I'm not even like deaf or hoh but if you're adding subtitles to something I think you should always transcribe foreign languages too. None of that [Speaks Spanish] shit. You don't need to translate it to english. But you need to at least give the option for a deaf person to read it and understand it themselves. I don't care if it's not important to the plot. My wife just had 2 upper front teeth pulled and is having even more teeth pulled in a few weeks (including the rest of her upper front teeth) We really need some help to cover painkillers and groceries since every meal I had already bought and prepped this month is now literally inedible to her. We're also completely broke after having to spend over $450 in utilities on top of rent and having to refill my wife's Eliquis prescription at full price, which just makes remedying this situation ourselves impossible.

Even before all this wife has only been able to chew with one side of her mouth for the past 5 years. It would never have gotten this bad if it wasn't for the fact that every single caseworker my wife has had in the last 6 years has repeatedly filed the wrong paperwork or just lied about the dental programs in available for people with severe chronic illnesses.

Please if anyone could help us out, even just by sharing this post would mean the world to us. Everything is just spiraling out of control lately and it's so difficult to keep our heads above water.

Oklahoma is attempting to pass a bill that would ban explicit romance novels. Authors, narrators, and sellers could all face fines of up to $100,000 and up to 10 years in jail for each instance.

If you live in OK, call your representative and tell them this bill should not be allowed to pass.

This is likely a test case. Republicans will try to pass it in OK and if it passes other states will likely try to pass similar laws.

In the meantime, get physical copies of books you like. Download those pdfs. Archive your AO3 stories and keep them on a physical hard drive. (Storing those files in the cloud could be problematic in the future as the company managing the cloud service can see what your files are)

today i found out that when monarch butterflies migrate south for the winter, all the ones that go across the middle of lake superior suddenly stop going south and go west for five miles and then continue south. which really freaked scientists out cos like What is in the Middle of Lake Superior what do Butterflies know that We Dont Is This The End Times etc. anyway turns out about a hundred million years ago there was a mountain there and the butterflies still think they gotta fly around it. classic butterflies
