Eric appeared to be studying but in reality, he was just playing a game. With his powers, he was able to manipulate it and play multiple sessions at the same time, aiming to beat his personal record for pac-man. It wasn’t until the laptop screen was pressed close with a sharp snap that could even be heard over his headphones that he looked up with a slight frown. “Oh-” He swallowed thickly when he realized who it was, how pretty she was, and he felt his words get stuck in his throat. Clearing it with a soft grunt, he removed his headphones, hooking them around his neck. “Hi.” His voiced cracked on the monosyllabic word and Eric suddenly felt the urge to punch himself. Instead, he tried again. “Sorry– hi, how can I help you?” 

“Hello. Theodora Mason. We’re in the same computer science course with Professor Sanchez.” Her tone was brisk and professional her spine straight as took advantage in the fact that in that moment she towered over him. “My major is Business Management and until this semester, I was permitted to waive my required computer science credit in in order to complete my studies in an accelerated curriculum. However, this year my permission to waive said courses has been revoked. Therefore, in order to maintain my impeccable GPA, I have selected you to assist me  in this upcoming semester. Congratulations on being one of the most competent computer science students at Aurora.”

Theodora Mason was a strategist. In order to succeed, one had to be prepared for any and all situations that they might meet. Which is why she was making a bee line towards where Eric Liu was situated in the library, his laptop out and headphones on. It was the universal “do not disturb” signal, but she ignored it. He was one of the most tech savvy people in the school, and therefore valuable. At least for now. So, pressing his lap top lid closed with a snap, she stared at him expectantly, waiting for him to acknowledge her before she spoke.

You got a lot of elderly aunts? Any of them amnesiacs who are extraordinarily wealthy? And are they looking to adopt any nieces because, like, I was working two jobs all break and tbh I’m so ready to be adopted into the bourgeoisie. 

I’m sure we all had a grand old time at home and I don’t know about you guys but I’m real ready to get back and not smile and nod at yet another elderly aunt I barely know. Which means I’m in dire need of something fun to do. Is it too soon to throw a back-to-campus party?

I don’t have a great understanding of what makes a good poem, but I can certainly proof read for grammar and the like. Although, I know that grammatical deviations can be a part of the creative endeavor, so in hindsight, I’m not sure I’d be the best at offering any feedback of merit.

All the same, my offer still stands, should you wish to take it.

Alright– I’m going to need a beta reader for this thing. Over break we were given prompts for one of my new classes. Poetry.. unfortunately, and I know it’s not my strong suit. Who wants to sacrifice their brain cells to help me out?

I’m pretty sure I was supposed to use break as a way to give my body a break from coffee but I don’t think it worked.
