An earlier version of what would become Hydran's story was just him as a paranormal monster hunter. He sort of still does that, but it's wildly secondary to the main objective; charting the web of alternate dimensions.

The main character of the story I've been talking about for the last couple of weeks, Hydran Paulus. No paranormal abilities, just a dude. Only a major player in far more of a scheme of things than necessary because of bizarre happenstance and dumb luck.

Ellis "Lisco" Cobin is a supernatural medic (among other things). He's a potential minor character for the future of a story I have yet to write, and acts as field support for "Varis"... who I don't have a picture of because I've never been happy with how I've drawn him.

Technically, Rhonda is a variation of a dhampir - the Balkan variation of the vampire myth. She's capable of drinking blood to extend her life, but isn't insatiably attracted to blood. Instead, she's drawn to moments of paranormal turmoil to leech off those doomed by the narrative. Something something tolling bell and all that.

Remember that old emoji redraw drawing meme? Yeah, I did a few of those back in the day and only kept a few, but I did have to do a redraw of this one. I cannot get over how inconsistent his appearance used to be in my art 😅

If you were following me way back in the day and remember when I first posted this, you might remember that there was another one with it. That character has since undergone a slight rework (mostly lore-wise), and I'll probably post his in the future.

Don't worry, Aleksius isn't just a sad boy. While not chasing whatever research angle he's on at the moment or wallowing in destructive self-hatred, he's... kept busy. Moonlit as a stripper and pole-dancer, blacklisted from bartending more than once from getting railed by patrons, and just. He's a wildly horny submissive bottom who's pansexual and uses that to his deepest advantage, having been fucked by pretty much everyone in the tri-state area at this point. Y'all didn't think I had a soft spot for him just for sad reasons, did ye?

On paper, Aleksius has it made. Graduated with top honors, credited in several scientific journals pioneering his world's understanding of genetics and the mechanisms of aging, and retiring early. In reality, he's always felt a rift between him and those around him, starting with his own parents. This has fueled a thick wall of misanthropy that keeps others at bay and Aleksius critically isolated. The few people who've somehow gotten past that - including the one woman he ever fell in love with - have all left him on either a sour note or without a warning. Additionally, he's chased countless possibilities towards understanding how to effectively halt the process of aging and ensure eternal cellular regeneration, but every path he's gone down has been a dead end. He's run out of scientific ideas and has been turning more and more to pseudoscience and occultism, but so far, still no luck. He doesn't think about most of this often, but when he does, all of this combines into a crushing self-hatred.
