Hi Duke. So I remember a website where you could choose a Shakespeare sonnet or play and a role, then you'd be given the cue lines and could type in the lines for that character. It really helped me learn lines when I was in Midsummer. I think I found it on your blog. Do you have any idea what this website is? I've looked and looked but can't find it! Thanks!

June 12th: Book Haul: The Wee Free Men, Poison Study, The Puzzler's Mansion, The Crossing of Ingo, The Deep, This Dark Endeavor, The Paper Magician, Alanna: The First Adventure, Sliding Into Home, A Wolf at the Door, and Broken Forest.

This was a little over a year ago, but this stack was accumulated by a variety of used book sales, Barnes and Noble visits, and Amazon purchases all in a short period of time.

June 10th: Book Review: The Boy Who Could Fly

Rating: 4/5

This book is about a boy who lives a miserable existence in an orphanage, with no hope of escape. One night, a mysterious creature called the loblolly boy appears, and offers to trade his life for the boy's. However, this comes with a cost, as it is discovered later that though the loblolly boy can fly and is invisible, he exists on a different plane of existence, and cannot interact with reality, unless he finds another person to switch lives with. An incredibly intriguing premise that is executed with aplomb, as the boy's dilemma becomes more intense, as he finds that he is being hunted by a collector that can somehow see and touch him, and he finds a pair of twin girls who can see him, and he must decide if he will take one of their lives, and subject one of them to the fate of the loblolly boy.

A point off for a not very threatening antagonist, somewhat predictable twists, and a rushed climax and resolution. However, this is balanced out by the sheer wonder and creativity of some of these ideas, from the implications of being detached from reality and responsibilities, but also from one's humanity, to fate leading one's path, but also one directing fate in new directions.

June 9th: Book That Changed How You Think: I Am the Messenger

With a story focusing on the actions of one and the implications of not finding meaning in one's life, this book hits harder now than it did when I first read it, as I have surpassed the main character in age, and his whole dilemma was feeling like a failure at nineteen. Also, this was my first encounter with metafiction, and you can be sure I was VERY confused. Not so much now.

June 7th: Recommendations: The Mysterious Benedict Society series

I read the first book in 7th grade, as a summer reading assignment, loved it, and got the subsequent books in the following years. Chock-full of puzzles and mystery, I highly recommend these books.
