I don't know I'd this will reach the people it needs to, but if you're a US citizen who is planning to skip voting in the presidential election because you won't support what you consider the lesser of two evils? Vote. There is too much on the line, here and in other countries.

And if it concerns you, as it should, that Trump has called himself "the best friend that Israel.. ever had. " on his social media platforms? Or if it concerns you, as it should, that North Korea has sent troops to help Russia - which Trump proudly and openly supports - in the war against Ukraine? Vote Harris.

If you believe people should be able to make choices about their bodies - not just when it comes to abortion but also the birth control some people need simply to manage their reproductive health? Again, vote Harris.

If you support efforts towards racial and gender equality, remember that in an election you have to pick and choose what you discuss, and sadly not always based on how much yhe issues matter. Look at the candidates' records of actual actions.

If you have or want to protest the government's bad calls - because sadly, there is always the possibility of more and we should protest then - vote against Trump. We're all aware of project 2025 at this point. It is not a guess that he wants the power to silence any opposition.

And right now, the only way to vote against Trump meaningfully is to vote Harris. It's part of a flawed political system, I agree. So vote Harris. Vote for the candidate who has shown a willingness to listen to ideas about change.

Do your research, learn from multiple sources, and please vote.

I think the first step towards the life you want is often to just say yes to more things. Accept that coffee invitation from your coworker even if it seems awkward. Sign up for that free class at the library that you're not sure you'll like. Join that club. Book that tour. Say yes to as many things as you can and kill the part of your brain that gut-reacts with a no.

I wish there was a website where you could input a character's description (height, weight, sex, medical conditions, etc.) And a situation (car crash, falls, stabbing, etc.) And it would calculate for you from most to least likely the injuries that character would receive, potential complications, and how long it would take recover. This would make writing injuries SO MICH EASIER if I wasn't guessing at everything

How people can mistakenly think or just subconsciously feel food works: there are “unhealthy” foods like pizza or fried chicken and “healthy” foods like fruit salad or steamed vegetables. Every time you eat an “unhealthy” food you’ve harmed yourself in some way.

How food actually works: foods contain carbs, proteins, fats, sugars, vitamins, minerals, fiber and/or other nutrients. Your body needs and uses all of them but it would like to have a little of everything every day. If you ate pizza or fried chicken for lunch then that’s probably your fat and protein for the day with extra that your body will make use of in time, so it’s a good idea to make your next meal something different like that fruit salad or steamed veggies. You can have that fatty lunch every single day if you just maintain balance and stay active enough to actually use what you’re stocking up on because foods aren’t “good or bad;” they just either fit into the rest of your diet and lifestyle or they don’t.

it drives me bonkers the way people don’t know how to read classic books in context anymore. i just read a review of the picture of dorian gray that said “it pains me that the homosexual subtext is just that, a subtext, rather than a fully explored part of the narrative.” and now i fully want to put my head through a table. first of all, we are so lucky in the 21st century to have an entire category of books that are able to loudly and lovingly declare their queerness that we’ve become blind to the idea that queerness can exist in a different language than our contemporary mode of communication. second it IS a fully explored part of the narrative! dorian gray IS a textually queer story, even removed from the context of its writing. it’s the story of toxic queer relationships and attraction and dangerous scandals and the intertwining of late 19th century “uranianism” and misogyny. second of all, i’m sorry that oscar wilde didn’t include 15k words of graphic gay sex with ao3-style tags in his 1890 novel that was literally used to convict him of indecent behaviour. get well soon, i guess…

Instead of doing NanoWriMo I will be doing something where I try to aim for writing an actual average of 400 words a day for the month of November in memory of Terry Pratchett, who as far as I know never thought telling a computer to write a book for you is a good way to hone your skills as a writer.
