Thinkin about oober old ocs hrmmmmm

Bretta:

- She’s a beetle and so full of autism. That’s it lol.

- She hasn’t been around since the old days of Hallownest, but her family moved to Dirtmouth some point following it’s fall, maybe escaping a similar ruin in a different kingdom.

- Her family ends up contracting infection and leaves down the well, one by one, leaving Bretta behind. Not really equipped to deal with thoughts of being left alone, Bretta starts relying on fantasies of heroes to come save her. She ends up infected as well and goes underground, which is where we see her in the game.

Myla:

- Youngest of a shit ton of siblings, all involved with a family business of mining. She’s also trans bc I say so hehe.

- Stammer is a motor dysfunction, not really a nervous habit like people around her may assume.

- The rest of her family went into deeper Crystal Peaks while Myla stays in the more local mine. Doesn’t matter to her that it’s less developed and smaller. Always gotta give the small guys a chance, yknow?

Tiso:

- I like the interpretation of him as an ant specifically bc it coincides well with him having a need to be exceptional and stand out. In a colony, he was one face among thousands, living the same boring life, day in and day out. Once he goes solo into the world, he gets action, and he gets to prove how capable he can be as a warrior. Or so he thinks.

- The hood is specifically to make him stand out as well. It hides the fact he’s an ant, making him more distinct, plus has the bonus of helping maybe a lil gender dysphoria as ants can have slightly differing antennae between drones and worker ants.

- And yeah, in my eyes he was a worker ant, making him trans af.

- He made his own shield with self-taught tinkering, specifically designing it to stand out. Who else fights with only a shield after all?

- When he’s at the Colosseum of fools, he looks down on everyone else for embracing the same helmets that have that distinct four-hole eyehole design. It makes them all blend together, defeating the whole point of fighting for glory, in his eyes.

- Pre-colosseum, bro has infinite confidence with 0 rizz lmao. He hasn’t really developed social skills, leading to him often appearing as aggressive and antisocial.

Cloth+Nola:

- Big fan of the idea that Cloth and Nola are both cicada who grew up in similar circumstances, training to be warriors, but Nola ended up the prodigy that Cloth looked up to while she was struggling to keep pace.

- Nola ends up dying in a fight Cloth was also involved with where Cloth feels she failed to protect her, worsening existing fears of being an inadequate warrior. This leads her to travelling to Hallownest solo to try and prove herself worthy of seeing Nola in the afterlife.

- Cloth is a trans butch lesbian in my book.

The Jellyfish:

- The oumas and oomas were beta experiments from Monomon specifically trying to find a way to safely “store” infection as a means to combat it, like a more ethical and faster Hollow Knight. Unfortunately, we can see in some infected enemies that they can get a tad explosive lol.
