she  doesn’t  register  anyone  sitting  near  her ,  and  yet  when  she  turns  her  eyes  from  the  sky  to  the  cathedral  gardens ,  the  shah  is  there ,  quite  near  her .  ❛  your  majesty .  ❜  zeynab  says ,  the  ethereal ,  almost  magical  atmosphere  as  well  as  her  own  worries  causing  her  to  be  less  startled  than  she  would  assume  a  situation  like  this  would  make  her .  it  may  also  have  something  to  do  with  her ,  as  she  would  prefer  to  put  it ,  tense  view  of  mehdi  at  this  time .  ❛  are  you  perhaps  here  to  take  a  break  from  the  politics  and  admire  the  beauty  of  the  french  night  sky?  ❜  @shahmehdi​

" this is not a choice i can make lightly, is it? out of the three, i would surely tickle tsarina adalsinda - we are not so close for me to really do it, yet as i mean her absolutely no harm and treasure our friendship dearly i cannot in good faith hurt her. if i were to fight someone, it would have to be the dowager queen, barbara. while she has the might of sweden behind her, it is still not as fearsome as prince marius himself, whom it would seem like i have to insult - which is not a choice i could ever make in a real situation, i am much too wary of him. 𝐙𝐄𝐘𝐍𝐀𝐁  𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐒  𝐇𝐄𝐑  𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐒 ,  as  if  some  naïve  part  of  her  believed  this  to  be  a  legitimate  way  of  shielding  herself  somehow  from  the  chilling  wind ,  completely  inappropriate  at  this  time  of  year .  frowning ,  she  gazes  up  at  the  sky ,  only  to  discover  it  being  covered  with  thick ,  dark  clouds ,  not  only  an  unwelcome  break  from  the  usual  warmth ,  fitting  in  the  summertime ,  but  a  grim  reminder  of  the  incoming  rain .  even  the  distinctly  european  dress ,  thicker  than  her  usual  outfits ,  that  she  has  chosen  to  sport  this  morning  as  to  provide  some  much  sought-after  heat ,  is  proving  a  somewhat  pathetic  help  when  faced  with  the  unexpected  weather .  

what  is  surely  not  the  most  heartwarming  aspect  of  this  day  is  also  what  she  is  currently  waiting  for:  a  walk  through  the  gardens  and  interiors  of  the  palácio  dos  estaus  with  the  crown  princess  of  china ,  yicheng .

zeynab's  relationship  with  the  crown  princess  is  not  the  most  straightforward  and  uncomplicated  of  all  her  social  connections  -  sometimes  she  cannot  help  but  wonder  why  she  time  and  time  again  interacts  with  her  and  chooses  to  fill  her  spare  time  with  yicheng's  company .  the  other  woman ,  while  exactly  her  equal  in  age ,  is  both  of  infinitely  higher  standing  and  much  less  meek  and  subdued  in  her  personality  -  to  say  the  very  least .  the  chinese  princess'  bold  character  both  inspires  and ,  most  often ,  scares  zeynab .  she  is  not  a  presence  that  makes  her  feel  welcome  or  comfortable ,  not  even  after  the  years  that  have  passed  since  their  first  meeting .  yet  still ,  circumstance  keeps  pushing  them  together ,  and  zeynab  cannot  help  but  try  to  make  the  best  of  it .

pacing  to  keep  warm ,  she  keeps  on  waiting  in  front  of  the  chinese  residence  in  lisbon ,  preparing  for  the  reunion .  @crownedprxncess​
