Crown Chakra... How balanced are your chakras?
Crown Chakra :: Sahasrara
Is your Crown Chakra in balance?
Located at the top of our head, this energy point is our connection to higher consciousness, connecting us deeper with ourselves and opening us up to a force of life greater than ourselves. The Sahasrara is sanskrit for “the lotus flower of 1000 petals”.
Overactive Sahasrara:
If our crown chakra is overactive we may find it difficult to ground ourselves, living in our own world, feeling inferior to those around us and lacking in empathy.
Under active Sahasrara:
An under active crown chakra may leave us feeling meaningless with a difficulty of finding a purpose in life. We may find ourselves quick to blame anything and anyone external, feeling unloved and out of touch with spirituality and our inner selves.
Balanced Sahasrara:
When the crown chakra is balanced we are in control of our emotions, truly connected with our inner selves, feeling grounded and at one with all around and beyond us. Our intuition and wisdom will guide us, selflessly devoting ourselves to the well being of all living things as we will feel and see, we are all one.
Feeling Unbalanced?
Here are some things to try which will help balance your heart chakra:
Colour - Violet or White, synchronising with all colours.
Element - Time/ space/ thought/ beyond elements
Meditation - Sit in a peaceful spot or a favourite place, making sure you're comfortable. Using all your powers of imagination, visualise a thousand petaled lotus flower at the crown of your head beginning to open up, revealing a beam of white light travelling from you to the universe.
Feel free to listen to this mediation music to help open up your Crown Chakra:

Supported Headstand (Salamba Sirsasana)

Music - Music brings people together, it can also help us bring ourselves back to balance. Essential Oils -

How in balance are your chakras?
Third Eye Chakra :: Ajna
Is your Third Eye Chakra in balance?
Located in between our eyebrows where our eyes would meet, this energy point is the centre of our imagination and intuition. In Sanskrit, Ajna means "command". Our Ajna allows us to access our inner guidance that comes from the depths of within. Said to be related to the 'supreme element" which is a combination of all elements in their purest form.
Overactive Ajna:
If our third eye chakra is overactive we may find ourselves out of touch with reality, over indulging in fantasy worlds and finding it difficult to distinguish what is real. When our third eye is overactive, our constant thoughts can be mentally exhausting, lacking in focus our judgement can be clouded which affects our ability to make decisions, easily becoming overwhelmed.
Under active Ajna:
An under active third eye chakra can affect our imagination and ability to remember, process and concentrate on information, making it difficult to recall our dreams. We may feel fearful of the unknown and insensitive to others around us which can lead to narrow minded thinking.
Balanced Ajna:
When the third eye chakra is balanced we realise that we are the true creator of our own reality. Our intuition comes naturally, our memory is sharp and our mind is open, flowing in full sync with our lower chakras. With our Ajna chakra in balance we can think and see clearly allowing us to make true decisions and manifest our innermost desires.

Throat Chakra :: Vishuddha
Is your Throat Chakra in balance?
Located in the centre of our neck aline with our throat, this energy point is the centre of our self expression, communication and creativity. Some believe this energy point is the home of human emotion. In Sanskrit, Vishudda means "pure or purification".
Overactive Vishudda:
If our throat chakra is overactive we may find ourselves being critical towards those around us, often speaking negatively and domineeringly, speaking over others without hearing their voice. An overactive throat chakra can destroy the harmony between our own emotions, making it difficult to listen or understand others which can result in over compensating with arrogance and condescension.
Under active Vishudda:
An under active throat chakra may leave us feeling afraid of openly expressing our views and opinions. We may feel shy and timid, struggling to articulate our words and finding it difficult to stand up for ourselves. By not being true to ourselves, we may give out mixed emotions which can cause problems and confusion.
Balanced Vishudda:
When the throat chakra is balanced we flow with our true nature. We have the courage to openly express ourselves, encouraging us to project our creativity into the world. We flourish, letting our energy pass freely to our lower body and head. Offering help and advice to others comes easily to us, we know our direction and have no problem expressing our weaknesses. We speak the truth, we are free.

How balanced is your heart chakra?
Located in the centre of our chest in line with our heart, this energy point is the centre of our deep bonds with all that surrounds us, responsible for our feeling of love, respect and compassion. In Sanskrit, Anāhata means "unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten".
Overactive Anāhata:
If our heart chakra is overactive we may feel ruled by our emotions, unable to control them and let go of past pain. We may experience a lack of boundaries in relationships, accepting others without discernment and tolerating too much from to the point of neglecting our self worth. 'Are you saying yes to everyone and everything, even if it does not benefit you at all?' This can all lead to losing our sense of identity and self respect.
Under active Anāhata:
An under active heart chakra may leave us feeling unworthy and unloved, disconnected with those around us. We may feel a lack of empathy, thinking of ourselves so much we would class ourselves as selfish. Forgiveness and trust does not come easy. Naturally, we'd rather keep ourselves at a distance from anyone else.
Balanced Anāhata:
When the heart chakra is balanced we flow with love and compassion. Feeling deeply connected and grateful with all that is around us. We are accepting of others and ourselves, quick to forgive and radiating with joy. We recognise we are part of something larger, interconnected with an intricate web of relationships through life and the universe. We feel whole, we are grateful.

