Coming at you with more re-designs of my own work. I didn't actually change all that much, but I wanted to make them look more cohesive with the rest of the Prime Nexus, while also standing out.

Well, look what I've found in my old stuff -- the very first alien sophont I ever designed, all the way back in 2007! Going by the illustrios name of whabik, it was inspired by Hydromancerx's wonderful Nauceans, and cobbled together from bits and various pieces of Earth animals. On the left, the original drawing, ever so slightly anthropomorphic; on the right, a recent (as in, today's) more Arthropodesque redesign, in company of an aquatic larva and a closeup of its one eye.

organic hands - desc below

a little thing i whipped up summer of '23. orgono hands are unlike any other organic life form. only one thumb, as opposed to two. the dexterity in their last two fingers remains incredible, though, and there is a residual limb (digit?) from the long-lost thumb. although in more modern times it's becoming smaller and smaller.

they don't have webbing on their thumbs. watsonian reasoning is that it made sense for tool use and interacting with dry land more, however the doyalist reason is that i realized they cant hold hands. orgono are beings of love, they have to hold hands.

they've got cylinder claws, akin to a canine (i forget the proper term for them) and thick calloused hands that have a similar purpose to paw pads. they're not as soft, though, and can be peeled off like a horse chestnut if you really wanted to do that. don't do it, though. their hands are sensitive :(

Henryk the Sturgeon Knight Character I made a while ago that started story about fish knight I'm working on (temporarily called "Ashore Project" till I figure out a better name). Will probably do some smalled tweaks to his armor at some point, but I love him very much.

i've always been a fan of all tomorrows. sad and hopeful and chock full of strange little beasties. i always prefer to add a more human look to them. i dont know why? probably an attempt to make them uncanny. who knows!

anyway, my favorite are the mantalopes. i like drawing then and i like thinking about them. augh. anyway.

I love Queen Scarlet sm and I especially love the jewellery she was given on the book 1 limited edition cover so I gave it a draw (+ claw extenders because she would)

starting off with something small! random dragons from my moleskin. i've always been a dragon person, they come pretty naturally to me.

most of these aren't from any specific media. the last one is a pernese, from mccaffrey's books. i need to reread them, and maybe try to draw them a little more alien. like michael whelan's covers.

welcome - intro post

im nat. this is where i'll post about my art and ocs. i've been on tumblr for years now, but the new side blog is a result of the great meta ai dumpster fire.

i focus mainly on black and white art, however i will also post colored things. i have a wide variety of interests, but i'm bad at color theory, so i just embrace the black and white :p

my art, ocs, and stories will usually revolve around sci-fi and low horror. there will be some classic fantasy and dnd-esk stuff thrown in there, too. i'm a huge fan of the uncanny valley, specifically with embracing and loving and enjoying it. uncanny but kind :]

i'm currently studying english and biological anthropology in university right now. i enjoy learning about analytical thinking and how our minds evolved! i am also trying to dabble more in philosophy, although i am a little intimidated to get into the more modern things.

i love dnd and dnd things! i also enjoy hiking, caving, camping, bone hunting, antiquing, and talking to my buddies. i collect typewriters, labradorite, and old books.

i play bg3 and skyrim a ton ;]

i utilize small, repetitive shapes often and enjoy messy, cluttered layouts/compositions that are meant to confuse or disorient someone. Many of my illustrations will include bones and organs in a medical or educational context, and themes of depersonalization, disassociation, and unreality may pop up. These will all be tagged to my best ability. A list of the tags I use are below. by default, i have no real DNI or BYF. however, i will block those whose content makes me uncomfortable (and not in the neat "reflect on society" way). i enjoy dark themes and don't always endorse the things i portray. i also think people should think critically about what they consume, why they consume it, and who is being impacted and how by the creation and consumption of media. i tend to ignore or block those who i don't feel abide by the previously stated standards.

discourse won't be tolerated here! i don't take blocking personally.
