first of all, i absolutely love what you're doing with the backwards names!! second of all, did you name niro that on purpose, or was it a happy accident? did you make niro knowing he would be orin's other half or were you discovering that aspect of the dark urge storyline as you played? he is So Character and you have such a Grasp on his dynamic with orin. endlessly fascinated. love all of this. thank you for sharing with us.

I did name Niro that on purpose! I didn't have his relationship with Orin completely figured out back then, but I knew I wanted to situate them as two halves of a whole. The two of them would look upon their mirrored names as a sign they were created for one another, and so it felt like a very natural leap from there to them giving their twins mirrored names as well.

THE HEIR APPARENT

Neora is the elder twin born to Niro and Orin, marked since youth by her father's physical prowess and her mother's gift of shapeshifting. Her energetic violence is tempered only by her devotion to her family and her love of the working dogs and horses she keeps on the cult's land. Industrious, stoic, and relentlessly active, Neora finds great comfort in the routines of day to day life on the cult compound, where she has chosen to take on far more manual responsibilities than would normally be expected of one of the members of the divine family.

Neora is nothing if not loyal to her family and their holy mission to paint the world in blood, but her greatest bond of all is to Aroen—her twin and her love—for whom she reserves a particular kind of worship.

Niro's Cult: Relevant Background Lore Summary

As I said in the previous post, I've got a story to tell, but I am not one of those people that can create a narrative work of writing, art, or any combination thereof by starting at the beginning and continuing until I reach the end. (Those people terrify and impress me.) What I do is jump around. So you can expect to see scattershot bits and pieces from all over the timeline.

The following is a bare-bones summary of the situation, so that we're all on the same page about what's going on here. This'll get linked in my pinned post. The information here is very "pure facts with no context on explanations or motivations"—that'll all come out in the art and writing to come. That being said, I (clearly) don't believe in spoilers, so if you wanna know how or why a certain event came about, just send an ask :)

Niro eats the noblestalk, regains memories of Orin, and leaves the BG3 party to return to her.

Abandoned by his erstwhile lover and companion, Astarion ascends.

In the meantime, the rest of the BG3 party kills Ketheric, Gortash, and Sarevok. As an act of self-preservation, recognizing the Absolute plot is on its way to ruin, Orin surreptitiously abandons her netherstone to be claimed by the party. The party defeats the Netherbrain.

After laborious atonement on Niro’s part, he earns his way back into Orin’s good graces.

Niro and Orin resume their relationship.

The rest of the members of the Temple of Bhaal slowly begin to blame Orin and Niro for the turbulent events that surrounded the failure of the Absolute plot.

Orin’s latent guilt over the betrayal metastasizes into a belief that Niro is a divine being deserving of worship in his own right.

Orin begins to regularly consume Niro’s blood as a form of communion with his divine essence. Partaking in so much of his blood does actually transfuse some of his divine power to her: Orin stops physically aging, though they do not recognize this has happened until later.

As public sentiment at the Temple of Bhaal continues to turn against Orin and Niro, they begin planning to abandon the temple and start anew elsewhere.

Money left to Niro by the priest who served as his jailor—and who chose Niro as the sole beneficiary in his will, a fact Niro learned about shortly after his escape but refused to deal with until this point—finances the secret construction of a cult compound of Orin’s design in the Neverwinter Woods.

Niro and Orin massacre the cultists at the Temple of Bhaal, sparing only a small handful of individuals they know to be loyal to the two of them. This coterie follows them to their rural compound and reforms as a cult dedicated to Niro. Bhaal tolerates this because of the group’s ongoing success at murder and the fact that worship of Niro is little more than worship of Bhaal with extra steps.

The Niro cult takes root and begins to slowly increase its numbers.

Niro and Orin begin trying to have children. The first few don’t work out too well.

Orin gives birth to a pair of twins: Neora and Aroen. The twins grow up in the cult, raised to believe that they share their father’s divine essence, that they were born to be predators in a world of prey.

As adults, Neora and Aroen follow in their parents’ footsteps, becoming lovers.

Announcement, Content Warning, & Statement of Intent

After a while floating around in various points of Ghost/Niro's life across multiple timelines, I've finally landed on one particular story that I want to tell. That's my project in the works: piecing together a narrative that traces decades of his life after he came crawling back to Orin following the betrayal. I am not one of those people that can create a narrative work of writing, art, or any combination thereof by starting at the beginning and continuing until I reach the end. There will soon be another post with a loose summary I'll link here; we'll start on the same page about the basic facts, and then I'll be filling in the details piece by piece, in no particular order, in art and writing.

