“What can I do to help British trans people right now?” Great question! There are already a few petitions going around to help in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision, so here’s one more that I’ve started to overturn that fucking “indefinite” ban on puberty blockers.
Trans youth deserve access to gender affirming care, now more than ever, and while this certainly won’t solve everything (nor is it the final goal in gender affirming care in the first place considering trans kids should be allowed to go through the correct puberty at the same time as their peers) it’s still a baby step. It’s still something that you can do in two seconds to improve life in the UK for trans people.
Right now, only 20 signatures are allowed while the petition is being checked. I’ll update if/when 20 signatures have been reached, and if the parliament website allows the petition to go public, go fucking mental.
100,000 signatures are needed to get the petition into parliament. Even if it doesn’t overturn the ban, it will at least send a message that these fucking TERFs that currently run the government cannot get away with stripping trans people of our rights, because we will fight back.
Keep talking, keep spreading the word, and keep protecting your trans siblings.

What the “haha millennials can’t even make phone calls” crowd fails to appreciate is that making phone calls is a far more user-hostile and physically uncomfortable experience than it was 15-20 years ago.

LGBT people, I need you to know that any “pedophile execution bill” passed in the US is meant to put you, personally, to death. When the right says “groomer,” they’re talking about you. When they say “predator,” they’re talking about you. When they say “pedophile,” they’re talking about you. Any actual child sex abusers who are convicted and executed would be, to them, a happy accident, a cherry on top of a law that’s meant to exterminate anyone who deviates from the cisgender, heterosexual norm.

most of the time. accessibility is about a) diversity of options, and b) autonomy to choose between those options. disabled people should be trusted to know what will work for us. not all disabled people have the same needs. not all disabled people will have the paperwork so many institutions require before you’re allowed to have your needs met. all of these problems could be solved if everything wasn’t so arbitrarily inflexible

Being accepting of autistic people includes being accepting of "weird" or "annoying" people who you don't know are autistic, BTW. We don't just spawn into existence with a list of diagnoses tattooed on our foreheads. If you claim to be accommodating of autistic people, but then get pissed off when someone shows a symptom of autism because your default assumption is that they're just an allistic person who's annoying you for no reason, then you aren't actually all that accommodating of autistic people.

god i never told you guys but a couple weeks ago at work i heard a guy say, and i closely paraphrase, "So I was out with my partner--republicans hate it when i say that. My heterosexual partner Jessica--" and i was straight up crying before he finished his sentence. fully diegetic convergent linguistic evolution live in the workplace
