Otome Jam Thoughts 2025: My Husband is a Stranger

Summary:

Your life should be perfect. The perfect career. The perfect family. The perfect husband. And bit by bit, that perfect life is cracking all around you.

As your life falls apart, you retreat to your family's estate on a remote island. But after a storm washes away your only means of escape, you find that you're trapped with your devoted, perfect husband... who might not be the man you married.

Every game that Chattercap releases is a banger and this is no different. It's currently still a demo (has up to day 4, full version will have 7 days) but I was so enraptured by the dynamic going on. I loved how complicated and messy the main character was, and the way that played into their relationship with their husband. I'm also fascinated by what our (not) husband really is, especially with the way the demo left off. I was so sad when it was over and I'm so so excited for the full version.

I hate to say it, but the way insecurities were presented and how it showcased all the ways it can affect your relationship negatively if you let it fester, was so relatable, especially to a younger me. The way the main character was so in their head about it, that it even made me, the reader, start to doubt the relationship was So Good. I also enjoyed how creative burn out was shown as well as what happens when you have an unhealthy relationship with art. All of these things, on top of the MC's grief over losing their family, just entwine together into a perfect narrative. I was completely immersed.

I also really loved the GUI in this, and the little achievement pop ups were a nice touch. The whole game was well done visually. I personally think this looks the best of Chattercap's games so far, tbh. It was also just so cohesive and nice to look at.

Anyway, I can't believe I'm a little obsessed with an evil Blond Man, but here we are. If you want more horror otomes, then this is the one for you.

Hellooooooooo it's me again (aka Emerson aka the author of Burning Academia). I've been toying with this idea for a while, but I have come to realize that I really miss writing events, specifically ones that felt like they have a community. NaNoWriMo was actually a big part of my writing experience growing up (I'd been doing it since 2013), and it was a major motivator for me personally. Since it is now dead for a variety of reasons, I wanted to start something in the same vein as it that was more suited to the things I write now (ie VNs and IFs), so you know, why not try to make something in a similar vein!

Since VN/IF writing is vastly different than novel writing, I was thinking of making the goal about 25k words with a "Stretch Goal" or "Overachiever Goal" at 50k. However, I was also thinking of potentially making different goals centered around coding/art assets/etc to accommodate where people are at in their projects! This would just be a really casual/chill event to just have a personal challenge to yourself, and there's no pressure to release anything, you'd just hopefully have the community feeling of a bunch of other people attempting the same challenge as you :>

This is very much in the broad strokes stage, as I don't want to get too carried away if no one's interested in it, but I made a short interest form if you are!

Otome Jam Thoughts 2025: Help! I tried to Summon the Perfect Boyfriend...

Full Title: Help! I tried to Summon the Perfect Boyfriend and Messed Up so I Summoned a Demon Instead!?!?

Summary:

You want to summon the perfect boyfriend, but you end up ruining your summoning circle and get a demon instead. 

Oh no, the horror, two hot demon boyfriends. What ever shall you do? Can you find a way to romance the demons? Or will it end in shambles? 

I mean, they are demons after all.

Thoughts:

This was a short game about accidentally summoning a demon, and which demon you summon depends on which magic circle you pick in the beginning. There were 9 endings and I got most of them, although there was one or two I couldn't hunt down.

This was honestly a lot of fun, and the art in this was so pretty? I loved the demon designs, and if you're into monster-esque dudes, then this is your game. It also has a flare of dark humor, and honestly, there were a few lines that made me laugh out loud.

Since it's super short, I don't think it'll leave a long lasting impression, but I honestly enjoyed my time with it. It's one of those games you play to relax and kill thirty minutes on a day off.
