Honestly, I would mostly just suggest chatting with other people in the OSHAverse! Either via dms, asks, or the discord if you're in it! If you think it might help, you can always use that kind of feeling to set things up with other characters - maybe your character also feels like they're on the outside of things, and maybe wants to become more involved somehow. Perhaps they want to become closer with other people in OSHA, but haven't had the chance, or were too busy before?

I know talking to people can feel scary, but I fully reccomend it! I personally am fully happy to discuss an interaction in DMs for any of my accounts - @osha-janitor @groundskeeperosha and @highlandswarden (A version of Warden Ingo from Pokemon Legends Arceus who got yeeted to OSHA) are the ones I'm currently most active on, but I do have several more!

Kishar and them currently have some Plot going on, so if you just want someone less plot-heavy to interact with, Ingo is available!

An FAQ for some common questions for the OSHAverse. Note that this is NOT a hard guideline or anything, I am just one person and the OSHAverse is full of interesting, unique people with their own thoughts and opinions!

What is the OSHAverse?

The OSHAverse is a roleplaying universe set around the “OSHA building”, and related areas. It encompases multiple ‘realities’, so basically anything goes, and it has no overarching storyline; everything is character focused. The OSHAverse is basically a setting where characters who would be seen as “OP” are common, and as such are more balanced and able to work easily. The building itself is frequently seen as a sort of genus loci - a living location - or other anomalous area, which adds to the experience.

Where/when is the OSHAverse set?

The OSHAverse has no strict setting or time, though it’s generally seen as being approximately modern-day. The OSHA building contains an overlap of multiple realities, so it could conceivably be anywhere, anytime. For example, in one reality, it is a location-hopping area that was originally founded in ancient mesopotamia. For others, it varies.

What is the common lore of the OSHAverse?

The only real common lore is based around what characters currently exist in the OSHAverse. For example, there are grounds and a groundskeeper (groundskeeperosha), a cafeteria with two cooks (osha-cafeteria-worker), and many departments. The past of OSHA changes based on the character asked, due to OSHA’s inherent crossing of realities. Some soft lore is that realities were potentially crossed due to the creation of a device by Alam and (At the time) Ellasyn, (Found on osha-janitor and osha-embroider-department as Alam and Embroidery/Hetemit), but this can easily be ignored.

Why is it based around OSHA?

The OSHAverse was originally created due to the deletion of oshaofficial, and as more and more people became interested, it became more and more complex.

What kind of characters are in the OSHAverse?

The characters in OSHA vary from Eldritch beings, to humans, to vampires, to energy beings shaped like hedgehogs. There are no ‘typical’ OSHA characters, though they tend to be very powerful, or otherwise ‘Special’. Of course, the usual character rules apply, but in general they are more powerful than characters usually are. Most are OCs, or in some cases Self Inserts or “Metabeings” - more like Author Inserts, to be brief - but some come from pre established media, such as Eteled from wiiosha, or Pures from hallowed-osha. 

How do I interact with the OSHAverse with/without my own RP blog?

Generally, just as you would interact with any other RP universe. As far as the OSHAverse goes, any character could visit, since many realities overlap there, but it really comes down to personal preference for each account. As a non-rp account you can reblog posts or send asks - sending asks is highly recommended!

How do I join the OSHAverse?

Joining the OSHAverse is easy! Simply make an account and begin sending asks to other blogs! I have a new account advice tag HERE but it’s really just a recommendation. 

What do I do if there’s already a character with my idea?

Overlap isn’t really a problem in the OSHAverse, but if you’re concerned about stepping on anyone’s toes, you can always have them either join that person’s department, or just message the person in question and ask if they’re comfortable with your concept. There are a lot of unique ways to portray the same idea after all!

How many people/characters are in the OSHAverse?

The answer is quite a lot! Many people have multiple accounts for various characters, so the character count is a lot higher than the amount of people running them. I have been attempting to set up a catalogue of accounts but it’s… a lot harder than you would think.

How do I set up events/lore with people?

Messaging people is the way to go! Discuss things with people before you do things! There is a discord for OSHA, which makes discussing events or lore much easier, but if your lore or event doesn’t rely on other people, you can just start it! Making sure other people see it can be tricky, but I recommend sending asks about it! (EG, if the event involves your character being cursed, send asks as the character displaying traits of the curse.

How do I get my new OSHA account more seen by others?

Asks and responding to threads! There’s no one way to get seen more, but proactively interacting with other people will help a ton!

How does the OSHAverse interact with the Showerfam/BDU?

Generally, the OSHAverse is quite flexible, and can interact with any other ‘universe’ without problem. So generally, interactions are as per normal, depending on the characters! Some cross over easily, others less so. It’s a personal choice!

