name: elandriathwyn is her grove - given name , ( the name belonging to her as a dryad ) . elowyn , meaning tree maiden , was the name given to her by selune in her reawakening . age: thousands of years . though she is ancient in spirit & wisdom , her physical form is relatively new & her knowledge of the world beyond her grove is limited . gender: gender means little to a dryad , but she accepts she/her or they/them pronouns with no preference . race: dryad turned shifting human ( 'werebear' ) . class: multiclass; cleric - ranger , dabbles in druidic ritual spells . deity: sworn cleric of selune . the sun goddess found elowyn during her darkest hour , & brought forth light . weapons: longbow, shortbow, crossbows, shortswords, arcane. noteworthy names: morgath ( the enchantress who freed ela from the grove ) , selune ( the sun deity who saved her from morgath )

biography,

elandriathwyn hails from an ancient grove in the heart of faerun . the grove is a safe haven , alight with faeries & fauns alike . the occasional adventurer might wander into the grove , just to be pulled into the fray of song & dance , then cast out from the grove on the other side . the dryads of this grove are ancient , old as the twisting elms they are bound to . elandriathwyn lived here in harmony for thousands of years , this peace eventually turning to stagnation . while those around her seemed content to remain here , elandriathwyn yearned to see faerun beyond the grove .

after many years , an enchantress found her way into the grove . she spoke with many of the dryads , & as she passed elandriathwyn , there was a clever glint in her eye . she promised ela her freedom from her tree , if only she would accompany the enchantress on her travels . elandriathwyn eagerly accepted , & she was cleaved from her tree . true to her word , the enchantress led her from the grove - yet as soon as they found the main road , ela was turned into a bear . safer that way , the enchantress assured; no one could know what she truly was . morgath kept ela in her bear form most hours of the daytime , when others would be around ; & she was easily passed off as a familiar .

following nearly three years of mistreatment from morgath , elandriathwyn fled into the night ; her two legs becoming four as the curse took hold . it was under the crack of dawn , deep in the mountains that elandriathwyn was found . selune opened her arms , shedding her light upon the frightened bear. she made elandriathwyn an offer ; the dryad could return to her grove & her tree , or she could pick up a shield in selune's name . this was ela's reawakening , finding her faith in selune & devoting her life to her . selune loved her deeply , giving her power over her transformations; she could walk as a human but become a bear at will , no longer dictated by morgath . she was renamed to elowyn by selune , & took up her shield to defend the sun goddess .
