under different circumstances | oliver & roxanna
@negatingspirit
roxanna woke up to the feeling of something dark and heavy holding her down. it was nearly suffocating and definitely some sort of magic. but who’s magic and where the source was, roxanna couldn’t place. pushing the covers off of her, she slipped out of bed and snuck out into the hallway. once the door to her dorm opened, the scene around her had changed completely. she was outside in the dark with the smell of smoke hanging in the air. flashes of memories appeared in her mind almost instantly. her father’s voice promising her that she would be powerful like him, the smell of blood, the hushed whispers of her father’s followers...it all came back to her along with the all too human like feeling of fear that she had felt all those centuries ago. roxanna hated it. the reminder of the fear she felt back then made her feel disgusting. clenching her fists, roxi tried to remind herself of the magic that she had felt when she first woke up, that this had to be part of whatever was going on, but the further she walked the harder it was to hold onto that. her knuckles started to turn white from how tightly she was clenching her fists, but roxanna didn’t care. she shouldn’t care. that was beneath her. roxanna savage did not feel fear. roxanna savage should be creating fear. the type of fear that--narrowing her eyes, roxanna noticed that she wasn’t alone in this odd...whatever this was. “olivier?” was this part of the vision or was he truly there. “say something.”

prince-of-pallas:
Pallas pursed his lips as he shrugged. “Does it? And here I was thinking it made me look undignified.” he teased back, a small chuckle sounding from him. “Oh? Seems to be the standard case a lot. He’s Batman, believe it or not”
"Undignified? Far from it actually.” Roxi let out a small chuckle, allowing her posture to appear relaxed and at ease around him. The son of Wonderwoman and Batman? He could prove rather useful and he intrigued her so far. Couldn’t hurt to get close to him. “ Perhaps one day I will finally be able to meet her. As for your father, I’ve met him once upon a time. Though I do find it hard to believe that he is your father...hmm, now that you mention it...” Roxanna trailed off with a hum, giving him a coy smile this time.

He shrugged his shoulders at her comment, trying to wrap his head around it. “Good luck finding some of those, I’d stick with the fifth years although they do love to argue.” He smiled followed by a slight nod of his head, “Deal, Roxi it is.” She seemed nice enough, she was at least trying. Sometimes, he was assuming, that children of villains had a harder time assimilating into society and the most noticeable way was they way they referred to the public. “There are better people for that, some won’t even react, I’m just a guy with a bow. Nothing impressive.”
“If they can hold a meaningful conversation then I do not mind the arguing all that much.” Roxanna shrugged only to smile when he chose to call her by the nickname she had offered him. “Modest in this situation too? Somehow I am getting the impression that you are more than just a guy with a bow, Frankie.” Slight compliments here and there, but nothing too obviously sweet. Besides she meant the observations she had made.

“Anya Barnes.” The agent saw no problem in revealing her name, it would only lead them to the conclusion that she wasn’t the sort to play around with. “I do not believe in rash decisions Miss…?”
“It certainly is a pleasure, Miss Barnes.” Slowly, Roxi held her hand out towards the other woman. “Roxanna. Roxanna Savage.”

“…spoken like someone who has been through that many times—But yes, that is usually how it goes. Strange how things tend to follow a pattern.”
❛ i’m trying to be a better person, but some people are testing me ❜
“isn’t that how it always goes? you’re trying your best and then some little shit comes up and puts your good mood down and you ruin everything you were doing?”

“Trust me, there isn’t.” At least, she hoped not. She certainly wasn’t crazy, there was still a nagging thought that she might be more like him that she realized. “My name’s Malory. And you?”
“Very well. As you wish,” Roxanna replied with a slight nod of the head. Not that she actually trusted the girl’s judgement on that, but she knew not to push right away. “Roxanna Savage. It is a pleasure, Malory.”