Personally the way I describe OSHA is basically "A large building became a genus loci either before or after being associated with OSHA, and now it draws in many unusual individuals, all of whom interact in strange, interesting ways. Sometimes there's violence."

Can someone PLEASE tell me what the OSHA fandom is about???? How do you make a fandom around job safety? And then there's a lot of talented artists praying their characters??? Please I'm genuinely interested

In all seriousness though someone should make an OSHA history catalogue that just catalogs the most memorable OSHAverse moments, both heavy lore and random meme things that need to be memorialized

Hmmm... Maybe to make it easier we could have each blog pick their own (or others, I guess?) "historic moments" and compile them. So a big poll for what counts as important, and then a few people who actually arrange it. I could do the arranging, probably.

I might try and go through my own accounts and tag what I think are important moments for kish and my other characters. Apparently my posts on osha-janitor don't get into the tags, but on here they do, so I'm going to add what I said in this post here as well, because I think it's important for those of you just going through the OSHA tags to know as well:

Hey, just gonna make it clear, do not interact with any of my posts saying “These people need to be studied” or “I’m going to document and analyse these people” or any other stuff that implies you want to psychoanalyse/“study” the OSHAverse. That kind of thing feels dehumanizing and uncomfortable, and generally? Just kind of rude as well.

Doing so will get an immediate block on all of my accounts.

I don’t appreciate people acting as though a group of people having fun and making up stories and roleplaying with each other is somehow “abnormal” or “weird”. If you want to do things like that, then that’s your problem. We’re literally just having fun together, creating things and making friends. If you don’t like it, or feel as though this is “cringy”/“weird”/etc, make your own thing.

I don’t particually care if you meant it as a complement/joke either. I know I’ve had to deal with people dehumanizing me or otherwise treating me as though I’m “wrong” irl, and I’m sure there are others here who have as well. This kind of “joke” isn’t funny, especially coming from complete strangers.

And yes, I can read your tags. Do not put it there either.

This seems like exactly the right kind of post for this account even though I keep forgetting to use it -

Anyway, mod Janitor here! At last check, including blogs run by the same person, there were over 300 OSHA accounts, but many have since become inactive, unfortunately. I would say the amount of active acounts is somewhere closer to the 150 mark? But that's just me estimating.

The OSHAverse itself is loosely defined as "A large group of powerful or unusual beings are drawn to one building under the guise of 'Health And Safety', but this is usually a facade for their own goals". Though I do believe some are dedicated to actual health and safety, many use the building to house their own organizations or laboratories. I think it's generally accepted that there are regular huamn OSHA workers there as well, but they're more background NPCs and the focus is on the 'unusual' characters.

Generally, you have a spread between "Departments" - characters or groups of characters who are all associated with each other and work together for a goal or share a space -, Non-department Workers - characters who work at OSHA but have no department, such as Mike the cafeteria worker, Kishar the janitor and the like - and Non-workers - such as Jackie, adoptive daughter of Kishar and Mer the Mad Scientist Union Rep.

There are some unusual cases that don't quite fit into these catagories, such as Mer (The Mad Scientist Union Rep, not technically an OSHA worker), the Clinic (The OSHA medical center but technically unafilliated), and outside groups such as the SHF (A hostile group from the future currently attacking OSHA).

A core trait of OSHAs characters is many would seem "OP" in other settings, but because OSHA draws in the powerful and strange, it has set a higher power cap, so the "OP" is more normal here than elsewhere. Eldritch beings, Gods, the Fair Folk, Living Dreams, and even incredibly smart mad scientists, being exceptional is a common trait in OSHA!

I can go more into the minuta of the verse but that's the general overview I think

no idea why you'd come to me, i arguably know the least about the oshaverse among the roleplayers, but the oshaverse is a world where osha is controlled by something rather powerful, and one of their buildings was built on an ancient lab(it was built by one of Hollow's characters; alam) and it has since attracted so many weird phenomena it has to be some sort of magnet. there's at least two castles in the forest, half the characters are gods or godlike and the rest are basically immortal through some means or another. the current plot that i'm aware of is alam redeeming himself after bullying kishar(i think they're an eldritch deity of space) with science way back before concrete was a thing. also gary(kishar's bio parent i think? idk how eldritch gods are born) is trying to marry alam because it figured that was what it had to do to reconcile kishar regarding both alam and gary as parents. also kishar encouraged it. previously, there was something regarding the evil oshas but i think they all went largely inactive after it.

and i don't know the number of oshas, but there's a lot. there's the standard osha, osha(living beast) which hasn't been mentioned recently so it might be osha(decaying beast) now, evil osha, horror osha, blizzard osha, i think there's a few magic oshas but they've all fell inactive or deactivated.

Obviously anything Big And Plot Related should be discussed first, but I'm talking about just casual things like "hey wanna have a picnic" or "i found a weird hole in the wall wanna come check it out" and stuff ))
