They’re hyperventilating in a corner of the courtyard, eyes hidden behind their hat. The numbness they could deal with, but... total void of the ego? That was something else.

No touch? Now, that was something new.
To have no real sense of where their limbs were or how to control them, it was something they’d naturally play with. What started as accidentally banging their foot, their mind got curious as to what they could get away with. An hour alone brought them a cluster of bruises up their arms and legs, and a strange high.
At the first poor individual they came across, Val throws open their arms towards them.
“ Smack me!! Gimme a good punch– I can’t feel anything!! “
What a curious individual. Not to say that Korekiyo didn’t have several large bruises currently, but they were quite unintentional. And had involved quite a lot of almost-swearing when they had seen the injuries.
“I can’t feel anything either, tho no matter how much I would like to punch you, I have the feeling I would regret it afterwardth.”
Not that Korekiyo particularly wanted to hit them in the first place.

They’re still wearing nothing but a t-shirt, their sleeping mask, and sweatpants, but they doubt they could successfully button a shirt and a jacket at this rate. Korekiyo is quite cranky, and as a result, so is Sister.
“If you have a moment,” they ask, scowl barely visible behind their usual polite visage, from their seat on their front porch, “I think thomthing unuthual is going on. I... cannot feel anything in my body.”

@fatetransfer liked for a starter.
“Excuthe me...” Korekiyo called out, then winced at the realization of what was going on with their tongue. Surely everyone would make fun of them now, just as other children had back then. But there was no helping it for now. They waved at the woman, trying to get their attention.
“I theem to have fallen and am having trouble getting back up,” this was the second time this had happened, and they were currently on the porch of their cabin, leaning against the outside wall. Thankfully, they had managed to throw on a t-shirt before heading out the door.

Korekiyo awakens and it is as if they were dreaming. No feeling, not even the sense that they are breathing. Their hands fumble, reaching to pull the sheets off and check that they are still breathing.
1, 2. 1, 2.
They can see their chest move, yet they feel nothing. Korekiyo rips their light night mask off and tries to stand, only to crumble to the floor. Although they know logically they twisted their ankle, there is no pain. There is no nothing, it is as if any part of their body they cannot see fades into non-existence.
Korekiyo can hear their heartbeat drumming in their ears, crazed and irregular, but otherwise, it might as well not be there.

to describe this meeting as fate was far too flattering; though, one could suppose that korekiyo’s death was an act of destiny. in the philosophy of justice, the world had persisted & persisted that those who had committed acts of crime & murder would face their own taste of it. humans often spoke of karma; that selfish souls such as their would come to their untimely end, & they too, would end up butchered & battered in their own blood. every killer had their own motive – some, for their own needy heart, & some were propelled by a force of some kind, an outsider puppeteer who had treated them as nothing more than their marionette of slaughter. was it any wonder to the serpent as to why they had died?
( & what a humorous death it had been! their daze had been a fresh painting of despair & sorrow – ah, to think that someone could become so wrapped up in their own family ties. how disgusting. how foolish! love would be the downfall of some of the poor souls here; but that was their endpoint, wasn’t it? he wonders, oh he wonders – just how far would they go for their dearest sister? or would other motives eventually tempt their darkened heart? )
a chuckle rolls out of the low of his chest, serpentine eyes leering down at the other as if they were less than dirt. amusement dances in his hues as they slither about, tracking every moment as if they were prey; & in a sense, they were. they were nothing more than a toy in his own little game: persist as their sister might, he would pull their strings from now on. as they try to rush past, snakes spawn from the darkness of the shadows to efficiently block them off from moving forward.
❛ attempting to flee so soon? how rude. ❜
( the fear radiating off of them – their shiver, their best attempt at composure… that sort of look is his favorite. it’s a delicious meal made of tragedy & terror! wonderful, magnificent! )
his body moves smoothly, without care as he slips off of his perch; he has no need to rush, & it’s more fun to goad& bait prey. he hums as his boots sound against the ground, & he draws closer – leans in somewhat, just to intimidate.
❛ ahh, but since you so kindly asked, ❜ the words hold a sneer, an amused twang rolling into it as he mocks, ❛ indeed, indeed, you may! ❜
a hand reaches out, & fingers barely brush to their chest as he pushes them back to create distance, snakes slithering up his arm as they are no longer called for.
❛ humor me, brat: what do you think of this place, hm? ❜
Another shiver ran up Korekiyo’s spine as they watched the snakes block the path to safety. What were they supposed to do? They had never fought someone on fair terms before, simply capitalizing on weakness. Besides, with the other having this sort of supernatural strength, it seemed like a poor idea in the first place.
What were they supposed to do? Korekiyo’s words deserted them as they stared into the eyes of their captor. It was a long moment before Korekiyo remembered to try and force themself to speak.
“D-d-don’t... I...” Korekiyo’s eyes darted about, their hands fumbling with various zippers and necklaces about their person. “I-it’s...” Still, the words didn’t come, already forced out against the scale of their panic. Korekiyo could feel her exasperation growing, and quickly let her do as she pleased.
“Humor you?” asked Sister, removing the mask. “Well... for the moment I shall. You’ve built an excellent prison. But don’t think Korekiyo and I cannot escape it, one way or another.” The threat was obvious.
“After all... the power of our love will be stronger than your mere amusement at suffering,” Sister wrapped her arms around themself.

