XAVIER & VICTORIA.
it wasn’t like she had great expectations about a night out. she would have rather chosen the karaoke rather than an old bar, but she knew her friend wanted somebody to spend the night and their voice would probably quit all their chances. for the two of them. she would leave early anyway, she thought, as she downed her very first drink, much too early to call it a night, but it almost seemed like there was no choice. that until somebody approached her. she must have been gawking at them with a little bit of jealousy, to be honest, that it got people’s attention. it took her a couple seconds to realize it was the friend of her friend’s friend (that made sense in her head). “please, not superman,” she rolled her eyes. “god, knowing her, she’ll want a classic rock wedding– she once told me she wanted a black dress. do you think they’ll work it out?”
Xavier finds it within him to feign some slight heartbreak. “Ah, come on now. What do you have against Mr. Clark Kent?” A hand goes up to his chest as if this is some personal attack, but the smile slipping through his facial features is enough to show he finds this conversation amusing. ( Hits on Spiderman, and it might be a different story, but thankfully that’s not the case. ) “I mean, I think my mother would have the court filings ready to change my name if I ever told her that my spouse was getting married in a black dress and I in a Superman suit, but... my manager’s a pretty normal guy at first sight, but he’s a real go-against-the-grain type if you know what I mean. “Don’t know if I want to sit through all of their wedding plan discussions, but I can’t say I wouldn’t find it entertaining to be there for the party.”

XAVIER & HANA.
she’s not exactly sure how she ended up in her current situation. one moment hana was deep in conversation with a co-worker who had asked her out to drink after their shift, the next she was left alone so that the co-worker in question can flirt with a person across the bar. she swirls the lemon peel in her nearly empty drink, contemplating whether or not to just leave (and then apologize for leaving without warning the next day) when xavier approaches. “a theme? i don’t know,” she muses. the weddings she’s accustomed to typically didn’t have such. “they do like superheroes, but i think they’re more of a batman fan, so i don’t know how that would work out.”
"Eh, Batman, Superman, I’m sure they’d be able to figure it all out. They always say marriage is all about communication and compromise.” It’s not like he’d particularly know having never even been in a relationship where marriage was ever in the picture. It had been something he’d heard his mother say quite a few times over the years though, typically following disagreements with his father over silly little things like vacation locations and what to have for dinner. “Then again, he’s, uh, my manager, so it’s mostly him giving directions and me taking them. Not a whole lot of compromise on that front.” Xavier gently scratches his beard, forcing down a bubble of short, awkward laughter. Extending his hand out, he adds on, “I’m Xavier. It’s nice to meet you.”

XAVIER & CALEB.
caleb didn’t mind his coworker leaving to go flirt with a cute bar stranger, really. he understood. it was being left alone in the middle of an outing for an extended amount of time, unsure if he should just leave or not, that left him awkward. was he supposed to remind them he was here? he’d been contemplating making an exit when he saw a familiar face and sighed in relief; he really didn’t want to leave feeling forgotten.
“superman? that’s a little cliche, don’t you think?” caleb asked with a slight grin. “he has to go all out if he’s not going traditional.” he welcomed xavier to the empty seat with a raise of his beer. “my friend isn’t the uh, marrying type, but i know the wedding would need a lot of pyrotechnics if it happened.” he paused to think about it. “which actually sounds pretty great, so now they have to get married at all costs.”
A laugh comes easily as he gets comfortable in the seat next to the other man. He’s never personally had an issue when it comes to being cliche. Xavier’d even go as far as to say he himself and his life are just that: one big cliche. So, he shrugs and pushes back the warm smile on his lips, “I mean, this isn’t my sha-bang remember, but that guy’s all about tradition in a comic book sense. First thing I knew about him wasn’t his name but that his favorite superhero was good ole Superman.” He glances back over at the friend and manager in question, bursting into laughter at the idea of pyrotechnics being utilized. “Well, you can say that ceremony’d go down in a blaze of glory. Looks like we have a bit of wingman work on our hands.”

