Pairing: Bucky x reader

Summary: When Bucky’s arm becomes too heavy to carry, he finds help where he didn’t expect it.

A/N: This is an idea I had in mind for a whole now! Thank you to my darling @sgtjbuccky​ for giving this a read and loving it so much! I hope you guys enjoy it too!!

Bucky’s metal arm is a wonder of science, an imbrication of wires and plates, metal and copper that could punch a hole through the thickest walls or fold the thinnest gold sheet without tearing it apart. Bucky’s metal arm is a weapon, already a marvel ahead of every technology when it was first built and forced onto him. Bucky’s metal arm used to hurt people, it used to kill.

And, if today Bucky’s metal arm is used to do good, it is terribly heavy to carry and hurts the former Winter Soldier on a daily basis. Despite the years and the serum, the skin around his shoulder is still raw and, after a heavy fight and on rainy days, his joints hurt. The several pounds of metal lead to Bucky’s unbalance, forcing him to stand up a little too straight, sometimes tipping a little on the right side.

A/N: i wrote this like a million years ago when i was watching homecoming again (so the following is the commentary i had written when i first wrote this: (and that scene with tony walking out of the suit still does things to me… WHEW what a man. also i can never find tony fics.. so here’s to more tony!!)) ANYWAY uhhhh i just reread it now so i can finally post it because it’s literally just finished and sitting in my drafts and i am incredibly upset about endgame (no spoilers in this fic, i promise (especially since i wrote this before endgame came out LMAO)) and thought we all deserved some fucking fics to distract us (honestly i’ll prob write another reader insert but involving endgame and Changing it bc its a MESS at some point) and uhHhhH anyway i love tony so here we all go

It was 2 am, and you still couldn’t sleep. Tony, however, was passed out next to you. You were jealous he’d been able to drift off so easily, but since it was so rare, you let him rest.

At the same time…. no, you couldn’t wake him up. 

But you also wanted to go to sleep so badly… and there was just one, particularly bothersome feeling keeping you up.

“Tony,” you whispered, shaking him lightly.

“Mm,” he groaned a little before silence settled over the room again. Even the fan was quiet. 

“Tony,” you whined, shaking him more. 

He groaned a little louder, and you barely made out him asking, “What?”

“I can’t sleep,” you moaned. You tried your best to sound sexy, so that maybe he’d get the hint, but you just sounded whiney. 

“Sorry to hear that,” he murmured, turning onto his side and facing away from you.

“Hey,” you grumbled, hitting his back lightly.

“Come on, Y/N, I’m sleeping.” His voice was deep and gravelly, and it turned you on just a little more.