How in balance are you?
Located below our rib cage and just above our naval, this energy point is the core of our personality, radiating vital life energy throughout our body. The centre of our will power and self esteem, our "gut feeling" and intuition.
Overactive Manipura:
If our solar plexus is overactive we may feel easy to anger and quick to judge ourselves and others. Feeling intolerant, a need for control and excessive competitiveness. We may also find we are over indulging or over eating.
Under active Manipura:
If our solar plexus is under active this can cause heavy emotional struggles, the feelings of insecurity, anxiety and fear. We may find ourselves with the inability to focus and keep organised. Lacking in confidence and self worth, worrying how we are perceived and thought of by others.
Balanced Manipura:
A balanced solar plexus chakra will radiate energies of joy throughout our body and onto others that come across us. We have control over our thoughts and emotions. A great sense of self love and appreciation for all around us. Clarity and confidence, knowing the freedom of choice, steering life in the direction we choose.
Feeling Unbalanced?
Here's some ways to help balance your Manipura:
Meditation - close your eyes and place your hands over your solar plexus, start to imagine a ball of yellow light, breathe, with every breath imagine a beam of light directly entering your energy point, making the yellow ball of light glow even brighter. Start to imagine the light radiating around your body, warming every cell, every muscle, from the tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. Taking deep breaths, feel the energy glowing and growing.

Ardha Matsyendrasana, Half lord of the fishes pose

Who Are The Dalit People?
Sadly still in this day and age, across India and Hindu regions of Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka there is an entire population of ‘Dalits’ considered lower than animals and believed to have been born as ‘untouchables’ as a punishment for wrong doing in a previous life.
For over 3000 years the ‘Dalits’ or ‘Untouchables’ have been positioned at the bottom of Indias' society, subject to the most aggressive and dehumanising abuse. They are born into a culture that devalues them from birth with society considering them to be contaminated from the beginning of existence. This draws lines between communities, limiting one's profession, potential marriage partner and level of education. The term ‘Dalit’ literally translates from Sanskrit to downtrodden or oppressed and still, there are around 200 million Dalits who are exposed to this injustice today.
“Never was a man treated as a mind, a glorious thing made up of stardust.”
THE DALIT RIGHTS MOVEMENT
Apartheid came to an end through a movement of people of many nations with one voice and one message – that apartheid is wrong. It will take a similar approach with the help of ordinary people and voices across nations. There is still much to be done, but we have to be encouraged by the positive movements. With the power of the people and human rights movements, awareness is rising and legislations are being made to help support the rights of the Dalit people, morally, politically, financially and spiritually. There is still a long way to go but with your support we have a bigger chance of granting freedom for the Dalit people strive for the day they will be untouchable no more.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP?
Education, this is the fundamental key for the children of the future. There are different organisations tackling a variety of areas including the National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights which is made up of four independent movements, each movement working on eradicating some form of caste-based discrimination. Another organisation is the Life Association, for 20 years they have been building schools, children’s accommodation and creating work opportunities amongst the Dalit communities.
One opportunity that arisen is the Dalit candles: These candle pots are handcrafted in the Dharavi slum of Mumbai. Your purchase supports the work of Life Association with the Dalit people of India and helps to provide a loving home and education for the orphans and vulnerable children in India.

Meeting Lumago
Back in August 2016 we ventured to Dumaguete City in the Central Philippines where our spirits were heightened by the inspirational ladies of Lumago and their ongoing creative journey committed to triple bottom line sustainability: People, Planet, Promise which is a vision very similar to our own and close to our hearts.
In 2011 a typhoon arrived in their city, devastating parts of the community and their livelihoods on the city’s dumpsite. Hope was found through the need of sourcing another income, encouraged by Whitney Fleming an American social worker, a group of women from the community started learning to make beads rolled from paper.
That’s when the creative journey of Lumago began, inspiring each other through their visionary ideas, these women started designing and producing one of a kind pieces of jewellery made from paper beads.
6 years later, I arrived in Dumaguete with little knowledge of the devastation that had occurred. Meeting these inspirational ladies and their mentors Becky and Spencer, I listened to their story of strength and passion, positivity through creativity and their uplifting adventure since Lumago first began. Hearing the continuous improvement of livelihoods and their shining positivity and determination amongst the community is just incredible. This wonderful co-created project is continuously blossoming not just enriching lives financially but also environmentally, creatively and soulfully.

MAKE LOVE NOT WAR
“Bomb Bangles.”
Did you know... Laos is the most bombed country in the world? Between 1964 and 1973, over two million tonnes of explosives were dropped, equalling a planeload of bombs every 8 minutes, 24 hours a day for 9 years. These bangles, a symbol of peace, are now created by the Laotian villagers from the bombs and planes that caused the destruction, rising up through the negativity to create such positivity.
