Whoever made this photoshop missed the context of Mayella Ewell’s story in To Kill a Mockingbird. Mayella was beaten and raped, just not by Tom Robinson, but by her father Bob Ewell. The point of the overarching stories in the book shows how an apartheid and racism affects and demeans everyone, including the women that Ewell and his ilk calm to protect because, in that setting and time, the laws protect that “protect” Mayella can’t protect her from her father. What also separates To Kill a Mockingbird from what happened in the Cavanagh hearing is that he the Senate passed him to join the supreme court, and overwhelming evidense of his attitudes and actions towards women was ignored. if anything Brett Cavanagh is not a victim but an example of white male mediocrity. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Tom Robinson was found guilty and killed, not because of Mayella Ewell’s testimony, but because of Bob Ewell’s and the rest of the Maycomb community to set an example.

So whoever made this photoshop has made it clear that they never read the book or understood the movie

if i worked at marvel comics

here is a few things i would do

-bring back old-man!steve rogers. cause honestly i liked him. and i would keep sam as captain america.

-build up more america-themed heroes that do exist, but everyone has kinda forgotten about them, like american eagle. as well as create new ones. example, buffalo soldier, a legacy name that is being held up by a black infantrywoman, power set includes hyper adaptation in any battle, enhanced strength and stamina, psychometry, and magic-based empathy. her powers come from a buffalo-hunter’s charm that was given to her ancestor by his souix bride.

-a scarlet witch/vision solo series, where they raise viv and billy and tommy hang out.

-add black knight to the line up of featured legacy heroes and have a storyline where he meets previous black knights and future black knights, one of them being his son with frazia.

-have logan with the time!gem be revealed to be albert, the android created to look like logan, turned good, and got stranded back in time with another android, elsie dee.

-a storyline that reveals logan’s half-brother, jonathan howlett to be alive and manipulating events.

-give jimmy hudson his own personality instead of just being a complete clone of logan, only with blonde hair. he meets his 616!adoptive-parents and their daughter claire.

-it turns out that xavier and lilandera had a son, who is being raised by gladiator and out of the eyes of the empire.

-a quicksilver and luna solo series.

-a new young avengers title. line up would have speed in a mentor role, ahura, sarah carter-rogers from battleworld!hydra, rikki barnes aka nomad, hummingbird, power man (ii), doctor photon, sofie strange, and cloud 9. the big storyline that it would involve a time-cross caper with 3 other different timelines, and team ups with those respective next generation of avengers: the next generation from the secret wars II battleworld, the ones from the mc2, and the next avengers from the direct-to-dvd movie.

-a new warriors title.

-bring phylla-vell back from the dead.

-a cloak and dagger solo title.

and that is all that i can think of off the top of my head right now.

what i wish for the future

this just popped into my head as i was getting dressed. this is all from my imagination: 5 years into the future with the next big MCU event, luke evans has been cast as captain britain (cause after the hobbit, nailing it as gaston, and playing the creator of wonder woman, i honestly believe evans can play brian braddock with sincerity, with humor and pathos. the only thing that the jury is still out is still out on is if he would be able to pull off blonde) sean bean as the mad thinker (this post is what got me on that train of thought http://www.theusofn.com/casting-call-fantastic-four/), jason isaacs as kang (he is a self admitted nerd, and if anyone can pull off a time traveling villian that is fueled by plotholes and can chew a scene up, it’s this man), emma watson as jocosta (for all of the haters that said she was robotic as belle  (which i didn’t see), i think she would be perfect as gynodroid developing her own identity and autonomy), and legion has been folded into the MCU so dan stevens is also there at the interview. as the interview goes on, it dawns between luke evans, dan stevens, sean bean, and jason isaacs, that all of them have read the nextwave mini-series by warren ellis, and they break out in the nextwave theme song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xuosmf1_mKs (dan breaks out a banjo). emma's just lost and amused, with jason promising her he'll lend her his copy of nextwave for her to read
