Steve Hackett - Genesis Revisited Band & Orchestra Live
Release Date: 25 Oct 2019
Tumblr media
Steve Hackett is renowned as an immensely talented and innovative rock musician. He was lead guitarist with Genesis as part of their classic line up with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford, who produced several of the band’s most acclaimed albums including “Selling England by the Pound” and “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway”.
With Steve’s extraordinary versatility in both his electric guitar playing and his composing, he involves influences from many genres, including Jazz, World Music and Blues. He is equally adept in his classical albums that include renditions of pieces by composers from Bach to Satie, his own acoustic guitar compositions that have gained the admiration of many, including Yehudi Menuhin, and ambitious guitar/orchestra albums such as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic.
His most recent studio album is 2019’s “At the Edge of Light”, which was met with critical acclaim and charted in several countries all around the world. It reached number 28 in the UK Album Chart (number 3 in the Rock chart), number 13 in Germany and 12 in Sweden.
While keeping a continuous studio output for several decades, Steve Hackett has been presenting classic Genesis tracks with his live band. Now “Genesis Revisited Band & Orchestra: Live” marks one of his most impressive live releases to date. It was recorded in October last year at London’s Royal Festival Hall with the renowned 42-piece Heart of England Philharmonic Orchestra!
Available as a 2CD & Blu-Ray digipak with behind the scenes footage, this is a brilliant fusion of progressive rock and orchestral grandeur. It includes powerful versions of “Dancing with the Moonlit King”, “Shadow of the Hierophant”, “The Steppes”, 2Afterglow", “Serpentine Song”, “The Musical Box”, and the epic “Supper’s Ready”.

Cesena: "Le due Americhe" al Teatro Bonci
Tumblr media
#notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article

SUBLIME CINEMA #630 - TÁR
A study in controlled intensity, and a masterclass in writing, acting and directing. How refreshing to see such an intelligent film in this year of dumbed down releases - it had me hypnotized and it reminded me what great films can feel like in the theater.
Cate Blanchett somehow finds herself here in what might be her best ever role; she is commanding beyond the norm, and there are scenes and monologues here that will probably win her an Oscar. And Hildur Gudnadottir is one of the most interesting composers out there right now, the music and mood scrapes at the chalkboard and keeps creeping.

"The faintly lit passage ends in a crimson curtain behind which the sound of instrumental music flows faintly. Peaking around the curtain it appears to be a group of orc bards."

making my own post instead of derailing blah blah blah BUT
LOOK UP YOUR LOCAL THEATER
if you're interested in things like opera, orchestra, theatre, google "theatres in (your city)" and go from there. you absolutely don't have to go to the fanciest place where celebrities perform Shakespeare in real 1500s outfits, I promise you there's affordable options to watch art live. go to museums, go to art performances, go to the fucking ballet! experience things! couple weeks ago I literally got two tickets to a modernist orchestra concert by less than what I would spend on a single McDonald's menu, and less than half a single movie ticket
I promise you that you will find the fine arts way more relatable and understandable than you were led to believe they are, and that you don't need to be wearing fancy outfits, and the staffers and cast members are always more welcoming than you think, there's no secret hidden social rules, you are just supposed to get there early and turn off your phone and be respectful and quiet during the performances, just like going to the movies
and these places need our patronage to stay affordable, to be able to spread culture further, to be able to teach their craft and pass it forward to new generations of artists and staffers and technicians. you don't have to watch a play a week or go to the orchestra monthly, but consider pirating the latest blockbuster movie that you would maybe want to see and going to the theatre instead
I promise you it's worth it

Note: Once a musician, always a musician. If you haven't touched your viola since seventh grade, I don't care, you're still an orchestra kid. And if you joined a choir for the first time after retirement? Guess what, you're a singer!
Audience members, we love you too. <3

No, I don’t care if it’s “just the overture” or “only the orchestra.” I don’t care if there’s no one technically onstage yet. Put your phones away and stop talking. The show has started.
