A popular fandom headcanon i just don't get: Vi and Jayce being buddies. Maybe if they met through Caitlyn sure, but going by canon, i don't think Vi likes Jayce all that much. They'd stay amicable for Cait's sake but then shit talk eachother

And i think this comes mostly from people seeing them as bimbo/himbo solidarity which neither of them are?? If you want silly, just goofing around interactions, Vi has Ekko and Jayce has Caitlyn

I don't think I'd have as many problems as i have with Caitlyn if act I of season 2 hadn't been so good. Caitlyn was the star of act I and it got me so excited about her character journey when I'd put her as one of the most boring characters of season 1. I was hooked, i was ready to become a Caitlyn apologist.

I don't need a character to be a "good person" for me to enjoy them, i want them to be entertaining and compelling. I was so goddamn ready for the writers to use Caitlyn as a commentary on how the mighty fall, how there is no such thing as a good cop. To see Caitlyn, who was portrayed as a kind person willing to fight her and all of Piltover's prejudices to bring justice to the Undercity, be blinded by grief and revenge. Season 2 act I showed a Caitlyn who had never been told "no" in her life enact all the violence her family name allowed her to on innocent people because she saw it as her right.

At first i genuinely thought they were going to break up caitvi, there was no way they could make Caitlyn come back from inviting Vi into the enforcers, to treat her like "one of the good ones" of the Undercity, to call everyone in Zaun "animals", to literaly suffocate the entire city to find Jinx. Caitlyn had a lot A LOT to make up for for me to get invested in caitvi let alone making me see her as one of the good guys.

And then we get act II. It wasn't Cait's fault guys, she was grieving and Ambessa took advantage of that! Bullshit. Ambessa didn't tell her to use the Grey, didn't tell her to make Vi join the enforcers and did not tell to hit Vi when she became the first person since Cassandra's death to tell her "no cait, you can't do that". Sure Ambessa caused the attack during the funeral but that only fed the fire that was already burning.

It's just so upseting. They managed to get Caitlyn into my top 3 in just one episode only to catastrophically drop the ball

A few hc for what they look like

- Jayce dresses like a proper Piltover lady. Being the face of hextech and later on a council member means that she can never look any less than perfect but she gets... Creative with it. As she would be constantly jumping between the lab, meetings and parties, Jayce just keeps a tool box in the lab full of makeup. Mel would compliment how shiny her skin looks for it to metal dust and sweat from the forge. Asking Viktoria to pass the blowtorch so she could heat a metal rod to curl her hair. Pretty privilege but its being held together with duct tape by the end of the day

- Viktoria mostly wears the male academy uniform she bought second hand in Zaun and still can't afford the female one in Piltover. Long hair that she will just pull up in a ponytail or bun. Looks sickly and has a resting bitch face. Ximena has given her some hand me downs cause Jayce's are too big on her. Feels more comfortable with pants and suits but will wear the only dress she owns if the occasion calls for it

"Is there anything as undoing as a daughter" is THE quote from season 1 in just how perfectly can be applied to the the parents of the main women of the show:

- Silco and Jinx, obviously. Giving up on his dream of Zaun to protect Jinx from being sent to jail to rot

- Vander giving up his freedom to protect Vi from also being taken away by enforcers

- Mel being the only person capable of making Ambessa falter on her ruling of house Medarda

- And while not her direct cause of death, Cassandra respecting Caitlyn views of Zaun's people and allowing her to go after Vi. It could have even been a major influence on her vote to give autonomy to the Undercity. Ignoring Jinx's missile, Cassandra would give Zaun to Silco under Caitlyn's influence

All this to say that I would have loved for season 2 to be from their children's perspective of the family conflict. We had a bit of it with Caitlyn's guilt to uphold her mother's principles and keeping Piltover safe after failing to save her, but what about the other 3? Vi dealing with having failed to keep the family together and even being a symbol of unity for Zaun as Vander's prodigy. Mel's internal conflict of having to take command of the Medarda house when Ambessa eventualy falls to the Black Rose because their fate was sealed by the Kindred and yes im making blood sweat and tears canon.

And as for Jinx, her having become Zaun's rebellion symbol against Piltover like we had with season 2, but also against the Chem Barons now that there is no Silco to keep them in line.

"Heavy is the crown" should've sticked around for the whole series, as a new generation has to take control of the damages caused by conflict and love
