Sky Storm stared over the sprawling new land of trees and mountains, excited to have finally been able to set off on her own. Her mother Cinder Cloud and her father Ash Rain would have been so proud of her. She thought of them longingly for a moment before lifting her head and tasting the air, excited to get her first scent of prey.

As Sky Storm wandered through the trees, she knelt at a stream to take a sip of water at the river's edge. She couldn't ignore the rumbling in her belly, and she knew it would be time to catch some prey. Her mouth watered at the thought of a nice juicy rabbit or tearing the flesh from a bit of mule deer.
A flurry of smells were overwhelming her senses, but she could quite clearly taste the scent of rabbit in the air. Excitedly, she leapt to her paws and began to chase the trail. However, as she began to give chase, her heart sunk as she could smell the scent of coyote mingled in with the rabbit scent. She halted, her lip curling in an annoyed snarl. Stupid coyotes. They were never any match for wolves, but she learned very quickly not to discount them. She remembered back when she was just a pup and sometimes the coyotes would try to sneak into their densite and try to snag her or her siblings. She shivered at the far memory and clawed at the ground in frustration. There was no way she would reach the rabbit first.

As she wandered through the area, her ears pricked in curiosity and amusement as she stared at something off in the distance. Sky Storm stared nervously for a moment. Was this some sort of trap laid by the Peltpeelers? Ash Rain would tell her and her siblings about the traps they would set to catch unsuspecting wolves in, and the thought had always terrified her. But as she looked at this amalgamation of wood, she couldn't help but snort with amusement. What sort of rabbit-brain would fall for something like that? Still, she was hesitant, and avoided it.
That was, until she caught the scent of a tangy, sharp smell. Curiosity was getting the better of her. She padded cautiously down the slope towards the smell and she could no longer ignore the rumbling in her belly. She blinked as she suddenly came across a fish lying in the grass. She gulped the fish down quickly before running away from the Peltpeeler's trap.

Sky Storm still felt a panging hunger deep in her belly though, and knew that the fish would not be enough to satisfy her. She had to keep going. Learning how to provide for herself, her future mate, and future pups was important above all else. She wandered away from the Peltpeeler trap and continued back up towards the mountain, her nose twitching as she sniffed the air for scent of prey. Finally, there it was. Pure and undeniable rabbit. She let her instincts take over and raced after the trail. The trail grew warmer and more fresh. Sky Storm could practically feel the rabbit in her jaws. Then she could see it. Then she was sinking her jaws into its throat. It gave a sharp squeal as her jaws closed around its throat. She gave it a sharp shake, killing it instantly, and placed it on the ground in front of her. Sky Storm scarfed down the prey, relishing the warm taste that filled her mouth. In three bites, the rabbit was gone.

She couldn't contain her excitement and opened her jaw to let out a loud, resounding howl across the forest. Some part of her hoped that some wolf, far away, would even hear her and know what she had just accomplished.

Sky Storm listened intently for any response, but heard nothing. She shrugged and turned away, eager to explore the new world that lay in front of her.
