in-salon bookings is tricky. I’m realizing the need for a better scheduling system and more consistent social media promotion.
Overall, I feel proud of the progress. It’s not perfect, but it’s moving forward. I’m learning how much effort goes into running a business, it’s more than just styling hair. I’ve discovered that I’m more resilient than I thought, and I truly love making people feel confident.

UPDATE!!!!!
Managing M.O's Hair Haven, I feel that the customer engagement strategies, like our social media presence and quality services, are working well. Clients have been responding positively to the salon's environment and service, leading to repeat visits and word-of-mouth referrals. However, the promotional efforts such as discounted packages haven't had as much impact as anticipated. Some of the offers are not resonating with the target audience as effectively as expected.
Overall, I think the project is progressing positively, but there are still areas to refine. There's a good foundation in place, and I am confident the business will continue to grow with some adjustments. I’m learning a lot about the intricacies of managing a small business, especially in areas like customer relationship management, marketing, and the importance of clear financial tracking.
I am also learning a lot about myself, particularly in terms of time management and decision-making. I find myself constantly evaluating choices, which is teaching me how to handle both the big and small challenges that arise. The experience is proving to be a great learning opportunity. I am also getting much faster in my work, trying to get my clients out of the chair as soon as possible and I’m excited to continue refining my approach to managing the business.

PROGRESS UPDATE!
What is working? The combination of offering both home-based and mobile services has been a major strength. Clients appreciate the flexibility and convenience of home service appointments. Word-of-mouth referrals and an active social media presence have effectively increased the salon’s visibility and customer base. Customer satisfaction remains high, with positive reviews highlighting the salon’s professionalism, creativity, and personalized approach.
What is not working? Managing a growing number of home service appointments has become challenging, often leading to tight schedules. Balancing in-home services with in-house salon appointments has also occasionally resulted in time management difficulties. Additionally, the absence of additional staff means that scaling operations remains limited. Further, while sales have shown promise, consistent financial growth will require additional marketing efforts and possibly diversifying the service offerings.
How do you feel the project is coming? The project is progressing steadily, with positive momentum in terms of brand recognition and customer retention. There is a strong foundation in place, and the feedback from clients has been encouraging. While challenges exist, they are manageable, and with strategic planning, further growth is within reach.
What are you learning about running a business? Running M.O's Hair Haven has highlighted the importance of time management, adaptability, and customer service excellence. Developing efficient appointment scheduling practices has become essential. Additionally, maintaining financial discipline and tracking expenses is crucial for profitability. Building and nurturing customer relationships has proven to be one of the most effective ways to ensure repeat business and positive referrals.
What are you learning about yourself? Through this experience, I’ve learned that resilience and determination are key to navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship. My passion for hairstyling and dedication to delivering quality services have strengthened my confidence. Problem-solving and decision-making skills have improved, particularly in managing operational issues. I’ve also discovered the satisfaction of making clients feel their best, which remains a driving force for the continued success of M.O's Hair Haven.

PROGRESS REPORT FOR M.O'S HAIR HAVEN
what is working? Both in-person appointments and the salon's home services are doing well. Customers value the ease of at-home services, and the salon's individualized, cozy atmosphere has contributed to its loyal client base. The rise in referrals and repeat business is a clear sign that customers are happy with the services they are receiving. Offering both salon and home services has given the company the ability to draw in a wide variety of customers.
what is not working? The logistics of providing home services are the biggest obstacle. Effective scheduling management has proven challenging, occasionally resulting in delays and scheduling conflicts. It has also been challenging to balance the supply requirements for the home visits and the salon, and there have been times when inadequate inventory has interfered with service delivery.
How do I feel the project is coming? On the whole, the company is doing well. Even if there are operational issues to deal with, the salon (in my home) is expanding and the demand for in-home services is rising. Although there is hope for future expansion, I am aware that efficient operations depend on ongoing scheduling and inventory management improvements.
what am I learning about running a business? I've learned from running the company alone how important it is to multitask by juggling marketing, scheduling, customer service, and financing. I've discovered that keeping things organized and well-planned requires a great deal of work. Managing both in-salon and home services has taught me the importance of setting priorities and managing my time. Additionally, I've come to understand the importance of flexibility and swift adaptation to changing client needs and unforeseen challenges.
what am I learning about myself? I'm discovering that I'm more resourceful and resilient than I first believed. I've found that I can manage the demands of operating a firm alone, even if entrepreneurship requires ongoing problem-solving and change adaptability. I've also come to understand how important self-discipline is because I need to maintain my motivation and organization in order to handle everything by myself.