PIPER & SEOKYUNG.
Seok smiled to the girl, who she had decided to walk home. Lately, she felt more and more responsible for other people, especially since she knew how to fight and most people didn’t. No, she probably would not be able to ward “You don’t have to keep thanking me. It’s okay.” She heard the girl out. “Yeah, I hear you.” She chuckled to herself. Seokyung hated thinking about her own family, but she could understand why caring parents would be mad at a daughter for walking alone in Shrike Heights. “A lot of my friends and co-workers have been scared to go home alone. It’s been…” She trailed off. That was really the thing she hated most, the fear on loved ones’ eyes. “Stop thanking me, please. Walking you home is really nothing. I’ll be fine.” She really didn’t want to tell the girl she had been walking the opposite direction of her own home.
She releases a shaky sigh masked behind a smile. Piper’s never been all too good about accepting other’s kindness or favors. Her family’s been built around the ideals of individualistic hard work and grit, needing no one. Maybe it’s because she’s the youngest out of herself and her five brothers or maybe it’s because she’s just a bit too much like her late mother — a bit too soft for that type of thinking — that she’s never been able to pull it off. “Oh, well, I can borrow the family car and drive you home. Least I can do for you.” She gives a small curt nod, as if that’s that and it’s decided. “No one will be using it this late at night anyways, and I’m — well, I live on my own technically, but it’s still on the family property, so we’ll only have an extra 200 feet or so to get to it. My father used to stick me on his lap behind the drivers seat before I could even walk, so it’ll be just fine. I mean, it was a tractor, but still.”

XAVIER & ISABELLE.
another night at julio’s. isabelle found herself at the bar once again for the company and reasonably priced alcohol — or she had until said company was flouncing off with coy twirls of her hair and too many giggles for isa to believe the man was that funny. thankfully she shared the role of third wheel with another.
“a wedding, already?” she invites him to the open seat via a nod then rests her chin in the palm of her hand. “she would make a beautiful wonder woman. but i’d have to be starfire in order for it to work out,” she grins. isabelle is grateful to avoid a night spent alone waiting for her friend to come to her senses. “are you two close? he’s apparently quite the charmer, but it looks like you weren’t expecting that.”
Eyebrows prick up at the mention of her own ‘look’ for the wedding. Xavier has always been more of a Marvel over DC fan, but he can’t deny that he loves Teen Titans nor the fact that he’s happy to find the other is also a fan of comics. “Starfire? Maybe I, um, can be Robin then.” It comes out a bit jumbled and rushed as Xavier forces down the uncomfortable warmth on his cheeks. It had only meant to be a harmless continuation of their conversation, an attempt to be friendly, but it didn’t take an expert in the art of flattery to see how it could come off. There was a reason he enjoyed his nights in so much.
He’s just grateful for the quick change in subject. “Nothing against him. He’s just my manager, so you know... only really see him in the managerial light. All business, marketing, crunching numbers in our inventory to prep for the upcoming releases. Can’t say I’ve seen him get loose.”

PIPER & RYANNE.
“Oh, you don’t have to thank me.” Ryanne tried to reassure the other, even though she would’ve done the same if things were reversed. “I really didn’t want to walk alone either with…” She trailed off, almost as if she thought mentioning what was happening would cause something to happen on what she was hoping would be an uneventful walk. “Things have really changed around here in a short amount of time, huh?” Her voice filled with a small mix of fear and sadness. While she didn’t have the best memories of this town, it was her home and the fact that it now felt like something out of a horror novel deeply unsettled her.
Ryanne doesn’t need to explain any further. Piper had never personally felt unsafe walking alone at night, finding some false sense of security in what she had previously thought to be a quiet town and her trusty butterfly knife. With all of the attacks, the killings, well — Piper felt better having another there as a sort of buddy system for her own sense of security. It only made it better that she could watch out for her friend as well. “We could start walking home together if you like? I’m not all too sure what your schedule looks like compared to mine, but... I don’t know. Might be nice.”
She grows quiet once more, humming as a small sound of approval at Ryanne’s next statement. Piper had grown up with her father warning her of all of the terrifying happenings across the country in the last decade. She just hadn’t expected to be living in her own horror film during this one. “How are you... how are you holding up? You been able to sleep okay?”

