damn i love the idea of the gods being born as mortals. it opens up so many story ideas for future campaigns and one-shots.
maybe of some of these former gods will attract devoted followers even when no one knows who they are. because even in their mortal form the gods' children are inexplicably drawn to them.
there will probably be a lot of false claims of reincarnations. chances for a temple to led astray by opportunistic priests using a child's supposed divinity to gain power and influence.
maybe some of these god-children after experiencing mortal lives might change their alignments. and while the chained oblivion might stay locked up because we've seen enough of that guy, there's still the possibility that there might be other eldritch gods outside exandria. and with the divine gate (and the gods) now gone, there would be nothing stopping them from coming to exandria. and idk maybe i've been listening to too many call of cthulhu APs but i'd love for cr to do a long form cosmic horror campaign.
we've not really seen the full extent of the consequences of c3. it's too much to cover in a single finale episode and it shouldn't be. i imagine matt needs to sit down and really consider the shape of this new exandria.
i've been here for a LONG time, started watching somehwere around the begining of c1, and every campaign i keep thinking i'll lose interest in this (no offence to matt) fairly generic fantasy setting. but this ending has really reinvigorated my interest in future cr campaigns. my initial thoughts had been whether matt would even allow this to happen, that he'd be too precious about his work (they did just release a sourcebook that went into the lore of the pantheon). but i think it must be revitalizing for a writer to have your world blown up in a way that leaves so many story threads.

I think part of why I find all the posts talking about how Campaign 3 supposedly had no consequences deeply tedious is because 1) they don't engage with the way consequence was embedded into the character arcs and motivations, and 2) they often treat outcomes that were the result of the players working really hard to prevent a worst case scenario as evidence that everything was handed to them.
The reason most of the Hells survived the campaign is because their battle strategy prioritized protecting one another above everything else. Laudna died and they put everything they had into getting her back. They CHOSE to not accept it. It took them five episodes, a huge boss battle, and a roll-for-it res ritual to get her back, and each of those things barely worked. They were so traumatized by the experience that they were trying to give her just about every potion and protection item even til the end, when she hadn't even gone down for something like what, 60 episodes? Because they chose to save her, they lost their patron to Otohan, and they became less tied to one city. Because Otohan terrified them so much, they never faced them on their own terms, and only finally escaped her with FCG's sacrifice. It is not a removal of consequence that Laudna was able to come back; it is a consequence of how much they were willing to pursue it, and it had consequences that echoed forward and forward and forward. It impacted the way they moved throughout the story a great, great deal, and it is just one example.
We don't know all the consequences of the god situation because they are, quite frankly, too big for an end of campaign. But of course there are HUGE consequences—the order of the world and the cosmos has been changed! We saw some glimmers of what that means on a personal and political level, to be explored later.
"Consequence" unequivocally does NOT mean "punishment." You may be disappointed that a character/group of characters is not punished for what you perceive to be their crimes, but that does not mean that the narrative is without consequence. And if that is the specific kind of consequence you think is necessary for a good story, if you think that it is superior storytelling to punish characters, that is your prerogative, but I personally do not agree and think that viewing the story through that lens deeply misunderstands the ethos of Critical Role.

well this was simply not the case for c2! i remember a large portion of the fandom expressing dissatisfaction with the way c2 ended. that it was rushed, that it left too many loose ends. the trent ikithon loose end had to be tied up (too neatly imo) in a one-shot. people really seem to have forgotten how divisive c2 was when it was airing.
All the attempts to be like “well how can you expect C3 to cohere or each character to get a narratively satisfying ending, it’s a D&D game!” just sound silly to me because they’re trying to claim this in a fandom where a D&D game absolutely did achieve those things in 2 previously aired campaigns.

As a rule of thumb, don't reblog donation posts or people asking for donations unless they've been vetted and reblogged by Palestinian bloggers. We usually go to lengths to verify this shit because we know scammers have been faking to get people to send them money, using the urgency of our genocide as bait.
It's disgusting this is what we're dealing with, but people are losing money because of some truly evil people out there.
Accounts don't just randomly spring up on tumblr without gofundmes while asking for someone to help them create a campaign. Fuck out of here with that shit.

I want to point out that racial prejudice is taking priority from Sudan! Anti-blackness plays a significant role, which is why you may not know anything about it. Especially when it comes to international news outlet. There is not enough coverage on the current situation and articles would point out that it is a political conflict between two generals and/or it is a civil war. (Or they will say the UAE is the villain, but there are many countries involved, such as Russia and Libya. Here is a brief video about it by Sara (@/BSonBlast)
But it is not a political conflict. It is not a civil war. It is a genocide over the past year. The RSF (Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary backed by the UAE) and the SAF (Sudanese Armed Forces, the national military backed by Sudan's high council) are committing the most heinous crimes. Villages are under attack. A blockade is imposed. Famine is on the rise. Families are displaced. People, especially women and girls, are subjected to sexual slavery and violence.
So please show your support! One way you can do is donate to Eman Abdelrahman, @emiiii980, (#213). She is a 25 year old Sudanese who needs to rebuild her home in Khartoum after the RSF has bombed it and the window for evacuation has diminished since the Sudanese pound has been inflated!
So let's help her raise 37K in the next 3 days! 36,367 CHF has been raised. There is 633 CHF ($711 USD) left to go! You can match me! I have given 5 CHF, but you're more than welcome to give more! And make sure to pay attention to the currency exchange! $10 USD = 8 CHF!
