Conversation
Liv: Stress is making my hair fall out! Look at me!
Tombstone: Doc, you have the fullest head of hair I've ever seen. I would kill for that hairline.
Liv: I believe you would!

â iâve spent enough time around you that i want to believe you, but you didnât really do anything to make that clear. â the teen pointed out, raising her pierced brow at the other woman. â i mean, you attacked peter first, before you even knew that we had stolen your computer. or, more like before you knew they had stolen your computer. what were we supposed to do? stop in the woods and hope your interns would stop shooting at us long enough to have a polite conversation about how we only wanted to get home and prevent brooklyn from collapsing? âÂ
gwen thought about it for a moment. traveling to other universes, seeing all the different variations of the spiders in those universes, seeing miles and peter again⌠it all sounded nice. but being gone from her earth for so long had really messed things up, and she wanted time to make up for everything. for disappearing, for being so isolated after peterâs death⌠traveling the multiverse just didnât seem like a good idea.Â
â iâm not opposed to the idea, it just⌠isnât a good idea for me right now. â she finally admitted, heading to the hall closet to grab the doc a pillow and some blankets, hoping that olivia hadnât seen the look of sadness that had flashed across her face. â i need to stay here, focus on my life and family. but.. maybe one day. seeing the multiverse sounds cool. â she couldnât help but say that last part, because it was the truth. Â
âNaturally I attacked him. He was Spider-Man, I was still missing the old Peter Parker, he showed up in my lab, it was the perfect opportunity. Plus he really didnât get the hint before then.â She had to help the poor guy out. âAs much fun as our little battles were, do you think Iâd purposefully draw a bunch of enemies to my dimension? Itâs not the most tactical move.â Liv scoffed. âOnly wanted to get home? You also wanted to destroy my collider.â And now it was probably being dismantled.Â
âI wasnât inviting you to tag along.â Sure, she had enticed Gwen with the idea of getting to see her little friends again, but that would be later. She had dibs on exploring the multiverse first, and maybe someday, if shown the proper recognition, she could be persuaded to share that technology. But this wasnât a field trip. This was a new discovery that was hers alone.Â

âOh, thanks.â She sat with her knees bent, leaning against the pillow with one blanket spread over her legs. She folded another one to cushion her arm, the better to avoid straining her injured elbow. Wasnât Gwenâs family just her dad? He was a grown man, he should be able to take care of himself. For once she passed up the chance to be difficult. âIt does, doesnât it?â With a little sigh she rested her good elbow on her legs, almost content. âAll the worlds out there... you could spend a lifetime seeing them.â

âOh come on! You think they just leave these laying around?â They did in fact. No one really around to even notice if she had taken one or not. But that didnât change the fact that Liv was being rude.  âNext time Iâll just have to make it something more. Well nothing that much more, I canât like steal food from kids or something.â
âSo you met my grandfather on one of his bad days?â she asked with a small smile to try and lighten the mood a bit. She couldnât tell if she was looking at the Sentinelâs specs or the tech itself.  âOh yeah sure,â she said turning it off and locking it before handing it over.  âNot that itâll do you much good locked up like that. And I will take it back if you try to take it apart. Iâm not going to just let you have your way with my tech.â She spun around on her heels once before facing Olivia with a grin, âUnless you want to take it back to your evil lair with me in tow.â
âYeah, probably.â Liv shrugged before giving Marya an unimpressed look. âIâm not asking you to steal for me.â She wasnât a petty thief, nor did she employ them. In fact she only had stolen what she couldnât acquire legally. âLike I said I have plenty of my own awards. And food. If I want your skills Iâll ask.âÂ
She frowned as Marya locked the device, making it of very little use to her. She could keep it to dismantle later, an idea they turned out to be almost in agreement on. Liv didnât need long to consider. âItâs more of a laboratory than a lair, but yeah, sure.â Alchemax also wouldnât be very interesting unless she unlocked the right doors. They had civilians in there infrequently, on private tours. It had to be presentable. And her office... well, there might be a few spare parts lying around, but Marya already knew about the arms. She tossed the device in the air and caught it again. âLetâs go, Iâll treat you to lunch.âÂ

Marya crossed her arms and gave Olivia a pout and a stern huff as the small statue hit the ground.  âYou know that was a lot of work to steal for you. A whole lot of work,â she said clearly being extra dramatic and childish.  âYou could at least appreciate the effort.â Marya knew she would be able to see past the charade and know just how little effort it would take someone like Marya to steal most anything she wanted.
Shrugging of her words was easy enough, it wasnât like she was disagreeing with the older villain persay.  âYou probably donât have mutants back in your world, but in a lot of them, weâre hated and hunted. Humans built giant robots to contain and kill us,â she said pulling a small device out showing a holographic picture of one with a few specifications written down.  âI watched my friends die because of one of these. Magneto was right sometimes.â
Liv tapped a finger against her chin. âSomehow I donât buy that. Didnât ask you to steal me an award, either.â Marya claimed to be a hero, but here she was stealing things. Last time she checked, that was a crime. It hadnât been very funny, either. Not worth the effort. âNext time donât bother.âÂ

