I love when a client is ready to change up their style. They have had one thing for years and want a new silhouette, a new routine, something to look forward to in the morning. This client had been wearing this bob for over 5 years and came in and gave me that smirk and said I'm done and I want it off. Instantly I got excited and said I agree let's go for it. My one restriction... "Don't make me look like a boy." And I said challenge excepted. This was our end result.

Pinterest Practice Sunday. Pinterest isn't going anywhere... The only place it seems to be going is out of clients printers and into the salons. Which is awesome. But it can be scary for us stylists. So I've decided to grab this fear by the horns. I found this on Pinterest and was inspired to grab a mannequin head and giving it a go. I love when clients are going to a themed event that I can use as inspiration for their hair. This client was going to a fund raiser with a "Country Chic" theme. She brought in a photo reference and I used that as well as the theme to come up with this relaxed disheveled ponytail with a braided accent.

When a client with very long hair comes in, the request is always the same right? I love my length but i want something different. i LOVE this request! More layers is the easy solution; but its what they've had before, so its really not that big of a difference for them. I like to slightly disconnect the layers at the top of the head and crown, and frame the face a bit utilizing point cutting, to add movement around the face and add volume through the top of the head all the while maintaining length. I love my long haired clients.

Cognac was the inspiration for this color. I love expensive sounding colors, and they inspire me to formulate new and uncharted formulas. I love that there are clients that trust me to try these formulas out on them :D the end result was exactly what i wanted, a copper beige, not too cool and not to zingy. Next i want to try this out as highlights in a brunette!