PIPER & JACOB.
‘‘No need to thank me again. Like I said before I’m happy to do it.’‘ Jacob smiled over at the woman after offering to walk her back home. He had always been protective of people but especially lately. ‘‘You grew up on a farm? It must have been a lot of fun when you were little.’‘ He noticed her wrinkle her nose and thought it was adorable. ‘‘I don’t think I caught your name.’‘
A sorry almost leaks out, but she catches it before it can slip through her lips. Best not to start over apologizing in lieu of excessive gratitude. She gives him a small smile instead accompanied by a tiny nod at his question. “Oh, it was the best.” Piper’s mind drifts, thinking fondly of coming home all dirty and worn out from hours of keeping up with her brothers all day. A moment turns into seconds, seconds into a little under a minute, until, “—oh! Um sorry just started thinking about...” hands go out lazily into a haphazard shrug, “...it’s a hog farm, so um... lot’s of family pigs, but I also have one who actually it’s a little overdue for a bath. Her name’s Fiona, but — right, you asked for mine. I’m Piper, but you can call me Pip.”

XAVIER & ROSARIO.
Rosario wasn’t going to be the one to rain on their friend’s parade and break up the massive heart eyes being exchanged, but she was definitely a little disappointed by her lack of company. Drinking alone wasn’t a good look on anyone and it certainly lacked the fun she’d been hoping to have tonight. The thought of waving a quick goodbye and then leaving to find something else to do with the night briefly crossed their mind, but before any decisions could be made, they found themselves in the company of someone else.
A laugh left their lips as they gestured for the other to sit in the open seat. The talk of weddings was more than welcomed considering the doom and gloom that usually loomed over every conversation had these days. “I hate to admit it, but I don’t think they’re a themed wedding person. More of the very traditional type thing. But I would love to see them persuaded into something more fun. Who really wants to sit through the same thing each time they go to a wedding after all?”
For what felt like more of an awkward introduction to some conversation, Xavier finds himself surprised, but happy, to see the positive reaction to his little picture of the future fictional wedding. A scoff had been expected, a roll of the eyes maybe and forced smile, but not laughter. “Traditional?” he asks, his eyes glancing back over at the friend in question. Sure, he could see it... maybe. Then again, for someone that considered himself an artist, maybe Xavier should be a bit better at reading people and drawing conclusions. “I mean, I couldn’t agree more. Maybe that’s just how we do it then? Convince them that it’d be no fun sitting at a wedding a few months after yours just to have it be the same exact set up? Don’t get me wrong, love Princess Di, but can you imagine how stuffy that wedding was? The suits, the dress?”

𝐖𝐇𝐎: open / @shrikestart !
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: after dinner time !
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄: julio’s bar !
The first night of Xavier having a social outing with his manager, and they were already off mingling with someone who had caught their eye at the bar. Swirling the drink in his glass, he considers calling it a night. It’s getting late, he’s had a long day regardless... The excuses keep piling until, when lifting the drink up to his lips, his eyes catch who must’ve been the friend of his manager’s current interest. Maybe he’s just projecting ( he knows he probably is ), but they look just as confused as he does sitting there looking over at the two, and so a different decision is made.
Picking up his now empty glass, he drops it off at the bar and makes a sharp turn towards the individual in question. “I figured it might be about time we start betting on the wedding theme.” He points then to the seat next to them, “I’m um.. thinking my buddy will do a whole Superman theme. Wear a shirt with the big ‘S’ underneath the tux? Hope your friend’s up for that kinda thing.”

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: late at night !
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄: right outside of shrike mall !
"Hey, uh, thank you — again.” She had said that already, too many times in the last ten minutes. It was a habit picked up from childhood. Too many thank you’s, too many sorry’s, even if they’re unnecessary or she’d do just the same. Still it felt important to let the other person know their company on her walk home was welcomed and appreciated. “Pretty sure my dad would lock me in my place if he caught me walking back this late alone, which is funny considering he used to let my brothers and I run around the farm even later than this back when I was still in... diapers.” Too late. It’s not exactly the topic of conversation she was aiming for, nor the image, but it was out there now. Nose wrinkling up, part in disgust and predominantly in embarrassment, Pip’s eyes shift over to the other. “Anyways, uh, thank you.”

hobbies: art, scary movie watching (less so now), local adults league soccer club, journaling, comic book writing.

