One thing that always makes me giggle in the old cartoons is them always having to announce their transformations. In armada every time shouts “TRANSFORM!!” And of course in BW it’s their name before their faction catchphrase, “Dinobot, terrorize!!” “Cheetor! Maximize!”

And it’s just so unsubtle and goofy it gets me in a laughing fit every time. It’s not even out of place bc these are light hearted shows. But that doesn’t change how delightfully silly it is

Okay second epi was better. Had some more familiarity, the Quintus/Quintesson thing was intriguing. Kinda similar to something a friend and I played with at one point in time.

Quintesson did look silly as hell when powered up but some aspects were cool like the face. Switching to BW for now but we’ll see how ES contihues when I pick it up again next I’m able to

Finally continuing ES with season 2 after holding off so long and I’ve spent most of the initial episode just

Animation quality seems lowered in some aspects(mainly with Starscream and others’ faces I can’t put my finger on. It)? Some of the characterization changed is… infuriating. Some of it seems hopeful, but the bulk is just irksome

Starscream’s biggest issue with Megs is suddenly just that he’s a traitor, BD is dumbed down mainly capable of saying “smash”, the bots have no issues fighting on a public highway around people, the Chaos Terran is… just thrashing around punching and kicking and head butting stuff prompting the most outlandish dialogue from BD. “Not all the cons are bad guys, right mom?” To “Decepticons are all evil! It’s even in the name!” Is something I’d heard about but good lord

From the get go the scenes cut abruptly into a new one. Which is so insanely jarring. And it’s really hard to track any of it. It just immediately feels rushed. If it keeps up this way I may just have to drop it and glean vital plot info from others’ summaries. I mainly just wanted to see Prowl, Megs and co 😭

Nightshade at least seems normal, as does Elita. And some of the others

Really hope this improves as it goes on but based on what I’ve heard I’m wary

Okay, Starscream going from punching Thrust to treating the minicons so SWEETLY in the scene directly after has me FLOUNDERING, y’all.

Even in the previous episode, he disagrees with Optimus and says that the minicons are just pawns, but the way he behaves towards them suggest the opposite.

Slowly working on stuff to make some Armada ocs (even came up with a mini-con and am definitely tossing one of my con ocs for IDW into this one bc it’ll be real fun to see how that turns out)

This is Cruze and Rhys. Cruze is a bot scientist, Rhys is a young adult who got wound up in everything and has always had a penchant for working with tech. Builds sorts of robots for fun, programming them using his computer. (Cue both nerds collaborating)

The con I plan to toss into Armada is Gale but Comet may be really fitting for the style too so we’ll see (here are Cruze and Comet in a picrew I came across)

I gave the LL team a human. He’s not with them for the entirety of the MTMTE run, he gets there before the incineration shell though if I remember his timeline correctly. He and Roddy are insanely close (boyfriends eventually) but let’s just say there’s a rift formed after certain events.

I also have to just add, because I feel a lot of folks are missing this: Orion’s friendship could not have possibly saved D16 from his own downfall. The trauma, anger and betrayal felt ran way too deep. It festered, growing and blossoming into its own monster over the course of the movie. At the end he’s left with this uncontrollable mass of hurt/trauma/pain that just mangled into fury. He wants vengeance, justice, but even with Sentinel’s death that’s not enough. He cannot get back what he has lost. So he will keep harming, keep killing, lash out at anyone who fits the bill of those who inflicted this upon him. Even those who suffered with him. They are complicit in his mind by holding him back. By not burning the broken world with him. By trying to mend what remains and has been tainted by the corrupt who led to all of this. He needs energon spilt. He needs to cause pain and to feel it. Anything to fill the gaps, anything to bandage and salve the pain he feels.

There is something amusing and bittersweet about seeing so many folks go “oh if Orion helped D kill Sentinel it would’ve been fine!” Because that’s just… not true. Like say Orion did cast away his morality for a moment. Say he decided that yes, our new society can begin with an execution, that’s fine for setting the scene for our new life. Sentinel deserves this immediate death rather than being judged by everyone he harmed. Yes, I can watch my friend fall farther into darkness by allowing his aggression and bloodlust born from trauma to take control. By allowing that death, by partaking in it, it still would proceed to the next scene of Megatron absolutely going berserk in his understandable anger, destroying the city around them, people getting caught up in it as collateral.

And Orion, kind spark he is, constantly aware of the impact of others especially with his previous lines of mistakes that hurt people, just could not allow that to stand. But since he allowed the death, that spark has already been ignited. There’s no stopping the flames.

We’d get the same situation in gist but worse. We’d still get them on opposite sides, fighting. But Orion would be on far more unsteady standing this time because he allowed this to come to be.
