Yuuta loves you in his own way.
Yuuta would probably hesitate every time he wanted to ask you out. Just a single glance into your eyes was enough to make his legs go weak.
Tonight, you decided to reward yourself with a deep sleep after a long day of work. Your skin had been carefully taken care of, which made your mood feel lighter as well. As usual, Yuuta was probably still busy with his missions to exorcise curses. The poor network connection in the field wouldn’t even allow him to send you a simple "good night" message like he always did.
So be it. You pulled out a novel to pass the time, but no matter how beautiful the words were, they couldn’t fill the void like the silly stories Yuuta often made up just to make you laugh. Turns out, when you're in love, the presence of that person becomes so essential that even a single day apart leaves you feeling empty.
Suddenly, your phone vibrated softly on the table. A notification popped up, accompanied by an incoming call from "Adorable Yuuta." Almost instantly, you pushed the novel aside, your fingers quickly tapping the answer button.
"Good evening, Y/n." His gentle voice drifted through the speaker like a soft breeze, carrying with it a quiet chuckle that instantly put your heart at ease.
"Yuuta, it’s already late," you whispered. Leaning against the bed frame, your gaze wandered toward the window, searching the distant Tokyo sky, though you had no idea where exactly he was at the moment.
"Sorry… did I wake you?" Yuuta scratched the back of his head, his voice tinged with a bit of awkwardness. At the same time, he cast a polite smile at a man in a suit standing beside him.
"Not at all. Thank you for calling me." You chuckled softly, your eyes unconsciously following the bright moon in the sky. "The moon is beautiful tonight. Do you see it too?"
"Y-yeah… it’s really beautiful," Yuuta stammered, his face turning pink. Thankfully, the darkness helped conceal his flustered expression. A brief silence settled between you before he suddenly spoke again. "Next Saturday… the sky will probably be just as beautiful. I think so."
There was a familiar hesitation in his words, but within them lay a heartfelt sincerity. You couldn't help but smile, finding his clumsy way of speaking incredibly endearing.
"I'm free that day. Let's go out together?" Your voice was soft, as if painting him a path to carry out whatever "suspicious" plan he had in mind.
"D-deal! Thank you." His voice grew quieter, as if he wanted to disappear from embarrassment. But even so, he didn’t forget to wish you good night before hanging up.
As you ended the call, a satisfied smile formed on your lips. Meanwhile, on the other end, Yuuta hurriedly stuffed his phone into his pocket and remained seated, his face burning from sheer nervousness.
The suited driver from earlier let out a quiet sigh, his gaze full of sympathy as he observed the flustered young man through the rearview mirror.
"Seriously… haven’t you learned anything from Gojo about this?" he muttered, half amused, half exasperated.
But then again, it didn’t really matter. Everyone has their clumsy moments in love, and sometimes, it’s that very awkwardness that makes love feel all the more genuine and precious. Yuuta would grow and mature, but for now, he was still just an adorably awkward boy in your eyes. And in the end, that was all that truly mattered