Elodie seemed not to notice that she was being spoken to for at least a few moments. When she finally looked up, it was clear that she was really more a girl than a woman, and a decidedly eerie one at that. Still, she made a weak attempt at a smile. If someone was going to go out of their way to talk to her, she might as well show them the same courtesy.
“Ah…is it?” she replied quietly. So quietly, in fact, that her voice was barely audible. “I’m sorry, I really don’t know much about architecture…”
She let the silence sit for a while longer, as if mulling over something to say. Her voice sounded…hoarse. From crying, maybe. Or disuse. Or both.
“Or Japan, for that matter.”
Korekiyo tried not to chew their lip from underneath their mask, it was bad for their lipstick. Logically, they knew that they were also a ghost, and they had communed with spirits before, but there was something to be said about someone who looked so actively ghost-like.
“Forgive my intrusion,” Korekiyo replied. “I’m Korekiyo Shinguji. I’m an anthropologist, so I spend a significant amount of time studying buildings and the culture surrounding them.” Korekiyo could go on, but didn’t.
“What’s your name?”

oh, this person was tall! very tall! she actually had to stare up at them, before she gave a smile. they didn’t seem like they were related to the snakes, if they were covering their face ( and the snakes all had scales upon their faces, from what she could tell ).
“hi! i guess you kind of ended up here too, huh? we all did. i’m magdalena!”
How strange, Korekiyo thought. How long had this girl been here that she was entirely calm about their situation? Perhaps longer than they themself.
“I am indeed trapped here, the same as you. ...As for names, I’m called Korekiyo Shinguji.” Magdalena, huh? Perhaps she was named after the Blessed Virgin, Korekiyo thought. How curious.

It seemed like there truly was no way out of this place, as they’d been told- and Korekiyo was hesitant to try any more exploring than they already had, riding the train down a few stops and looking about.
There was a woman standing there when Korekiyo passed around a corner. Was she another one of the lost souls sent to inhabit this place, they wondered. Perhaps Korekiyo could make some much needed allies, part of their mind thought. Another part thought that second death would be preferable to talking to strangers here.
“The architecture in this place is certainly Japanese,” Korekiyo spoke softly, trying not to startle the other too much.

Well, what a major inconvenience. Of all the times for Samael to stumble upon a human it had to be during his daily walk admiring the desolated and grim scenery the Haze always was kind enough to deliver.
He shoots a glare at the human that stumbled in front of him before eyeing them carefully. Now this is a peculiar sight. It was too early for someone to be this affected by the hellish aura of this place, so what was that had them in such a state?
“Human! Watch where you’re going! Or is it that you value your life so little that you wish to meet a second end? Apologize or get off my sight unless you wish to really tremble for something”
Korekiyo looked up at him like a deer in headlights. This was the first other person he had met since coming here- and he didn’t seem particularly normal either. What to say? What to say?
“I- Who are- d-did you-” Korekiyo swallowed thickly, their heart beating like it would stop any moment. “Sister, p-please...” their tone of voice was almost pathetic as they reached for their mask.
“Apologize,” Sister pulled down the mask, revealing their bright red lipstick, licking their lips. “Despite dear Korekiyo’s incompetence, one cannot just go around threatening them. Perhaps if you apologize quickly, I won’t make you regret being born.”

Finally, Korekiyo had found their way to what was supposed to be the lodging for this world, at least for them. They were still twitching a little, but the worst of their panic was over with, and Sister’s voice had calmed for now.
Someone was sitting on a particularly large boulder in front of one of the cabins- Korekiyo quickly realized it was their’s, based on the matching number on their key and the cabin door. To their chagrin, they realized they would likely have to talk to them. Normally, this is where Sister would help, but she was upset and unlikely to willingly help them- she did tend to be vindictive, even when Korekiyo was young.
“Can I do something for you?” Korekiyo said, trying to not look too psyched out. A shiver ran up their spine as they realized who it was- one of the two from earlier. They grit their teeth behind the mask and started to rush past him.

Korekiyo had found themself at a lake. There was various signage, none of which they had particularly paid attention to, somewhat unusually for someone as curious as themself. Instead, they had wandered onto the dock and busied themself with a length of rope, tying and folding it into a complicated albeit pleasing knot. It made it easier to ignore the voice in their head.
They twitched as they heard footsteps behind them, not entirely sure how physical they were. Sister had demands, but Korekiyo somewhat guiltily continued to work with the rope instead of acknowledging Sister.
“Do you have some business with me?” Korekiyo asked, their voice surprisingly even.
