There is something joyful about working small and with so much color. When I sit down to create these it gives me this little pop of happiness in the middle of my day. And I am finally comfortable with the effort of leaving white space.

Took a slight detour on my way to Lewisburg, WV, today. What a cool find! Spent about an hour exploring this small, sparkling gem of American Railroad History. Already added to the "go here again" list. (at C&O Railway Heritage Center)

Last four of the Mother's Day 12. Sounds like a gang of outlaws, not flowers. Beautifully vased and placed on the shared dresser, a surprise of deepest caring. Humbling Love to my core. (Also a surprise, every day.) Strengthening my spine, shoo'ing away ghosts, demons. I am not his mother, nor the mother of his child. My child, busy nineteen, center of the Universe (as it should be), calls sometime early evening. She leaves a message; thanks me for giving birth to her then briefly visits her life via distance and is gone. A message has to do, this year. There have been years I could not bring myself to phone home, but I managed to do so. There have been years I waited until the nth hour to express whatever gratitude and pleasantries I could muster, then called only to be met by the kitchen answering machine. On the counter, flashing missed call in the dark. This year, I called one and thought long and hard about the other, the other mother. We met when I was 40'ish. 2004 or so.
