This is my final proposal.
I pleasure that this time I learn a lot from this project. It’s the first time designing a vector map, study the paragraph style, create a table, solving image resolution, gathering the information from the client and think about the layout design as well.
I think this work can develop in a different direction, such as the big map from the 3-14panel, like a tourist map, I think this design can make this work more diverse and entertaining.
For the typography selected, I think classic and modern types should be used together because this conference quite like typography historical events, it includes the early artist, also invites some modern designers as well. So sans serif and serif typeface is my first choice. Otherwise, the typeface should readable and simply, the audience can read it smoothly.

I did some research on the map design as well. Because this conference is academic and professional, so I do not want to design some cute vector illustrations on the map. The map should be clear to display the major building while displaying restaurants, hotels, parking, etc. It can provide some vital places for the audience, anticipate their physical needs. The color palette has to keep the same to the proposal as well, so I focus on the street line and building illustration. For building one, I choose their outfit line to draw a 2.5D version. It can outstand the figures. For the layout, I am inspired by the central image, but I switch the square to a circle. I think my proposal is too regular, all of the content is put on the frame, I want to break down this rule a little bit. Also, This proposal will become a map after unfolded, which means the map illustration is the first visual element. I test it many times to make sure the map works well.

I change my color palette as well. because I dislike dirty orange with other colors. I think it’s not suit for this proposal, it’s too depression, less dynamic. For those artist artworks, I have a sense of typography vitality, but I do not find it on my proposal. I consider the color palette should be contrasting, sober and steady. Thus, I redid the research and I found this video that attracts my attention. The water blue color is warm and peaceful, but the red one looks like a naughty fish swimming on the sea. The white color is the spindrift, which breaks down the silence to the deep blue water. I think this color palette is quite cool to work on my works.

For the poster layout, I put Typograpfika’22 up a little bit to keep the balance of two sides. The right side was dropping down a bit. Also, I adjust the b character layer in the first version. It can increase two sides' connection, doesn’t look like put two posters together. To express the type of basic function, I use AI to switch a part of the body’s color to convey the theme. For the event details, place, and date, I put them closer than before. It will make sure the bottom of the composition is on the “b”, keep the stable triangle to a perfect grid system.

This is my poster’s draft.
The first one is base on the “TYPO” idea, I attempted to divide the composition by 2 parts, (I think 3 parts are not work), with a title on the top, but that’s not work as well
So I move the typo to the bottom, and try to use the concept of the oblique text direction with some line, and the big alphabet on the background. Actually, it’s quit lot elements, I worried about the first vision on this concept. Perhaps a good idea? I am not sure..
Then I remove the long lines and big alphabet concept, try to make some new but I fail and I start to change the text direction.
Finally, perhaps the direction changes, I was inspired by the half and half layout and play with it.
[This process more like “concept recombine”, that’s the first time I design by this way, it’s quite interesting, because it looks like a self-seeking process with various components and ideas. ]

[1st]
I love the idea of the line linking to the title, then become a part of it. The idea  was zoning the area as well.
[2nd]
It’s related to the idea of the type basic, very good concpet. It conveys the theme directly.
[3rd]
Layout - half and half

[I observe it on different ways and I create some grids to anaylise]
I was attracted by these series of the poster beacuse the “TYPO”type face is interesting. I love the composition when I watch the series poster. The poster composition is divided by three parts base on the “TYPO” font (On the second image). Also I observe the individual poster, the layout is perfect. It isn’t the same size between the left part and right part, and the first vision is on the middle, the gap. These are some interesting ideas.

This is my first concept about the poster. It’s very important. But I didn’t have an idea to develop at that moment. After Geogre said we beed to do some research about typography conference’s poster, the first one I was attracted related to this concept. The figures are surrounded by some fonts and oblique. It’s impressive for me so I add this concept on my note and I use it on my poster’s draft.

I spend some time to think about the order of designers. Firstly, I was considering the map position. Imagine it, if someone takes this proposal, he read the events, get the date and place of the event, then he requires to go to find the position of the map, it's very annoying. For solving this problem, I move the map from the 13th panel to the central (8th panel). After moving, the next problem is, if I follow the initial introduction order, the guides perhaps will too untidy. After these thoughts, I decide to change the introduction order. One of the reason is, the table of events is following the time order on the back cover page, the audience can check it any time; When the audience read the 8th, it almost opens the whole proposal, that means all the contexts and details will show on. They require an accurate place at that moment; The last reason is quite personal. I desire to create some differences in this proposal. I don't want to just show up the events detail and information, because each designer has the ability to arrange it tidy, orderly, and clear. Some students said this brief it's quite easy and boring, I think it's negative, one of the hard parts for this proposal is improved. I need to create something news from the normal stuff. That's why I decide to move the map. It will switch the proposal to the guide book/guide map.

I think this book layout is well-arranged. I love the text box is divided by different places and is readable as well. Also, it can relate to the title text. The Layout is a stable triangle composition, basically it puts the elements together, such as the text is on the bottom or the top, then the picture is on other side. On the text box side, the girds are more closer than the image side. This is a good example layout that I can apply on my 7 and 10 panels, because this two panels is separated by the map. However, I desire that they can have some coherence layout. I think I will use only one side page layout, then inverse the layout, which can keep the symmetrical balanced.

This example's layout is quite good and well-arranged. I like the idea of the big image with the bottom of tiny text on the left side and the small one with 2 columns paragraph on the right page side. Then light grey title on the top of the page that reminds the audience which theme it is. The transparence yellow box is crossing the big and small image, while some black lines following the same direction on the left side. That's very nice, it can attract the audience's attention at first, and some small text at the bottom that can guide the reader to know about the theme.

This is the experiment of the context page. The layout and table style ideas come from the research(the 1st pic on the left side). I tried to use this layout but it doesn't work well because there are too many information and message on this page, so I think about redo something. I think about the requirement of the back cover: collate all the events in chronological order. That means I can put some information on the back cover, then the context page can only focus on the name and time, just for the guideline to the audience, while checking the details on the back cover. As the new research shows up(on the right side pic.), keep the minimalist style.

Based on my research, black and white are part of my color palette because of the traditional typography colors, but this project is about a conference. For the conference advertising, I need some bright or contrast colors to attract people's attention, while keeping the academic style. Thus I put my eye on some natural color palette. This color palette includes dynamic colors, such as pastel pink and dirty oranges and heavy colors as well. This conference is talking about a sober academic subject, but this is not monotonous, it's an interesting space and acknowledge. That's the reason I require a color palette that holds heavy and dynamic at the same time.

This project includes various design styles, from traditional to contemporary style. In this case, I don't think I work one of style is a good point because it seems like this project tends to or highlight this style or designer, so I decide my poster's style is at the middle point, use simple color group and one or two typefaces.
This group of examples is telling me how many design ways and styles I can use, which looks like a guideline, a direction.
But I still think I need a specific direction to design the poster, at this moment, I don’t have a clear idea about it.

This is a good example of the color palette. The black and white color is traditional. It reminds me to think about the series font style. But the purple one is dynamic and outstanding. The layout is quite interesting, it creates 2 layers of the visual effects, but it doesn't burden the audience to read.
