As we slowly regroup after #irmageddon I'm in awe of the calm after the storm that our Heavenly Father gives us. I think of the story of Jesus found in Matthew 8:23-26. Jesus was so in control and even in the midst of the storm raging on, Jesus slept. I've always grasped onto the idea that Jesus was so unconcerned over the storm because he had the ultimate trust that it was well and nothing would happen. This song has been on repeat in my head before, during, and after the storm. https://youtu.be/K-I-1bphWdI (at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida)

Last night power was restored to La Casa de Erwin and I've never felt more excited! I'm grateful to Jason, Andrew, and Lee the three linemen I spoke to last night who are from Texas. They are here in Florida working so hard to fix our power and we're responsible for bringing power back to my house!!! Jason, Andrew, and Lee were so gracious in answering my questions and I practically had to beg them to accept my bottles of water and chocolate chip cookies I was using to say thank you. We Erwins are firm believers in chocolate chip cookies making friends and the three Texas linemen are friends to me and my heat-addled brain! (at Harbor Bluffs, Florida)

#irmageddon has reminded me to be grateful for the little things. I've spoken with neighbors as they shared ice and advice (and some generator power to make coffee), been able to spend some quality time with my sister and brother-in-law and Daddio, had the chance to sit and talk with family friends as we've gone to check in on them, and even found gas to refill my car with. While having no-power is a bummer, I'm looking at the sweat really as a great detox to all the hurricane snacks I've consumed 🙃. We Floridians have a lot to be thankful for, the Lord has provided even in the midst of the storm by weakening what could have been a lot worse. #floridastrong (at Speedway)

Best thing about #irmageddon getting to use my Jesus candles. Because, He lights the way. (at Harbor Bluffs, Florida)

#irmageddon update: we've lost power and a lot of branches around the yard, but even so it is well. Through this whole past week I've had this inner peace and calm which I can only attribute to the Lord. We Floridians are a resilient lot and this hurricane has shown me the best in people, I've had friends and family members texting and checking in on me and my loved ones and making sure we're fine. God our Creator has instilled in animals a fight or flight response and this morning when walking around to take in the damage, the bird feeder that my mom loves so much is still up and has a few early morning arrivals. Happiest of birthday to my bestie, Sarah Joy. You've seen me at my worst and still loved me in spite of myself. No matter the miles that currently separate us, you are one of my biggest encourages and you speak a truth into my life that comes from a life well-lived. Here's to your next 31 years of life!

I've had the pro ales get of knowing this girl since our first few days as tiny little freshman at UNF. She's been a blessing to me ever since. For her birthday tonight we got to worship Jesus together and in true Kelly fashion, she turned it into an opportunity to bless her guests. I love you, Kelly #1!!! (at Shore Acres Neighborhood)

Eight years ago today I stepped on an airplane and began the greatest adventure of my life. I was completely out of my comfort zone, but I found the clarity I was seeking: to fully discover and embrace what the Lord had called me to do and to obediently follow. Incidentally the Lord blessed me with these 3 amazing missional heart sisters who understand me and my heart for the nations so well. No matter the distance these girls are only a phone call/plane ride away and I know I can call upon them to be some of my biggest prayer warriors.

It's a sad day because sweet Mia is making her way back to school in Hattiesburg. I'm gonna miss our coffee runs between services at church, fun girl nights around DTSP, and your secret sassy-side. 🙃 Praying for you that your next year of school is MUCH better than the last!