TBD. — WILL BE REPOSTED WHEN I WRITE OUT THE WHOLE THING
SHORT DESCRIPTION IN THE MEANTIME: Himbo Troy Bolton wanna be in short. He’s always wanted to be a comic book author and only got the job because the owner of the place knows him from when he was a kid. he has lived here for about 10 years now and truly loves it. Likely has marker stains on his clothes as we're speaking and maybe some glitter too from making signs for the youth soccer teams he coaches in his freetime. He is #JustTryingHisBest.

platonic. art buddies!!! this could really be anyone that is an artist or is interested in art. xav isn't a phenomenal artist, but it is his passion and spends most of his time painting, drawing, doodling, you name it. maybe this is even someone looking for a little art advice? maybe they're his current muse? parents/guardians of the youth league he coaches,,,, he definitely gets to know his fair share of the shrike heights parents during games/practices, and if he's good at one thing, it's taking care and supporting his kiddos. and ofc general buddies... he's an awkward guy, but please give him some buddies whether it's casual, from the adult soccer league, idc. familial. any siblings and/or parents. but honestly? he's been here for 20 years. maybe distant relatives have moved here after hearing how much xavier and co.likes it. like family — someone vouched for xavier to get this job (and likely the coaching gig too). i would love for that person to be a former classmate, maybe a distant relative, someone he met at a comic book or art conference.... anything! romantic. he’s an disaster when it comes to relationships. he has little to no game, but wants to love someone so badly. he will likely give them lil momentos to show his interest but likely comes off too strong. maybe your muse has a lil flirtationship going on with him? maybe they're one of his many unrequited crushes? maybe they hooked up in the past and it's awkward now?? negative. let’s be honest.... people take sports too seriously whether it’s the world cup, youth league, or adult rec league... maybe these two got in a fight one time over something silly and it was just never resolved,

𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜 𝗕𝗜𝗢.
Carla and Daniela Castillo, both in their mid-forties, had traveled the world together, found themselves in exciting and stable careers, and more than anything wanted to at last settle down with a child. When they adopted Saint, the agency had assured them both that their new child was the smiliest baby any of them had ever seen. That, however, was nothing close to comparing to the bright, toothless grin cast across his small face. Love at first sight, that’s what they told him when he was old enough to start talking and asking about his adoption.
That love never ceased, if anything, it only grew, and with nowhere else to put it, Saint attempted to pass that love along to others. Carla and Daniela may have been his mothers, but they weren’t the only ones who raised him. Siblings, Aunties, Grandparents, and Cousins alike — his mothers’ own found family — brought him into their lives and raised him as if he were their own. Saint, wanting to continue what his mothers had started, was determined to build his own little found family of friends he met along the way.
[ tw/cw: brief mentions/hints of homelessness ] Formal school and studying may not have been his strength, but when put in front of a crowd, he shined. Outgoing, charismatic, with just a hint of a playful mischievousness, he drew in new friends that he’d work with on stage or in the crowd after performances. By the time he graduated high school, Saint committed himself to performance and building a community. He may have been lucky with his mothers and other various guardians, but he wasn’t naive. Saint had heard the need his mothers had to find community and a place to call home, the same need that he heard echoed in those around him. [ tw end ]
[ tw/cw: hospital, illness ] In San Francisco, he established himself in the ball and drag scene, building up a space for himself that bridged the gap between his generation and that of his mothers. But just as he was beginning to make a name for himself within the music scene, and despite any signs, Carla grew ill. It was time, both his mothers said, for them to leave the hustle and bustle of the city. A quieter life with access to a good hospital is what they needed. [ tw end ]
While his mothers pleaded with him to stay in San Francisco, continue on with his career that seemed to be on the brink of taking off, Saint couldn’t manage the idea of them starting off new lives, in a new place, alone. Promising he would return to San Francisco after a year, just enough time to insure they were both alright, he followed them to Shrike Heights. One year turned into two, and two into five.
He’s remade a life for himself, and while it’s not a move he ever thought his life would take, Saint’s never regretted his decision. Self-assured enough to know that he can make the move back to a big city if need be, he’s enjoying the life he has now — not exactly quiet but quieter — with his moms and the friends they meet along the way.