“Ok, I guess you got a point there” he said, nodding, already feeling a bit of heat rise to his face. It was odd, he never pegged himself one to be worked over by a pretty face, he was a warrior after all. Yet here he was. “I suppose not, really.” he said, offering a small shrug. “That would be her, yes. I assume you’re familiar with my parents?”
At the sight of his blush, a ghost of a smile appeared on her face. “ The blush seems to suit you, Pallas.” Roxanna teased lightly, finding the reaction from before amusing and wanting to see what he would do next. “I know of Wonderwoman, yes. I have not have the honor of meeting her though. Who would your father be?” She chose her words carefully again, not wanting to cause any suspicions.

“I’m sure you can find a way to keep them from teasing you if you wanted to.”
❛ You’re small, but you are mighty. ❜ (Roxi)
“Thanks. You should tell that to my cousins; they’re always teasing me cause I’m shorter than them.”

“Those are some rather charged words, Donovan. I almost feel sorry for the target of that statement. ”

“You’re the one who dumped me and now you’re back again to test the waters. How pathetic is that?”

“Fine, but it’ll expire in 6 months so don’t forget to cash it in quick.” Margot shot back with a smirk before thinking carefully. “Just one person?”
“Very well. I will not waste time.” Roxanna actually chuckled at the question posed to her, her actually amusement showing on her face for a split second. “One person for one piece of information you’re will to give in the future.”

Emma smiled and nodded, chin resting on folded hands. “That’s good, if you collect something from every era you visit then I’m sure you’ll be a very well rounded person. You’ve had the time most of us will never experience so it’s good to see you use some of it wisely.” Blue eyes glanced at the watch on her wrist, “If there’s nothing you want to tell me freely then we can end it here. Pick up next week.”
“You would be correct to assume so. Thank you, Ms. Frost.” Roxanna bowed her head a fraction of an inch as she smoothed the wrinkles of her skirt down. “ I can not think of something else that I need to tell you at the moment so I will just see you next week. I look forward to it.” She rose to her feet and crafted a smile onto her face before turning to leave. At least Emma Frost would be interesting to be around.

“I have many experiences in which to draw from.” Anya explained without really explaining anything at all. She was good at that, her papa said she got that from her mama. “Because you don’t have a motive, and do not seem like the sort to do anything without reason. It would be a waste of your time.”
Roxi hummed in response at first, eyeing the girl carefully. “You are a clever woman. Most do not take the time to think it through as you have. What is your name?”

kid-barton:
Being a fifth year had it’s perks, for one he was almost gone from that place. Being an Avenger kid wasn’t that bad of a thing either, people admired the archer, he only had a bow and arrow and despite no one admitting it, his wit. “Not worth your time? I don’t know, sayin’ it how you say it makes it seems like everyone’s a peasant.” He shrugged his shoulders before taking a sip from his now lukewarm coffee. “Up to you really, I don’t have a preference.” He changed the mug onto his left hand as he shook the other’s with his right. “And what interesting results are those?”

“The meaning behind both statements are the same, are they not?” Roxanna replied, a smirk finding it’s way onto her face. “Though I supposed you make a good point. Maybe I’ll stick to saying that around people with thicker skin.” She paused as if thinking over what she wanted to refer to him by. “If I were to call you Frankie then you may call me Roxi.” She finally offered, after some actually consideration. Very few people had gotten away with calling her by that name, but he was amusing so far so she didn’t see why not give him the choice. “The result of this situation being the two of us meeting, of course. Also the fact that I have learned you may be the one to go to when I want to get someone...off my case, as some would say.”

Mal snorted. Sure, maybe some of the students needed a lesson in discipline. But she doubted they would want to learn anything from her. Absently wiping a spot off the blade with her shirt, she offered a small smile. “The Joker. I know, not much family resemblance.”
“The Joker? Interesting. While that may be true and I would not have been able to guess right away, there may be a resemblance somewhere.” Roxi spoke calmly, finding the girl before her to be even more interesting now. “What is your name?”

“I do not think we can ever truly trust ourselves.” Anya answered simply if slightly cryptically. She’d been trained never to reveal a weakness unless it could be used to her advantage. She saw no advantage to making it known now. “You’re only 0.37% of a suspect.”
“Very true words. Ones that seem to come from experiences.” It was a safe answer. One that impressed Roxanna and only made her more curious. “Now that is a low number. Why is that?”
