A brief bullet-point list of the executive orders Trump signed yesterday. The tiktok thing is a distraction. If you are in the US, please read this. It will take less than 5 minutes. Gift article so no paywall
Some of the items on that list:
Freeze federal hiring except for military and immigration enforcement.
Bar asylum for people newly arriving at the southern border; declare migrant crossings at the southern border to be a national emergency; suspend the entire Refugee Admissions Program.
Terminate DEI initiatives across the federal government.
Recognize only two sexes; remove protections for transgender people in federal prisons.
Withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement, the pact among almost all nations to fight climate change.
Declare a national energy emergency, a first in U.S. history, which could unlock new powers to suspend certain environmental rules or expedite permitting of certain mining projects.
Try to undo Biden’s ban on offshore drilling for 625 million acres of federal waters; undo Biden-era tailpipe pollution regulations and other energy-efficiency, fossil fuel, and pollution regulations.
Open the Alaska wilderness to more oil and gas drilling.
Eliminate environmental justice programs across the government, which are aimed at protecting poor communities from excess pollution.
Withdraw from the World Health Organization.
Ensure that states carrying out the death penalty have a “sufficient supply” of lethal injection drugs.
Create the Department of Government Efficiency with Elon Musk in charge.

So, I heard people on other platforms say that when you search for the constitution, the page is not found, and it seems to be unavailable when I checked, but this is not the only resource missing. Some immigration websites and apps are also unavailable, this is not a coincidence. It’s all connected to Trump trying to get rid of birthright citizenship and the mass deportations going on in certain cities. Please check this website on what to do during an ICE encounter, and spread this information, as this is useful for individuals, families employers who want to protect loved ones or their employees. Remember your rights.

I just read that Donald Trump and his circus took down a website called reproductiverights.gov
This was a website to help women learn about their reproductive rights in the US and to find health care.
This is absolutely disgusting so I’ll share in this post some resources in case you need them:

Why almost every big social media site is from the US?
I'm aware that mourning an app is pathetic in a situation where people's lives are endangered with a certain orange man becoming the president again, but I'm genuinely worried how US centric social media is limiting the freedom of speech everywhere outside the States as well.
In this screenshot that has made rounds around the web today, we see the differences in an app that isn't own by an US company.
We can see that the censorship only affects those who are from the US in TikTok. But that's not the case with the dumpsterfire app Twitter, and that is not the case with Instagram either.
Today, many Finnish (and others as well) leftist people and politicians have noticed how political content has been hidden. Tags such as #theleft, #democrat, #kamalaharris and #leftist has been hidden or made unusable. This post is from a member of the Finnish Left group:
I've also been made aware that they have banned tags like #conservative as well, but not #republican and certainly not #donaldtrump.
Unlike in Tiktok, the political propaganda of Trump and his crew affects the entire world.
And I'm truly saddened to see if Instagram becomes unusable just like Twitter. I don't want to see leftist accounts being banned or restricted. We need social media apps that aren't US made. Europe should step up. I'm tired of the whole online world being the United fascist States of America.

Donald Trump created a bit of a social media stir and even had a congresswoman asking exactly what he meant, with a comment he had about Elon Musk during his “Make America Great Again Victory Rally,” on Sunday.
On the eve of his inauguration, Trump praised Musk’s work with SpaceX before quickly moving into the work that he did on the campaign trail.
“And then he journeyed to Pennsylvania, where he spent like a month and a half campaigning for me in Pennsylvania,” Trump said. “And he’s a popular guy. And he was very effective. And he knows those computers better than anybody.”
The next couple of sentences … well, they are the ones that had folks talking.
“All those computers,” Trump continued. “Those vote counting computers. And we ended up winning Pennsylvania like in a landslide. So it was pretty good. It’s pretty good.”
Jasmine Crockett, a Democratic congresswoman from Texas, shared the clip from Trump’s speech and questioned just exactly the President-elect was getting at with the odd mention of Trump’s knowledge of vote counting computers.
“So, Trump is rambling on about he and Elon rigging the election?!” she wrote on X. “Am I missing something or is he confessing to yet another damn crime?!”
You can see the clip, here.
Musk responded to a clip of the comment with a salute emoji on X.
Crockett was not the only person on X to question just what Trump meant by the comment. Worse, it set off a whole new wave of election denying conspiracies again working to undermine elections.
Trump has not elaborated on the comment, but he will almost certainly be asked for clarification at some point. And, while it was a strange addition to his speech, there is no evidence of wide-spread cheating in this past election or in 2020.
Still, it will be interesting to see what Trump has to say about this one when he is asked.
