We have started studying the history of Fashion we are starting in the Victorian era and was given the task of finding a Victorian image and producing a illustration out of it. The illustration was never going to be made or worn so we could make it as creative as we wanted, we didn’t need to think about the struggle of making it. I did 3 illustration all together two women designs and one gentleman the women’s were inspired by umbrellas, bloomers, pearls and gloves, the gentleman’s garment was inspired by the top hat that was seen often in that time with them been quite popular in men’s fashion.

Marketing task Harriet Marsh The designer in which I chose was Christian Lacroix a well know fashion designer. Christian is mainly known for his haute couture, as he has been designing it for 20 years he is one of the many that have worked them self up from the bottom he started of as an assistant at Hermes in Paris and was eventually designing for Emilio Pucci in the year 2002 to 2005. since 2011 he has been collaborating with many big European farshion brands such as Desigual.
Tumblr media
Christian has been designing for 25 years, in 1980 he was designing for Jean Paul and in 1981 he opened his own capture and ready to wear house, he was originally going to take on the role of a museum curator are a job by studying art in university and now is creating art that people can wear. He is now designing and selling interior decorations for places such as hotels and big houses, his interior products still carry his unique and quirky style.
Tumblr media
Christian Lacroix produces have changed as his career had developed he went from just designing haute couture, to then opening his own house designing both couture and ready to wear and now he has moved on to designing interior decoration. Christians style is known all over the world and to all the big designer houses so his prices of his products are very high and his products are mainly aimed at the wealthy population of the wold, he is a designer that is baced in France. When researching the prices of his clothing I couldn’t find big stores such as Harrods selling them o there online store all I could find was an on line store called yoox and 1stdibs they sell his wide collection of handbags and items of clothing and accessories Christian has a unique style that is recognised in the fashion industry. He doesn't design clothing that can be worn any wear there has to be an occasion this limits his target marked which means he could make less of them making them then a limited addition item of clothing. on his catwalks you can see history in his designs, some of them look incredible in a way that you would not expect it to work together. his target market is those people who have events in which they could wear his designs, the wealthy. My favourite collection of Christian Lacroix is his Couture Spring 09 black white it is a mix of French history made into moden day clothing using iconic French designs in the collection such as the blues, spots and stripes. My favourite garment he has ever produced is a dress from Paris January fashion week a dress which Christian Lacroix designed but the dress was walking down the catwalk of Christian Dior's fashion show, it is a master peace something that you would think would never work with fabric and he made it possible.

Dorky Dungarees.
Started in the 17th century as work wear made from a thick cotton cloth that was normally coloured blue and sometimes white. They have been re-created in many different styles and are still worn today. They are a funky item of clothing worn by both men and women and are normally in a denim fabric.

T-shirt Task.
On our Monday marketing session, we had a task in which we were given a customer, an over sized black t-shirt and a fitted white t-shit and we had to apply accessories to these t-shirts to make them appropriate for different situations in which are customers could wear them. I was partnered up with charlotte are we were given a ‘high flying business woman’. We looked deeply into what this woman would wear on a day to day working day. We made mood boards showing her life and interests. The style which we chose were relaxed looks as a t-shirt isn’t what business women would wear for a formal business day so we styled them for occasions such as traveling and long run around days which she would wear something fashionable yet comfortable.

York.
On the 18th September, we all went to York. The first task was to go around the history museum that is in York and look and how things have changed especially Fashion.
We had a task to select 3 retail stores and analyse them. The three stores which we picked were Urban Outfitters, Whistles and Millies bridal wear.
We chose Urban Outfitters which is on the outer rims of the town centre of York (26-27 High Ousegate, York YO1 8RX) the reason behind us choosing this was because it is high street fashion all thought the clothing they sell is very desirable it is on the pricier side. The shop floor design matched the clothing, it was more of a retro look such as the buildings scaffold on show and street art on the walls with pipes being used as clothing rails. The customer it aims to sell at are the younger generation who have money to spend on clothing, between the ages of 14-25 is the main age of customers that shop there. The staff are all trendsetters in by wearing the clothing form Urban Outfitters. Urban Outfitters also offers a large amount off for students, they also have an easy to work website that costumers can easily purchase items they want from there home.
We chose Whistles which is a store located more to the centre of York (35A Stonegate, York Y01 8AW) we picked this store because it is a high-end clothing brand. If you were to purchase their clothing you bought their clothing is was because of the manner in which it was made (stitching) and the fabric it was made out of. It was well made clothing. The shop floor design was slick it was all perfectly set out no mistakes like its clothing. the staff were also showing off the clothing bran by wearing the branded items, they had a 10% discount but it was subtly pointed out to the public with little advertisement.
Molly Brown is a bridal shop that in within the town centre of York (27 Stonegate, York, North Yorkshire YO1 8AW) . We chose to analyse a bridal shop as there are many different brands, high end bands whose dresses are shown all over the world in all the fashion cities such as New York and Paris etc. but the shop isn't advertising the names it is just knowledge by the bride what brands are within what shop. The customer target is women who are willing to spend a lot of money on one dress that is there ‘dream dress they also had prom dresses and mother of the bride dresses. My personal thoughts on the lay out of the shop was that is was packed, there were dresses everywhere. There was a large variety of different dresses but it was a small building with 3 floors in all the room with have the dressing rooms in I felt like if a woman had a big â princess dress on they would have limited space to move around and see if it is the perfect dress. staff were smartly dressed in suits and formal dresses advertisement for 70% of was marked boldly in the shop window.
