I think one big reason why we don't consider the stars as important as before (not even pop-astrology anymore cares about the stars or the sky on itself, just the signs deprived of context) is because of light pollution.
For most of human history the sky looked between 1-3, 4 at most. And then all of a sudden with electrification it was gone (I'm lucky if I get 6 in my small city). The first time I saw the Milky Way fully as a kid was a spiritual experience, I was almost scared on how BRIGHT it was, it felt like someone was looking back at me. You don't get that at all with modern light pollution.
When most people talk about stargazing nowadays they think about watching about a couple of bright dots. The stars are really, really not like that. The unpolluted night sky is a festival of fireworks. There is nothing like it.

Let’s do this
First blog post! I’d argue that it’s not even the first, just a test post, so more like Blog post 0?
I once read that a famous author (i can’t remember exactly who) would write like 500 words everyday, no matter how shitty and unmotivated they were feeling, because you’d be surprised what you can come up with. So here’s my 500 words to you. Completely improv, hope you enjoy. ;) xx
Cicadas singing
Cold juice disappearing fast
The sun brings hell fire
Now that you have an idea of space around me, let’s open up my brain.
Wouldn’t it be cool to write a book, like creating characters and writing about their lives in such a way that thousands of people around the world fall so in love with your characters that they draw fan art and write fanfic and create ships?
Last night, I finished reading my third book in 3 days, all were young adult and all had a bit of romance. First was ‘The Field Guide to The North American Teenager’ by Ben Philippe about a Canadian teen with Haiti parents moving to Texas. It is equal parts unrealistic American highschool drama and kinda sweet character development, flavoured with quick witty comebacks that I would have soaked up and tried to emulate as a teen, but now i realise if anyone actually come up with such stuff on the spot they would have to be clinically-labelled as a genius. Yep, safe to say I’ve grown up and tragically dreams are not as colourful anymore (if you’re under 16, don’t read the last sentence, you poor thang).
Next was John Green’s latest book, ‘Turtles All The Way Down’ and here i’d like to congratulate good old tear-bringer John for another title that pulls you in and is so hard to forget. This was probably the hardest book for me to read PERIOD EVER PERIOD and I had to skip chucks to keep a lid on any anxiety that might surface from the MC’s anxiety. Luckily I’ve never obsessed over germs, but if you have in the past, then consider this a trigger warning. Still a great read to widen your views.
Last night, I finished ‘Love from A to Z’ by S.K. Ali, another great book to broaden your views, because honestly how many books written by a Muslim about Muslims are there in the Western bookstore? Probably my fave read out of the three, as it was heartbreaking and heartwarming to experience Adam and Zayneb’s lives for a few hours, even if it was fictional.
Alright, not exactly 500 words, but i’m signing off now. x
