Yesterday it dawned on me that you are not a baby anymore, which was odd for me because I often think of you as the girl who used to make me play games of numbers with her or the girl me and Hickey would sneak things into the shopping cart while dad wasn’t paying attention to us in the supermarket. But again, today we are in the present, and you are not a baby anymore; you are a intelligent, independent, fearless woman who has been a bigger influence on me than you think. You experience three emotions/feelings when you’re about to finish a race: 1: Happiness, since you’re finally at the end (and you’re probably gonna make good time too) 2: Distress, since your body is tired, your mouth is dry, and all you want to do at this point is sit down 3: Relief, since you finished!
