Forest House headcanon? If anyone cares?

The Forest House has indoor lighting that matches the Autumn Court aesthetic: hollow tree trunks that glow! Root chandeliers! Fae light mushrooms! Petrified wood lamps!

During lockdown I bought a few beautiful colouring books (by Kerby Rosanes) and some new colouring pencils (of a slightly higher quality than I’ve had before) and I excitedly did the first page and it was fun and low stress and exactly what I needed at the time.

But then I thought I’d have a quick Google to see if anyone had posted their finished pages… and they all looked so beautiful and unique and waaaaaaay better than mine had tuned out.

So, a little disheartened, I chose a reference photo of someone else’s finished page, tuned to my blank corresponding page and started trying to recreate the look using a few different techniques… and, it actually looked amazing! And I loved how the picture was turning out. But it was taking me soooo long to complete because it was so intricate. And I realised that I wasn’t going enjoying the process anymore, I just liked how it looked when I finished a new section.

And in the end, I abandoned the picture and didn’t really continue with any of the books for a few years.

Then, recently, I got ill and had to spend a couple of weeks basically asleep or watching easy stuff on tv. When I finally felt able to get up for a bit, I didn’t have the energy for much, but I decided I would do a little colouring while listening to one of my old favourite audiobooks. And I was poorly and full of medication and didn’t have the energy to be critical of myself and so I just started colouring however I wanted and didn’t let myself get hung up of making it ‘perfect’

And, honestly, it was one of the best, most freeing experiences ever. I ended up blasting through about half the pages and I actually enjoyed the whole experience. They’re not ‘insta’ worthy. They’re not a boast. They’re just something I did because I enjoyed it.

I wish I’d got here sooner. But I’m finally here now.

hey can you do me a favour?? Can you go get that nice pristine sketchbook or journal you've been hoarding and put some kind of mark on the first page? Anything will do, like a smudge of graphite or a blob of ink, or perhaps a very scribbly dinosaur. Just put something there. Please, or the dinosaur will be sad.

I’m all scratched up and I can still taste spray paint in my mouth and my husband almost fell out of a tree BUT THE GHOST SCULPTURES ARE FINISHED!

They’re finally finished and I’m so happy with them!!
