Reblog if you 100% okay with a transgender person correcting you if you accidentally misgender them or use their dead name.

Unpopular opinion: straight people using “partner” to refer to their SO actually helps normalize the term so that lgbt folx can use it without automatically outing themselves to strangers. It also helps other straight ppl get comfortable with the fact that strangers aren’t entitled to information about other people’s gender or sexuality.

Tips on social transition for non-binary amab people
Be content with who you are right now
I can’t stress enough that the only reason that you ought to change anything about yourself is because it feels right. If you happen to be content with your appearance, or your voice, or your name, or anything else that is typically perceived as gendered, that is completely cool. You don’t have to do anything to be something that you already are intrinsically. This is just here to help you if you want to alter the behaviors and erase the expectations that were culturally conditioned into you and you don’t know where to start. If you want to medically transition, I suggest you look here and here. This post focuses on aspects of social transition.
Seek out trans woman tutorials even if not all the information will apply
Especially for voice, there isn’t any other way to go other than voice feminization. Personally, I find it best to apply most (or all) of the things that they talk about in voice feminization (things like tone, softness & rhythm). Other general stuff like walking posture and mannerisms(e.g. hand movements while speaking) can also be helpful as you may not ever have noticed these things unless you were specifically looking for them.
For clothing, trans women’s tutorials can also be very helpful and enlightening; even if you are not going for a distinctly feminine style, you might find a few little tidbits of information that help you to complete a look.
Spend more time with other LGBTQ+ people
Queer people tend to be the most accepting and most comforting people. Maybe even join a support group. Binary trans women’s groups might be happy to have you as well(just be sure to ask; if you are not a woman, then you are not entitled to their spaces). Take advantage of these resources. Not only can you be finding support in them but you can also be there for them whenever they might need support.
Be gentle with pronouns and other semantic things
Try to be both patient and gentle with people using your pronouns. Don’t expect people to immediately be able to (or in some cases even want to) use your pronouns. Don’t answer rudeness with more rudeness. I personally don’t even tell people what my pronouns are unless they ask me. To me, it is just easier not having to constantly educate/and or argue with people. It’s not your responsibility to educate everyone, though it is good to do so if you feel so inclined.
Bring a friend shopping
It can be very intimidating the first time going into the women’s section when you have never shopped there yourself and don’t really know what to look for, and doing it alone can be even more so. Bringing a friend will not only serve to boost your confidence but also you will have an extra set of eyes to help you narrow down options.
Also, here is a link to where you can find out what your body type is and guidelines on how to dress it (femininely).
Invest time and money into makeup
If you like makeup at all, even if you don’t want to wear makeup all the time, then being proficient is always going to be a plus. Seek out tutorials for men, women, trans women, androgynes and everything else. And then practice! Practice everyday or as often as you possibly can.
Here’s a makeup tutorial that I really like.
Find a hairstyle that makes you feel good
It’s easy to have a haircut that looks great and while finding one that makes you feel great is a lot more difficult, I find it much more rewarding. Personally, I can spend hours scouring the internet for a perfect haircut before finding one that really fits my fancy at that moment, yet I feel all the better because of it. Check out an article on hairstyles to fit your face shape or maybe just try a pixie cut! Also, colored hair might add to the ambiguity that you may be going for.
Spend a ridiculous amount of time on your eyebrows
Eyebrows are so important.
Learn to modify clothing
For example, the difference between just the sleeves on men’s and women’s shirts is very very extreme. If you have access to a sewing machine, here is a tutorial for modifying men’s or unisex T shirts to be more feminine. It will take time to learn to do this, but you can save a lot of money. There are other modifications you could do(like jeans), but the shirt sleeves one is not overly complex.
Bring out your inner anthropologist and notice people’s charisma
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  It may seem silly in a sims-esque kind of way, but you can watch videos about charisma on YouTube to understand a little better the reasons why people can be so like-able and charismatic. Through observation and assimilation of speech patterns, facial expressions, mannerisms and other behaviors you should find that you are quickly becoming more and more comfortable with yourself and your expression.
To finish this here are some other things that may be helpful
Passing by Autumn Asphodel-excellent tutorial
Voice feminization By Trans & Fit-also excellent
How to get pastel hair- cruelty-free and under $25
And here is a handy (free) program to analyze your voice frequency range.
If anyone has anything to add, please do so, and please share (:

Was beaver used to be giant? What is the difference between modern and prehistoric beaver?
There absolutely were giant beavers!
Let me introduce you to Castoroides:
Tumblr media
Giant Pleistocene Beaver, Castoroides ohioensis by Ryan Somma || CC BY 2.0
About the size of a black bear, around 2m long (6′6″), these huge beavers lived in North America between about 3 million years ago and 10,000 years ago. They weren’t the direct ancestors of modern beavers, but were instead more like evolutionary cousins to them.
Although their teeth were enormous, the chunky shape of their incisors wasn’t actually very good for chewing through tough wood and it’s not entirely clear whether they felled trees like their modern cousins. However, remains of a possible giant beaver lodge have been reported in Ohio, and an older close relative called Dipoides seems to have built dams, so it’s at least likely Castoroides did something similar too.
But the beaver family dates back over 30 million years, and there were plenty of other species in their lineage. Some of them didn’t even swim, and instead built strange spiral burrows deep into the ground…
