Quarantine & Chill;

Except it’s not chill, like at all. I’m only writing this to be able to look back in a few years from now & remember how absolutely insane these times are. COVID-19 has swept across the planet infecting hundreds of thousands of people & virtually every country is in lockdown & citizens can’t go anywhere unless it’s for essentials; gas, food, medicine, medical help. People out in public are wearing masks & gloves, toilet paper sold out & grocery stores completely picked clean. Hospitals running out of supplies & doctor’s having to make war-like decisions on who’s life to save, when one patient may have a higher chance of survival over another. Oh & the grand fact that America’s healthcare system is a joke & people are dying because their insurance doesn’t cover the life saving treatment they need. INSANE is it not? I’m still getting used the fact that this is our reality & will be for the next few weeks. I’ve been out of work for 2 weeks now & Kody’s been home a week now. I’m trying to make the best of a bad situation & love on my son as much as possible with the kind of time I haven’t had with him since I was on maternity leave. But shit, is it hard. I thrive on routine & the stability of one reigns in my anxiety disorder. My nails look horrendous & I haven’t been to the gym in 3 weeks. Terrible 2’s is kicking in & I have bawled the past 2 days from the stress of it all & somedays it’s hard to get out of bed. I’ve gone through a few bottles of wine & lots of 🌿to stay sane. But in the middle of all my bitching I remember we’re safe, bills are paid, we’re healthy & our main complaint is disruption of daily life & missing our family & friends, but for others the reality is so much worse. For the people working in healthcare, it’s SO much worse. & I pray for their strength, courage & protection while they battle this war. We’re not even at the worst part of this pandemic yet & honestly I’m terrified. But I’m trying to stay strong & Kody is my rock when I can’t be anymore & for that I’m so grateful. Hopefully the next time I post it’s May & life’s returned to normal. If not, I will likely be in a straightjacket.
