It has been brought to our attention that there is a rumor spreading across our students and faculty insinuating that death rates are higher among students and ensigns who wear red uniforms because of their specialties in security and engineering. Although our research has unfortunately shown that death rates do seem to be higher among those is the more dangerous field of security, this is by no means a result of the color of the uniform. Similarly, this is by no way a reason to be discouraged to attend the academy, regardless of field. We hope that these rumors will not continue, and any student in the upcoming year who is observed spreading rumors or discouraging others from attending the academy because of these false claims will be subjected to disciplinary action.

I appreciate you bringing up this point. We are training our future Starfleet members to fly safely, as well as taking measures to keep it that way. In an earlier student board meeting this had been brought up, but the rule had failed to pass in the vote. The only excuse the opposing side had offered was “it would be less fun”.

I'm so tired of the unsafe working conditions in Starfleet ships and I hereby declare my intention to give all Starfleet officers seatbelts. They stumble all over the bridge any time the ship gets hit or fucks up and there is a simple way to fix it. Let's make meaningful change, people
