something about percy winning against ares by drawing first blood, not giving a fuck that it’s the god of war he is making an enemy out of vs him being caught totally unaware by luke and luke drawing first blood because percy hesitated, because this is his friend, because making an enemy out of a god is way more preferable over making an enemy out of a friend. percy winning against insurmountable odds vs him losing because his loyalty is truly and undoubtedly fatal.

percy immediately apologizing to luke after he hurts him even though he is literally being betrayed because his fatal flaw is loyalty and he cannot fathom hurting the people he cares about… meanwhile luke turning around and hitting percy back without hesitation… i feel sick

can we talk about percy uncovering luke’s true intentions and luke coming clean about wanting to recruit percy as a powerful ally and percy obviously refusing despite sympathizing with the cause because he’s just better than that leading to them dueling, with luke about to strike percy down when annabeth’s blade, the one luke gifted her, the same cursed blade that’ll reap his soul 3 years from now, sealed with the promise of family and new beginnings, knocking backbiter out of luke’s hands, and luke turning to stare at her with the most heartbroken, torn expression on his face and annabeth staring him down with more venom than any pit scorpion could’ve had.
can we talk about annabeth standing in the clearing watching the only man she loves, someone who made a promise to protect her and always have her back, someone she’s known for 5 years, looming over a boy she met mere weeks ago, someone who, despite a godly rivalry getting in the way of their initial friendship, fought for her and saved her and chose her over himself time and time again…can we talk about how the defiance in her gaze made it very clear to luke that the person he’s closest to would choose percy over him every time

ok but thinking back on episode one after seeing Sally and Poseidon interact, how many times has Sally sat out in the rain? When Percy gets home from Yancy he doesn’t question why she’s sitting out there, or how long, or anything. How often does Sally sit out in the rain that it’s not something to be questioned? Is she just reminiscing over Poseidon and hoping he shows up this time? How many times has she summoned him? Is every rain drop a reminder of his touch? Is that his intention or her imagination? Or is it just the rain?

Ares saying he hates his own kids and the worst day of the year is when they visit him makes my heart break for Clarisse more. Clarisse fights so hard for scraps of her father’s attention and Ares sees her as just another nuisance. He doesn’t care about her unless she’s able to serve him. But Clarisse (like Annabeth) thinks she just has to work harder for him to love her. In her mind, it’s all her fault. Which is why she is so angry when little punk Percy strolls in at twelve years old, no training and unclaimed, and immediately defeats the minotaur. In three days hes already got the gods attention and his father claimed him. Of course she’s angry.

When I heard there was gonna be a Poseidon/Sally flashback I honestly thought we were gonna see Poseidon rizzing Sally up back when they first met

No, what’s getting me about Sally and Poseidon in episode 7 is that Sally didn’t even make a proper sacrifice. The meal was finished, so she couldn’t burn the best part of it/what she would miss most, but especially because it wasn’t even her meal. She lit a match, which is minuscule compared to the fire at camp and left it in someone’s leftovers. The most bare minimum a sacrifice can be and Poseidon is there immediately. Queen among women.

i know it’s a running gag that Percy never knows what’s going on, but can someone please explain the dynamic between gods and their children to him? it keeps breaking my heart when he talks to Annabeth about Athena in a way that implies that the gods see their children regularly or care about them

obsessed with the fact that the drachmas that camp gave Percy are in a shitty ziploc bag. like i’m pretty sure that’s what it says in the books anyways, but no one had a little coin purse for him?

genuinely stunned at the fantastic choice for Percy not to pray to his absent and unknown father—like he did in the books—but to his mother.
the show is really taking us to one of riordan’s central theses straight off the bat.
parenthood isn’t about power and legacy and the recognition of shared blood.
It’s about the incredible act of showing up for your child—again and again and a-fucking-gain. That’s how you inspire respect. That’s how you become a child’s patron and beloved god.
