it’s so disheartening to be watching a youtube video only to realize the art in it was done by AI. Youtubers are upset that their stuff is being used by AI algorithms for training and then they turn around and use stolen art when they could be commissioning artists to do it for them. And these youtubers have over 500k subscribers. they have sponsorships. if you can’t bother to learn the craft or commission someone who does, why the fuck does that entitle you to their intellectual property?
whatever. the ai slop will eventually crash and burn once people realize that their “safe and respectable jobs” are also a target. Unfortunately, artists are always the canaries in the coal mine. and this mine is about to burn the fuck down

I say this unsarcastically and in earnest: it sounds to me like the only way we can have a world, like *at all*, is, AT BEST, complete political disenfranchisement of the conservative population. No idea how it can be achieved, and I know it would be undemocratic as hell. But Christ alive, I don't see another better choice. People who oppose climate action and believe God has ordained that climate change must kill us all, or who don't want kids to be educated or saved from a viral pandemic... simply cannot be allowed to wield political power. At all. They have completely abandoned empirical reality and insist on dragging everyone down in their suicidal madness. It's existentially unacceptable, and we can't survive their continued political engagement. They should be fed, housed, afforded the same rights we demand for ourselves, but I don't see how they can be included in the political process without us revisiting this situation every generation. And this is the best solution I can come up, the most humane.
The less humane one is just... rock to head. Reason clearly fails to deal with these people, I don't think reeducation can work at the scale of the conservative population, so it really just becomes a matter of how much force must be employed to remove them from power.

im only half joking when I say we should bring banishment back. Like give them all a flotilla of cruise ships or let them pick some land to make their weird ass version of jonestown on. Unfortunately, as appealing as this is, it’s too complicated and 1/3 of the american population has been indoctrinated so our society would collectively collapse.
I wish there was a clean cut solution to this but we’ve let it fester for so long and in every tissue fiber of our society that it’s akin to necrosis. At this point I think we just have to stop it from getting worse and stop it from spreading to Gen Alpha as much as we can. It all starts in childhood.
I know a lot of people want a revolution but we’re not organized or unified enough for that. The left has too many factions and absolutely will not be able to agree on one course of action to take. So we wont be able to face this head on unless things collapse or there’s a violent collective attack on us first (which is unlikely. fascism is a slow drip and that’s why it’s so effective).
I think what will end up happening is that we’ll have to weather the storm in the long term and hopefully the damage won’t be so bad that it leads to our extinction. The planet is going to be here for a long time and other creatures in the wild have an easier time adjusting to adverse conditions than humans do.
Who knows. Mayne dogs will evolve to be the apex beings of earth or something. Who can say. I’m at a point where all I can do is support my community and my close people and hope for the best. Im trying to accept that I don’t have control and that it’s not my job or responsibility to come up with a blanket solution if the people in charge refuse to. I won’t feel guilty anymore for being unable to enact that change because it has been systematically and deliberately taken from me. All I can do is hope that the suffering happening right now eventually gets balanced out.

I doubt i’m adding anything to this but Imma add in my two cents.
I was raised in a conservative environment. My family wasn’t fanatical or removed from secular life but because of taught prejudice and family trauma, we were more center and even crossed over to the right (I used to parrot that I was “fiscally conservative” because I didn’t have the knowledge I do now and I wanted some way to connect with my more conservative friends and family.)
I can tell you now, even though I was centrist and teetering back then, these ideas WERE extreme. Not extreme in the grand scheme of things, but extreme to someone who had a vastly different perception of reality than I do now. I can say confidently that this isn’t a misunderstanding.
Conservatives and centrists /do/ take this at face value. They aren’t stupid. They know what “extremist leftists” want. They just fundamentally disagree that we should do that.
A lot of leftists make the mistake of thinking it’s flawed logic or reasoning or a lack of education. “It’s so simple. Why don’t they understand that all we want is zyz.”
They do. They just don’t believe that these things are rights. They believe that suffering is choice or sin based. They believe in a meritocracy and that everything that does or doesn’t happen is deserved and is destiny.
If we don’t have air to breathe in 20 years? We must have deserved it. If you can’t go to school or have debt? It’s your fault.
We are operating on fundamentally different core beliefs and that is why we, the people on the left who honestly aren’t asking for much, are extreme. Because our core values dictate that we help others and that the above suffering is needless and truly, not based on moral failing.
People don’t have an easy time changing their core beliefs. That’s why the ultra wealthy who are puppeteering the movement want to keep people isolated from each other and to stop diversity. because when you are continuously subjected to people around you who have different core beliefs, you’re more likely to change.
It’s why conservatives hate “secular life”. They’ve been trained and conditioned to so that their core beliefs of meritocracy stay stable and unchanging. It’s a manufactured cult by billionaires and it truly is difficult to get out if you have no support system. And many people in rural communities do not have that.
I’m slowly learning, as much as I fucking hate to admit it, that we have to use kindness and understanding and an olive branch. We have to literally use the modern deprogramming playbook. Plant a seed of doubt. Ask questions. Offer support and community. And people will break ranks. But they need to know that theres some sort of a safety net when they jump out of the nest.
We need to focus on building community with each other. With people we don’t like. And honestly, I know a lot of people don’t have the spoons for it. I know that it’s not fair that marginalized people have to do so much extra leg work all the damn time. I hate it and it makes me angry. But anger is easy. And anger is going to unfortunately push people further into conservatism because they feel attacked. They don’t have the empathy and capacity to understand why we’re angry and hurt because of them.
It’s the unfortunate reality of having such a widespread cult movement that society has accepted as “normal and acceptable.”
So yeah. It’s gonna suck. I’m gonna have to go deliver my extra garden produce to my conservative neighbors to plant a seed of doubt. “Oh. our transmasc neighbor isn’t a fucking monster? Huh…” Or that’s the hope. It’s not easy and I can’t expect other people to do that. But it’s the reality we’re currently working with.
also Im not checking spelling or grammar on this i’m in bed with a pressure headache and shit. lmao

its been p common knowledge for decades that light pollution can be massively reduced by just putting shades on streetlamps, and that doing that would save energy, help wildlife, and let us see the stars better, but are society says if u wanna change any minor little tiny thing u gotta dedicate ur whole life to campaigning for it and this is a good ways down the list of priorities for most ppl, so instead i gotta walk past newly-installed streetlamps that are just dumb glass globes that use half their electricity to blast half their light directly into the sky where it does only bad things for no reason and think "we should overthrow the government"

As a big dragon age fan, y’all need to do better. i know we waited a long ass time but we can wait a little longer and do the right thing. besides, the ceos pushing generative AI have admitted it’s bullshit and unsustainable and have no plans on how to extract the needed energy for it. (But i bet you “not is rye ael” and g@za’s oil will be the first thing they bleed through)
so the new dragon age dropped for preorders and what im seeing is that the physical merch bundles to not actually come with the game? unreal. unreal. starting off strong with this one. cant wait to witness all of the bountiful discourse cycles this game will provide. as someone who has never played dragon age its one of my favorite spectator sports

like clockwork anti shippers/whatever you call people who can’t healthily separate fiction and irl have now begun weaponizing the media literacy conversation. :)
you can’t tell someone who doesn’t understand media that they’re the one this conversation pertains to. Like the whole “an idiot has no idea that they’re an idiot” concept
i wouldn’t be bothered but their rhetoric is being used by politicians to implement more fascist law into our country.
but what do I know? since i have trauma and Im disabled im just a little guy ewe i need to be protected because i can’t consent or grow past my trauma and live a full life despite my issues fitting into a capitalist society. oh woe to me.
