The importance of stained t-shirts and torn jeans

There are trees to climb, bark dust mountains to scale, scooters to be conquered and mud pies to be crafted.

I have a friend who dressed her children to look like they just stepped off an LL Bean catalog page. When my daughter wanted to have a backyard balloon war, I phoned the moms in my cul-de-sac to invite their children over, too. My friend's kids were not able to play because she had just cleared out the kid's drawers of all their "old raggies" to make room for the "new pretties".

My philosophy: Allow kids to have their adventures. They will learn more about teamwork, good sportsmanship, fun and imagination.

Always have a stained t-shirt and torn jeans tucked away for your kids to be kids, not just mannequins.

Funeral Home is looking for you....?

I am the GM for a guild called Funeral Home. We are recruiting. Located on Anvilmar Alliance- any class accepted but we prefer older and inexperienced raiders. We are a level 25 guild with a steady roster of about 20 players- mostly level 90. Our particular needs are heals and melee dps.

Many of our players have been belittled, humiliated or booted from groups for being inexperienced. This can be intimidating... I mean, who wants to look for groups when the number one question is: What's your iLev? And of course, the question that usually follows is: Can you link me your highest dungeon/raid achievement?

Here is where Funeral Home comes in... My preferred recruit has the following attributes:

1. Sense of humor. This is a must! At times it feels like we are banging our heads on the wall so humor is necessary. It is the glue that holds us together.

2. Respect. None of us are perfect, we all make mistakes, and we are all coming together for the pure love of the game and determination to succeed. How can you not respect that?

3. Independence. Must be able to farm for your needed materials without too much fuss but of course, repairs are free after the probation period and there is a well-stocked guild bank that offers everything from patterns/recipes, ingredients, potions and some donated gear/jewelry/weapons to help you on your climb.

4. Reliable. Our raids or as I sometimes like to call them, fumbles- occur every Saturday afternoon @ 5pm server time (pacific). If you accept this mission, you will be expected to appear, be ready (with bandages/potions/flasks) at least 15 minutes prior to raid time. 

5. Refer to rule #1. Prior to killing the Lich King, we died. Over and over again until we got into a rhythm. Humor got us through it. I mean, how can you NOT laugh at 10 over-30s playing a video game in hopes of saving all of Azeroth?

Such simple rules but you'd be surprised at how few fit our mold. Think you have what Funeral Home needs? Think we have what you need?

Create a toon. Whisper me (Meteora, Blemished, Mourning, Oblyvia, Buboo, Sanguinaria- I never know who I will be at any given time :)

Hoard, hoard, hoard!

I can't stress this enough... hoard, hoard, hoard!

Why?

The Auction House (AH) is so unpredictable, it's predictable.

.You vender all the Crawler Meat in your backpack and suddenly there is a demand for it.

.You vendor all your linen because today, the AH is overflowing with it. But tomorrow, it's empty.

.You vender a Jungle Hat and suddenly, they're in vogue and selling for 500g.

If you're just starting out, I suggest you make a 2nd toon to be your designated "Bank". Purchase bags for this toon. While questing on your main toon, you will acquire lots of stuff you won't know what to do with. Large fangs, Northsea Pearl, Monstrous Claw. Send all these items to your bank toon.

Eventually, you will have a stack of this or a stack of that. Allow yourself a Banking day once a week- organize and sell off your treasures and watch the gold pour in!
