i got shippy and now we have these as a loving reminder that it’s not supposed to be scary to plot a ship with people! the worst thing they can do is say no! so here’s a list of prompts to get some beautiful ships going on the dash. it goes without saying, i hope, but nevertheless: DO NOT ADD TO THIS LIST! i WILL edit it with new additions as time goes on!
REASONS TO TAKE SOMEONE ON A DATE.
[ BLIND ]: sender and receiver are set up on a blind date (i.e. a date set up by mutual friends without them knowing each other beforehand).
[ ONLINE ]: sender and receiver meet each other for a date after having matched on an online dating app.
[ SPEED ]: as part of a speed dating event, sender and receiver interact and decide to stick together rather than continue the event.
[ MISSION ]: in order to maintain their undercover identities, sender and receiver go on a date together.
[ ALIBI ]: as a reason to avoid a long and tedious event, sender and receiver pretend to be in a relationship as an excuse to slip away early.
[ ASK ]: having only just met, sender asks receiver out on a date due to feelings of attraction.
[ FRIENDSHIP ]: having been friends for a considerable length of time, sender and receiver go on a date due to either curiosity or recent attractions.
[ INTERVENE ]: sender intervenes during receiver’s disastrous date, and after saving them, they both go out together to try and make the evening a better one.
[ PRETEND ]: noticing the receiver has been stood up, the sender pretends to be their date instead, rather than letting the evening be wasted.
[ PLUS ONE ]: sender invites the receiver to a fancy event as their plus-one.
[ JEALOUSY ]: sender asks the receiver to be in a committed relationship with them in order to make their ex jealous.
[ TRICK ]: after much hassle from their family/friends about their love life, sender invites receiver to pretend to be their partner at an event to appease their loved ones’ concerns.
[ FREE ]: sender and receiver go on a date together to get free food/drinks at their favorite bar/restaurant.
[ UPLIFT ]: sender, noticing the receiver has had a terrible day/s, invites them out on a date with the goal of making them feel happier.
[ FIRST ]: sender and receiver go on their first date together.
[ PROPOSE ]: sender takes receiver out on a date, with the hidden intentions of asking them to marry them.
[ LONG ]: after a long and gruelling day, the sender spontaneously asks the receiver out on a date to brighten their own spirits.
[ TICKET ]: in order to gain access to a place/person/event, the sender convinces the receiver to take them as their plus-one, pretending to be in a relationship with the intentions of ending it the moment the event ends.

[ PICNIC ]: sender and receiver prepare a picnic together and go out to a secluded place to enjoy it.
[ EVENT ]: sender and receiver go on a date that happens to coincide with an event (e.g. wedding, gala, party etc.)
[ BEACH ]: sender and receiver go on a date on the beach.

[ MEET ]: sender meets the receiver at the designated place for their date.
[ COLLECT ]: sender meets the receiver at the receiver’s home (or an otherwise specified location) in order to accompany them to the date.
[ SWITCH ]: while ordering their meal/drinks, the sender and receiver switch orders, so that the receiver is ordering for the sender and the sender is ordering for the receiver.
[ TASTE ]: sender invites the receiver to taste what they ordered.
[ FEED ]: sender offers the receiver their fork so that they can try the sender’s food.
[ CHAIR ]: sender pulls out the receiver’s chair for them so they can sit down, and then pushes the chair back in a little more.
[ COAT ]: sender, noticing the receiver is shivering somewhat with the cold, removes their own jacket to wrap it around the receiver’s shoulders.
[ TAKE ]: sender helps the receiver remove their coat, and drapes it on the back of their chair.
[ ARM ]: sender bends their arm while they’re walking together so that the receiver can link arms with them mid-stroll.
