Unpopular opinion. But why do people need to write with hundreds of writers as the same character?

DUPLICATES VS. EXCLUSIVE.

Think about it. Some may argue it's because different people bring different things to the table, or that everyone deserves a fair chance. But in the end---it's mixing story lines and getting confused with those people, not remembering who the other was, not remembering interactions and a lot of people (myself included) change usernames a lot, which leads others to thinking they have been writing with a lot of different writers, when it has indeed been one or two, usually one.

I'll never forget what spurred exclusivity on. I was writing as a character, and the writer literally was carrying on our storyline with another version of that character leaving both writers confused and irritated. And I said, never again. And when I approached the writer--their response was, oh, sorry, I thought it was okay since it was just a duplicate.

Why it's greedy: The confusion, is a big one. Another is that in the end, you just don't need all of those duplicates. I firmly believe anyone should be able to write as whoever they want to write, but the line should be drawn if people get inspiration from other portrayals and use them. Whether it be headcanons, or writing that sounds similar, things like that. It takes two seconds to go to someone and ASK. Otherwise, it becomes who is the copycat, and a lot of griping and unnecessary things.

Which is why exclusivity is a choice--it's not to force anyone to do ANYTHING, it is a choice. But it also comes down to respect of storylines, zero hurt feelings, and zero drama.

So in the end, many people can write whoever they want to, more power to them, I have friends that do this---but there are other people involved, it's not just you or your blog, respect is free. This is a PSA to anyone in RP, honestly, not just Resident Evil in which I have been here...lord, since I was fourteen through good and bad and dealt with crazy person after crazy person.

Don't be selfish, don't make excuses and most certainly don't expect lasting friendships if someone acts like this. Do what you want. Write how you want. As for there being many writers of Rain over the years, it's literally just been me and rarely, a friend of mine or someone new here and there. So as far as anything being stolen, it was literally mine to begin with because it was me.

I've written with COUNTLESS Alice's over the years, but now I just stick to one. Why? Because the storylines bled into each other, because it got confusing, because people got hurt, and I find myself stress free with just one portrayal, I don't need two or three or 4000 of them because I adore the character. I respect the writer, I respect the storylines.

All in all, don't be a dick.
