Whilst conducting my research I discovered a similar organisation who offer students the opportunity to make a difference and organise events to raise awareness of the unethical standards in the fashion industry.
I have applied to become a student ambassador of the organisation and this will come of benefit to me in the final term of university.

Practice using the risograph effect on photoshop. I used the paint stroke I made to create a nice effect where there’s more narrative and the image shows a women’s eyes being covered, just like a lot of women’s are (symbolically), when brands aren’t transparent enough and don’t tell the truth about where they stand in the market and who they buy off.

Moodboard I created for the layout and stylisation of the editorial magazine. I want the final design to have a risograph-feel. I want it to look artistic, hand-made, recycled, authentic, transparent in the information its giving.

Out of my brief ideas, these were my favourite 3. After brainstorming ideas for each, and researching the 3 pathways, I have chosen to create an editorial/magazine for sustainability, since editorial is my chosen career pathway, and I’m passionate about it, and it also links to the week 2 design sprint “Painted Skin” which I enjoyed.
I have a lot of ideas surfacing already for the editorial, and would like to use the RisoGraph printer, and maybe gain new skills in printmaking to help with my final design. I love traditional media forms, and I think the physicality of it, and the rustic aesthetic, reflects what I’m trying to promote in my work. Re-cycled materials, true art, something to keep, not to be thrown.

Self-initiated project.
I brainstormed ideas for my project today. I came up with 6 different pathways for my brief, including brand identity design, brand refresh, advertising, editorial, and experience design.
They all link to my dissertation in some way or another, as my focus is set on promoting a more sustainable future for the fashion industry, creating awareness on the detrimental effects fast-fashion imposes on our environment, and encouraging consumers to shop responsibly.

Ellicott mini brief.
When conducting my research for this brief I highlighted the words watch and British heritage and brainstormed words which sprung to mind when thinking of the two. I came up with phrases too such as “timelessly timeful” - to bring attention to the timeless piece of jewellery which has been around for centuries. For this digital launch campaign I decided it’d be a good idea to have a countdown in Roman numerals, which would count down to the release date of the new collection.
I also came up with a separate idea, which is slightly more interactive, as it allows user to select their birth time, which reveals their “birth watch” (like a birth stone). It’s a novelty approach which will allow people to interact and feel more connected to the products.
To conduct these ideas, I aim to practice using adobe premiere for motion graphics.

Could possibly explore the idea of “Infertility survival day” and illustrate a picture of Fallopian tube-muscle arms on a uterus to empower women and make them feel celebrated.
These cards could also cause offense, and may not sell very well as the target audience may not want to address the situation, or the senders may not want to send something so personal.

Researching current societal trends which would be suitable for a card range at moonpig.
Moonpig don’t have many gamer themed cards, and as fortnite is a very popular game at the moment due to the introduction to android devices, it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. I figured it’d be a good idea to have fortnite themed cards as they would be popular with young teens/adults in relationships.

Painted Skin Ghost Story
An academician from Taiyuan, referred to only by his surname Wang, chances upon a homeless girl who claims to be an ill-treated concubine. Noting her beauty, as well as feeling pity for her, Wang agrees to let her stay at his residence temporarily. They make love at his study, unbeknownst to anybody else. A few days afterwards, Wang's spouse, Chen, discovers their affair and is unhappy with the arrangement, but fails at changing his mind. At the marketplace, a Taoist priest informs Wang that he has been possessed by an evil spirit. Wang dismisses this with incredulity. He returns home but finds the gates locked. Nevertheless, he manages to find a way into the courtyard and notices that the front door is bolted too. Peeking through the window, Wang makes a startling discovery − the girl is actually a "green-faced monster, a ghoul with great jagged teeth like a saw." All this while, she had been wearing a mask made of human skin, on which her attractive features were painted.
In petrification, he returns to the Taoist priest and begs him for help. The priest agrees but concurrently wishes to be lenient on a likewise sentient being, thus only offers Wang a charm meant to ward off demons. Wang goes back home and hangs the charm outside his bedroom, but it has no effect on the demon. Instead, she turns enraged and rips out Wang's heart. Wang's spouse reports this to the priest who, incited to fury, launches a full-scale offensive on the demon. They find that it has transformed into an elderly helper working at Wang's brother's place. In the climax, the demon reverts to its original form, and the priest beheads it with his wooden sword. The demon's remains dissipate into smoke which the priest stores in his calabash. He also rolls up the demon's "painted skin" and stores it away.
Later on, the priest tells Chen to visit a lunatic beggar at the marketplace, should she wish to revive her husband. The madman treats her with disrespect by continuously demeaning her, but she takes it in her stride and patiently pleads with him for help. Finally, he coughs out some phlegm and makes her swallow it. The beggar makes his leave and Chen is left feeling deeply ashamed. Back home, during funeral preparations, the phlegm gradually hardens and rises from Chen's stomach to her throat. Ultimately she disgorges a throbbing heart, which she places into the gaping wound in Wang's chest; slowly, his life is restored.

I created these scamps to figure out the different possible ways I could have the layout which would be appropriate to the story.
I want to pursue the option with the decorative hearts masking one of the images. I think this will look effective and will tell more of a narrative and catch an audiences attention.
