SEMESTER HAS ENDED AND I'VE JUST LEARNED SOMETHING

It was like last week since the semester started, and now it is about to end. This subject is about to end and I can’t dare to say that I haven’t learned anything, with that, I will be sharing my learnings from this subject in this last blog. In the whole semester, this subject has a total of 3 lecture series that were about business and innovation, 2 pitching presentations that were considered as the midterm and final exams, and ordinary class discussion were held.

During the first lecture series that was conducted by the guest speaker, Dr. Dumancas who talked about the “Intellectual property Rights and Technology”. I have learned from this lecture that there will be something generated by the mind, including inventions, creative works, and more. I have also learned that, defending one's intellectual property is important for preventing competitors from copying your product, developing and implementing its identity, and negotiating licensing agreements with other companies to allow them to regenerate it. It was a great opportunity also that I was able to know various intellectual property rights that are available. This lecture series is important and helpful especially in strengthening the business.

The second lecture series was all about the START-UP journey that was discussed by the guest speaker, Ms. Nacua of EHATID, a multi-talented entrepreneur who worked in digital design, education, management, sales, and marketing. I have learned that, before implementing ideas, we must understand the innovation's goal, which should not be solely based on profit, but on the value, it provides to the masses and its growth. We must ensure that everything is working toward the same goal. In addition, by identifying the problems, weak points and lacking, as well as continuing to develop concepts and ideas, we can surely make the best possible team for our START-UP.

As for the last lecture series that was conducted by the guest speaker, Ms. Lacadin, and was all about the “Resource Generation for Startups". Through this lecture series, I have understood more about how START-UP works. During the discussion, she stated that, entrepreneurs today must use digital marketing to grow their businesses or must take risk falling behind. She also added that, a lack of market needs and cash, an insufficient team, and being outcompeted are all reasons why start-ups fail. I have learned from these lecture series that identifying problems and lacking, opening minds to develop new ideas and concepts, as well as having the best possible team would possibly make reach the Start-up goals.

Furthermore, I will end this last blog with the progress of where we are now in our entrepreneurial journey. Today, December 10, 2021, we had our final pitching presentation. Our project proposal for “Transportation Services and Sugo Expresss” has come to an end with good results. We received feedbacks from the panelist as well as recommendations in order to make the proposal more validated and improve our entrepreneurial minds. On top of that, we were so grateful that finally it ended with positive results, and with the guidance of the educators. And now I will be ending this blog content with a reminder, ��We might fail, but failure will never be the finish line, it will always be part of our journey to success instead”.

What I have learnt

“Roadrunners and Sugo express”, the name of our proposed project. This business is about providing a service to the people in Valencia City, Bukdinon, for those who are struggling for transportation especially in this time of pandemic and is also intended for people who wished to commute in a faster and safer way. The sugo express is an extra service for people who would like to buy some things but do not wished to go out. This was presented during the pitching, and luckily, we had a smooth presentation. We didn’t get a lot of questions and received an advice to focus on the view of the drivers regarding this proposal.

Just a week ago, we had our Lecture series and now asked what are the lessons that we’ve obtained from it. Firstly, from the lecture 1 which was about the Intellectual property rights, I have learned that this refers to the right given to people over the creation of their minds. Giving the creator a whole right over the use of his/her creation for a certain period of time. Its purpose is to encourage new creations, including artwork, technology, and inventions, that might possibly help economic growth. Lastly, for the lecture 2, what I have learned about the speakers as they started their business and where they are right now. It is always the best feeling when you come up with a good idea, but it is also difficult contemplating whether to start or not, to give it a try or not. First times are always the hardest. In business, I’m always amazed to those businessmen who have successfully achieved their goals and for not giving up, because business is not easy. You will always put something at risk in order to know whether you’ll acquire a good or bad outcome.

Group Venture Proposal

It's almost 2 months since the semester started, new lessons and activities were unlocked. Venture proposal was introduced and the class was divided for this team or group project. Our proposal product was based from my teammate idea, and what I did was to support since I like the idea and I can’t come up with any suggestions. The product proposal was about a Wifi/Cellular Range Extender signal intended for people especially students who are residing in remote areas or those people who are experiencing an unstable internet connection. The plan of earning is to introduce and produce it to target areas in a friendly price. The proposal was checked and returned for some revision. However, our group decided to change the product proposal and each of us will have to suggest a product and voting will be done for finalization of the group’s venture proposal.

This group activity is an opportunity to be able to communicate with my classmates, to share individual ideas and be more comfortable with each other despite of doing it through virtual. In my case, I like group activity since I don’t have to carry all the worries, but the problem is that I’m worried I can’t contribute to my group LOL. Anyways, let’s keep fighting and acknowledge every activity for us to learn new things. FIGHTING!!!

How was the New and Start?

Time really flies so fast, it was like just last month I was having a hard time adjusting as a freshman college and to the new normal learning. One year have passed already in college life. I’m now in 2nd year level, means new journey, new challenges, new classmates, new professors and subject. Another year of survival to fight for our dreams. Since, it’s a new academic year means subjects are new, new things I can learn aside from my chosen field.

Speaking of new subject, there is Entrepreneurial mind. Honestly, I really don’t have much knowledge and ideas regarding entrepreneurship, all I know is that it will be related to business. As the class starts with the Entrepreneurial Mind Introduction topic, we were asked about what entrepreneur is. A brief overview about Entrepreneurship was discussed and I catch up new knowledge about entrepreneurs and their businesses. If I would share one lesson about Entrepreneurial Mind based on its introduction, I would say that entrepreneurship or being an entrepreneur is not easy yet rewarding and enjoy. From having or should have an innovative and creative mind to come up with creative and innovative ideas or products. The process of planning with the team, risking wrong ideas and make new ones, and thinking the best for the product or projects. Honestly speaking, I admire those successful entrepreneurs as I watched how it works to be an entrepreneur in kdramas. I just love how they work as a team and plan every possible good and bad outcome about their projects or products and try to come up again another solution or ideas to make the best of it and become accretive.

The thought of entrepreneurship is creative, this subject is not just about thinking creative and new products but it helps people to be creative and innovative in every field they want. As a student nurse, it might be different from my chosen field but I know some lessons that I will learn from this subject will be helpful for me as a person and as a nurse someday. Having an entrepreneurial mind is not easy yet fulfilling, if I will be asked if I want to be an entrepreneur, I would say “I will if I am capable and confident enough”, I want to try new things. On top of that, the thought of having a business sounds rich LOL. If ever time comes that I will have this thought that I want to build a business, "I want to be an entrepreneur”, I want to try new then I will start it if I think I am capable enough to do it. Thanks to this subject because my not so creative mind tries to think deeply creative and innovative ideas and products.
