no i don't work out to be buff actually i work out to be strong enough that my friends feel safe when i hold them. i work out to be able to be solid enough that when i hug them i can hug them tight enough that for just a second it feels like no one can hurt them. i work out so when their voice is shaking and they're afraid i can stand behind them and be solid enough to make my presence count. i work out so i can pick up large dogs and climb tall trees and carry bags for the people i love and help the mom in the supermarket lift heavy things and above all, above all, to create a presence that invites people in rather than scaring them away.
sometimes it feels pointless and sometimes my goals seem far away but anything can be an act of love if you do it right and i want my strength to be used for protection and affection more than anything else it could be used for

modern day dps where the poets (especially Charlie) often call Neil Perry “Perry the Platypus”, or something related to a platypus just to tease him.
like if Neil is stressing over homework and the guys are like “c’mon Agent P, why don’t you rest for a bit?” and Neil immedietly slams the door in their faces.

hey op i just wanna talk
Yo bro, who got you crying like that?
The fact that when Neil died at least all the dead poets could support eachother, both be and have a shoulder to cry on, but then Charlie got expelled.
Charlie is alone in his room, hugging and sobbing into his pillow, the faint yelling of his parents about what they are gonna do now, how will he become a banker? What school should they send him to next? Not comforting him and he had no siblings to rely on, no friends to turn to. Charlie was all alone.

i don't think there's anything more human than annotating a book. you have a physical copy of thousands upon thousands of words- words that are meaningless, unless put together in the perfect way- and within those meaningless words, you find the meaning. you find what you're meant to find, and you make note of it. you make note of it so, when you come back, you're filled with that emotion. that lovely feeling, that heartbreak, that pain and sadness and anger and laughter and suddenly it isn't just a physical copy of thousands upon thousands of words. it's more like home.
and don't get me started on how it feels to see other people's annotations. seeing the thoughts and feelings of other people, splayed right there on the page; it's a window, isn't it? it's a way to see what they're processing. what sticks out to them, what makes them feel, what makes them tick. is there anything more human than that, seeing a person's heart and soul with your own eyes, among a physical copy of thousands upon thousands of words? they take in these words and, in return, give the physical copy something of themselves. and i think that's absolutely breathtaking.

Yes sure I annotate my books, that doesn't mean it's anything smart?? See all those things in the margins?? All dumb shit. Things like "lol" "oof" "same bro" I annotate my books like I tweet and y'all have no right to expect anything from me