START-UP PROGRESS UPDATE!
Hey everyone!
Here is a recap of my business endeavors with M.O.'s Hair Haven, my home-based hair salon. Everything has been very fast-paced, from budgeting and starting my business to really interacting with clients. Even though there have been some ups and downs, I'm generally feeling inspired and thrilled about this experience. Let's explore my advancement!
What’s working?
Client Interest & Word-of-Mouth Marketing One of the best surprises has been how many people are interested in my services! Friends, family, and even neighbors have started booking appointments. It turns out that word-of-mouth is incredibly powerful, especially for a personal service like hairstyling. Satisfied clients are recommending me to their friends, which is helping me grow my business.
Social Media & Online Promotion I started posting before-and-after pictures of my work on Instagram, and I’m already seeing engagement from potential clients, though little, but we all start from somewhere. Social media is an amazing free marketing tool, and I’ve learned that consistency is key, posting regularly and using the right hashtags like #Hairstylist, #HomeSalon, #NaturalHair, #ontariohairstylist has helped me reach more people.
Budgeting & Financial Planning At first, I wasn’t sure how much I would need to spend versus how much I would make. But after creating my budget, I now have a clearer understanding of my expenses, from hair products to utilities. Tracking costs is helping me manage my money wisely, and I’m learning how to price my services fairly while making a good profit.
Customer Satisfaction Clients are also giving me great feedback, and I’m learning what styles are most in demand. This has helped me decide what services to promote more.
What is not working?
Time Management & Scheduling One of my biggest challenges is balancing everything (school, personal life, and the business) Some days feel overwhelming, especially when I have weeks with back-to-back bookings. I need to improve my scheduling system to prevent burnout and ensure I can give my best to every client.
Supply Management & Restocking I underestimated how fast I go through hair products like dye, styling gel, and shampoo. Running out of supplies mid-appointment is frustrating, so I need a better system for tracking and restocking products before they run out. I might start ordering in bulk to save money and avoid last-minute runs to the store and last minute ordering on amazon.
Marketing Outside My Inner Circle While I’m getting great referrals, I want to attract new clients beyond family and friends. I’consider offering discounts for first-time customers, just so they can have an experience with me to see how good I am, which in turn helps with building customer loyalty.
How’s the project coming along?
Despite the challenges, I’m really happy with my progress so far! I’ve gone from just an idea to actually running a small business, and that feels incredible, and sometimes overwhelming too! Seeing my clients walk out happy and confident after their appointments makes all the hard work worth it.
At first, I was worried about whether people would book appointments or if I was charging the right prices. But as the weeks go by, I’m learning and adjusting my business strategy.
What am I learning about running a business?
The first and most important thing is;
Learning Customer Service is everything People don’t just come for a hairstyle—they come for an experience. Being welcoming, listening to their needs, and ensuring they leave satisfied is what will keep them coming back.
Marketing Matters More Than I Thought I used to think hairstyling skills were the most important part of a salon business, but I’ve realized that if people don’t know about you, they can’t book with you! Learning how to market myself online has been a game-changer.
Tracking Finances is Key Every dollar spent on supplies, promotions, or even electricity matters. I’ve learned to keep track of my earnings and expenses so I can maximize my profits and avoid unnecessary spending.
What am I learning about myself?
I love being my own boss! There’s something so rewarding about building my own business from scratch and watching it grow.
I’m more resourceful than I thought. When challenges come up, I don’t panic, I figure out a way to fix the problem and keep moving forward.
Time management is my biggest weakness. I need to work on setting boundaries, managing my schedule better, and making time for rest.
NEXT STEPS I WILL TAKE
Improve my booking system to avoid overworking myself.
Track my product usageand set up a restocking schedule.
Run a social media promo to attract new clients.
Continue working on budgeting and managing expenses.
This journey is just beginning, and I’m excited to see how far I can take M.O’s Hair Haven!

Strengths and weaknesses
One of my strengths as an entrepreneur is being able to see opportunities that others might miss. I am not afraid to try new ideas and grow my business. When things don’t go as planned, I’m quick to bounce back and keep moving forward. I’m also good at leading my team and making sure we stay on track toward our goals. I can adapt to changes and new challenges when needed. I also have good communication and listening skills, and my most proud strength of all is that when I have a task to be completed, I not only make sure I do it, but I make sure I do a job well done.
I’m a problem-solver, always looking for creative ways to handle obstacles. I work hard and put in the effort to make my business succeed.
However, I do have a few weaknesses. Sometimes, I can be too impatient and want quick results, which can lead me to make rushed decisions. I can also be overconfident, which means I might overlook risks. I struggle with delegating tasks, preferring to take on too much myself, which can lead to stress. At times, I make quick decisions without fully thinking them through, and I tend to take on more than I can handle.