- character inspiration: lil papi evangelista from pose, jj maybank from outer banks, alex claremont-diaz from red, white, and royal blue
- will constantly be dancing, whether it’s while leading the classes or shopping for groceries he’s probably swaying along to some song stuck in his head
- probably the worst bartender in all of colorado, but he’ll crack jokes while making it for you, flirt a little, hype you up, and overall try to make sure you forget he messed it up.
- speaking of flirting… massive flirt but has a rule that he will never hook up with any patrons while on the job as a bartender or any current students of his classes. he finds it tacky.
- if you have ever needed a place to stay the night, you’ve likely ended up at at saint’s. he’s designed the interior of his place to ensure there are plenty of pull out couches, blow up mattress in storage, and even a guest bedroom in case someone needs a safe place to crash.
- calls himself the dad friend even though he’s much more of a brotherly figure.
- big fan of kissing friends ( with consent ) goodnight
- cries a lot even though he’ll swear up and down that he’s not a crier. if you catch him crying ( you probably have ) he’ll always have a new excuse for why it’s not the sappy movie the two of you just sat down to watch.
- he sings and plays the guitar. mostly does more funk and electronic but will jam with anyone that gives him the opportunity

𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜 𝗕𝗜𝗢.
Born the youngest of five, Pip, whether she liked it or not, was thrown into the role of being the baby of the family. Childhood was sweet, idyllic even. Dirt consistently clung to her skin and embedded itself into her fingernails from long days out exploring her family’s farm land and attempting to keep up with her brothers. Her mother and father, the prime example of opposites attract, tended to all of their needs and smothered her with more love than she knew what to do with.
By the summer before she entered kindergarten, her parents had big hopes for her. Already well beyond the guidelines for entering her primary years after spending time peaking over her brothers’ homework, they all believed that out of anyone, she would make it big. Bright, curious, cheery, and with six loving, supportive family members behind her, no one had any reason to question it.
( death ( of a loved one ), bullying tw ) Things changed so rapidly. One moment her mother was there, and the next she wasn’t. Her father and the preacher at her mother’s funeral said she had gone away, a place called heaven. It always looked nice, at least from the drawings in her picture book Bible and the paintings on her church wall. It was just, she wanted her mom here, on the farm, with her. Maybe then she could tell her how to make more friends or figure out why so many of the kids made fun of the clothes she wore or how to get out the smell of manure that they always said she stunk of but she could never quite sense. ( tw end )
She mostly kept her head down throughout the rest of her school years. Pip got good grades, tried to join a few clubs and activities, and pushed forward with the hopes that all those people saying “just wait for college, best years of your life,” were right. However, by the time admission rolled around, and she stared down at the blank page for her admissions essay, Pip couldn’t come up with a single thing to say. The truth was: she didn’t know herself, so how could she know what she wanted to do or study?
Four years have passed now, and she’s still not sure of an answer to that question. Without any passion other than to escape and really know herself, and without the means to even do just that, she’ll stay here in Shrike Heights dreaming of maybes and tomorrows that she hopes come soon enough.

- character inspirations: kya from where the crawdads sing, dot campbell from the wilds, eleanor crain from the haunting of hill house.
- she hates being indoors for long periods of time. pip loves to be outside exploring, laying out in the sun and doodling whatever it is that catches her eye, or buried in yet another book.
- she has a pig, fiona, that she’s been raising ever since she was a kid. fiona does sleep in the new carriage house around back with her rather than with the other pigs.
- fidgets a lot, which has made some people nervous in the past because it’s almost like she has some unknown energy source she’s unable to get rid of.
- she used to play pick-up hockey, and despite her small size, she was scappy after years of playing with only her older brothers.
- when the mall opened up, her father almost didn’t allow her to work as he insisted they needed her on the farm. while the pay is without a doubt better, the recent killings have only increased her father’s insistence to quit.

platonic. childhood friends: i imagine she had a small group of tight knit friends that she still cares deeply about even if they’re not as close. fellow hiking/camping lovers. anyone else that frequents the local library or even book club friends. a devil on her shoulder type that pushes her out of her comfort zone even if sometimes its a bit too much. queer mentor type that helped her get more comfortable with her sexuality and maybe even is the person she came to first about her gender identity. familial. father. older brothers. cousins, siblings to her mom or father, grandparents, anything! romantic. likely has had lots of unrequited crushes over the years. i could forsee her having had one girlfriend/partner in the past.. was likely short-lived due to pip’s inability to fully ‘know herself’ or what she wants. maybe one or two drunk one-night-stands that she deeply regrets and avoids. negative. childhood bullies, rival farmers growing up?, anyone who may not have gotten along with her brothers or father, anyone bothered by pip’s commitment to playing almost all sad love songs on the radio.