Oh, she knew a thing or two about mutants, but it wasnât the exact same situation as Marya described. âNot as many, just a few individuals, usually hellbent on destroying whatever city they end up in.â Olivia moved closer, examining the projection from multiple angles. âHow terrible,â she said, her voice dripping with well-rehearsed sympathy. âSuch is the way of the world, Iâm afraid. Hey, would you mind letting me get a look at that?â With her most winning smile she held out her hand expectantly.Â

A fierce part of May wanted to ask exactly what Olivia meant by being dismissive of Peter, or her universeâs Peter perhaps, but she held the urge, reminding herself that she was trying to make friends. At what point sheâd decided that being friends with this strange woman was a goal at all, however, was unclear.
âThereâs no, I donât know, fancy scientific description of the difference?â May asked. That was before she leaned in to look at the picture, and when she did, she frowned. âEverything? It looks likeâŚlike a painting. A good one, butâŚyouâre not saying everything in your dimension is that bright and colorful, right?âÂ
âIf there is I canât think of it right now.â She was too excited to take detailed notes, though she fully intended to later. If it wasnât for May, Olivia wouldâve taken off through the streets to see everything, but it wouldnât be polite to leave a lady hanging in the middle of their conversation. Besides, she liked having someone to share in her enthusiasm.Â
âNot just the colors. Everything looks exactly like that, all of the time. Itâs our world. And then your world-â Liv spread her arms, indicating the cityscape- âlooks like this! And I look the way people look here because thatâs what happens when you make a stable jump. Usually I look like... this.â She pulled up a picture of herself. âOh, oh, I havenât seen my own face yet!â She opened the front-facing camera and examined herself. âHm... not bad. What do you think?â

âDuly noted.â Dominator replied, placing a hand upon her hip, á´á´Ęá´Ęá´Ąá´ĘĘá´
ĘĘ á´Ęá´s never leaving the other woman. âI suspected as much - only a đšđđđż wouldnât have some sort of fail safe to prevent someone else activating it so easily.â
âThatâs good to know - I wonât have much to worry about then, will I?â At Doc Ockâs last question, the warlord could only smirk. âNot so much a stranger as aâŚđđđĄđđđĄđđđ đđđđŚ? If youâre so inclined, that is. Iâd much rather đŞÂˇđ¸ÂˇđšÂˇđŚÂˇđ§ÂˇđąÂˇđŽÂˇđ¸Âˇđ¡ đŚÂˇ đˇÂˇđŞÂˇđąÂˇđŚÂˇđšÂˇđŽÂˇđ´ÂˇđłÂˇđ¸Âˇđ¡đŽÂˇđľ here¡, you see - and Iâm certain there are questions you have that only I can answer.â
The villainess waved a hand, electing to take a step back, idly examining her claws. âOf course, the choice is yours. Youâre an ÄąntellÄągent creÎąture - I shouldnât have to tell you which is the more đđđ¸đđśđđžđđ đđ
đđžđđ.â
âI know, right?â It was just common sense, and yet if Kingpin found out heâd probably get all pissy- oh, how dare you, I paid for that collider, itâs mine, yada yada. But without her genius the collider wouldnât exist. âI mean, what if an alien dropped by? Donât want this technology falling into the wrong hands.âÂ
Doc Ock gave Dominator a wide smile, her eyes narrowed in what could be interpreted as either friendliness or suspicion. âIâm always looking for more allies.â That wasnât true- she had an active social life but in her capacity as a supervillain she had previously worked alone- but she was open to allies if the right person came along. This one definitely piqued her interest.Â
The appeal to her ego was more effective than any threat. âNice to meet another one. I think I will give you a tour.â Not of everything, though. She had to keep some secrets.Â

watching the other woman remove parts of her suit, gwen followed her into the living room. â you do realize the only reason we destroyed it was because kingpin was out of control and would have destroyed the city? â she was tired of this game. of being blamed for just wanting to live and go back to her home. it wasnât like doc ock had tried explaining any of this to them, either.Â
â so you want to see the multiverse. â she should have known the doc was lying. why would a supervillain care about reforming? they only did that in movies. â what does that mean for the multiverses youâll visit? â
âThen you shouldâve just destroyed him.â Stripped of all her tech she looked almost normal in a shirt, leggings, and socks. âHis whole plan was stupid. I only went along with it so I could build my collider. Which, by the way, is the only reason you could go home. Yeah, yeah, it brought you to my universe too, but that wasnât my idea. Iâll fess up to being evil and whatnot, but in case you were wondering the displacement resulted from an accident, an idiocy caused by a colleague of mine who is no longer with us. Of course, none of them are with me now.â And that was fine; she never liked Fiskâs crew much and couldnât care less if they were dead or in prison.Â

âWouldnât you? You got to see the fabric that links dimensions, but what about the worlds themselves?â She had that gleam in her eyes she got whenever she spoke about physics. âWell, I miiight see some villainous applications, but Iâm not going to go wiping out entire dimensions. On purpose. I just want to see.â Â
