Final summary
I have now had my individual tutorial and i have written my essay. I found writing this essay more enjoyable than the last. I think this is because I am more familiar with the film and I have been able to take on board what was said about my last essay.
While writing the essay I managed to watch the film a couple of times to make sure I had all of the information that I wanted to include and that I had not gotten any of it mixed up. I will send copy of my essay to Lindsey now to make sure that I have not done anything terribly wrong and then it will be ready to submit.

Week 5 summary
This week we have our final presentation for the unit. I Am happy with writting my essay about Wall-E and how it links in with visual storytelling. I already know a fair bit about the film and the work that wen into it so I am sure I will not fall short of information. I plan to get a rough draft written up after my individual talk with Lindsey. So far I have just jotted down a few of the important facts of the film and a few key points.

Week 4 summary
This week we have been given the essay questions and I have to say even though I was feeling more drawn to write an essay about a stop motion film I am feeling more comfortable going back to Pixar. I know a lot more about this company and their film so feel I would be able to write a better essay if I choose one of their films. I have a perfect film to write about covering the question about visual story telling.

Week 3 summary
this week we have been looking at fairy tales and the arc to their stories. This has pushed my thoughts toward writing a essay about a stop motion film like Frankenweenie. I really like this film and the whole fairy tale feel that it has. This film feels more like a film created in the fifties and has managed to capture a campfire horror story and turn it into a film for children.聽

Week 2 summary
Looking further into the films that I want to write my essay on I have looked into both CG animations and stop motion as these are the two types of animation that interest me. I am a big fan of work by Liaka studios as there work usually resembles and old fashioned story which is not found so much in CG films.

Watching Wall-E
now going back and watching the film I have mad notes a several key points in the film. I had never realised the impact the small features of the film had in the long run. Wall-E has always been one of my favorite films as I found the story truly compelling compared to other animated films at that time. I never noticed how significant it was that all of the dead lights would work around EVE. I had always assumed this was because she was modern technology. I now see it as an implication to her bringing light to Wall-E鈥檚 very dull and dark life. It is small features like that which make this film an excellent example for visual storytelling.

Essay questions
choosing a film is decided on what question i am going to focus my essay on. I don鈥檛 want to choose a film and then have a tough time trying to link it to one of the questions. The question that I think is the best is about visual storytelling. I think that visual story telling is a very big part of film and animation in particular as you don鈥檛 have a live action body to gesture their emotions. Based on this choice of question I think Wall-E is a great representation of this.聽

I am am now beginning the long process of narrowing down the films that I could write about for my essay. I am tempted to write about another Pixar film like Wall-E or Toy Story, but I am also tempted to look at another studio like Laika.

first week
This essay is very similar to the last. I am looking at an animated film and analysing the use of animation and finding how it is used to enhance the feelings and emotion in the film. I will have the same problem with this project as I did the last as I will have to pick one out of a thousand films to focus on and write about. I look forward to writing this essay as it is a better focus on the use of animation in film that the previous essay.