This is a horror story. This (eventually pinned) post is a warning for forthcoming explicit portrayals and discussions of incest, grooming, and other deeply unhealthy family dynamics, in addition to the expected Dark-Urge-typical violence and sex. Everything to which this content warning applies will be tagged with "niro family cult". A lot of this will not be surprising given the art and writing I've created so far; nevertheless, as things will only get worse from here, it felt worth putting up a warning. If you don't want to see worse, now's a good time to bail out.

I am working with this subject matter on purpose. I am doing so because I am telling a horror story, because I reject the common heuristic that the beautiful is the good, and because I'm interested in art that compels the viewer to experience disgust, fear, or moral outrage alongside arousal, awe, or delight.

Historically, certain circumstances—namely social isolation, belief in bloodline purity, and desire to keep power within a family—have tended to incentivize consanguinous relationships. These relationships are also robustly represented among global mythology. This is the context from which Niro's story draws.

The gist of it is: I've spent a while playing with scattered little moments throughout a couple timelines of Ghost/Niro's life, and now I have one very big unified story that I want to tell about him, Orin, and their eventual offspring. I'm pathologically incapable of telling stories from beginning to end, so it'll be coming in bits and pieces, but it'll be coming.

I really appreciate the interest! The short answer is maybe.

The long answer is that I'm not really looking to make money off my art. Art is something I do for my own personal enjoyment, and I'm really only interested in making art that I know I'll enjoy making, which at this point is pretty much just art of Ghost/Niro, Orin, etc. As far as that cluster of characters goes, if by chance you want me to draw something specific featuring them, honestly, just send me an ask, and there's a pretty good chance I'll do it just for fun. To talk about commissions of anything or anyone else, you're welcome to send me a DM, though to be entirely honest, it's fairly likely I'll turn down commission requests to draw other characters. LITERALLY!!! LMAO I love how many people were apparently quite invested in Slayer Niro's genitals. This rocks. OKAY SO here's the breakdown:

The reproductive penis, which sits behind the sensory penis, is the closest analogue to a standard human penis, and it performs the same basic functions: urination, sexual pleasure, and insemination during penetrative sex. Unlike a human penis, Niro's reproductive penis retracts into a small internal sheath when flaccid, and he lacks a scrotum, as his testicles are also internal.

The sensory penis, which is in front of the reproductive penis, is arguably closer to a clitoris than a true penis. Penises in general are anatomical homologs of clitorises, but Niro's sensory penis is like a clitoris in that sexual pleasure is its primary function; it's extremely sensitive and capable of multiple forms of intercourse (more on this in a second). This penis is also stored in an internal sheath. The sensory penis becomes erect with arousal, but its erections only very slightly change its length; it can be fully erect and remain sheathed, with only an inch or two of the tip of the penis visible externally. Due to the tapered shape of the sensory penis, the opening of the sheath is larger than the tip of the sensory penis in order to comfortably accommodate the base of the penis when it's extended. When this penis is sheathed, the external sheath structure has a vulva-like appearance, with the penis tip sitting towards the front of the slit-shaped opening of the sheath.

This penis also doesn't become much firmer when erect: most of its tissue has a gel-like texture, so it's rather soft, squishy, and floppy even when erect, though it does have a muscular internal channel that give it some structure and a small amount of motility. The sensory penis is extended or retracted from the sheath via internal musculature, and the inside of the sheath is a mucous membrane that produces a natural lubricant for this movement, which keeps the sensory penis quite slimy.

The sensory penis has a slit at the tip that looks externally like a urethra, but which is actually a stretchy opening into the muscular internal channel. That channel is structurally like a vaginal canal running through the core of the penis. The interior of that channel is a mucous membrane (also quite slimy!) lined with small sensitive tendrils. Because this channel is stretchy and the penis itself is not rigid, one can penetrate it; the internal tendrils add an interesting texture to the experience. Whenever the penis is sheathed, it's also possible to penetrate the sheath itself. While the sensory penis can penetrate other orifices, it works best for fairly loose orifices because of how soft it is.

As to the fun question, how to get them out to play: that's easy for the reproductive penis, as whenever it's erect, it's out of its sheath! Because the extension/retraction of the sensory penis occurs separately from its erections, it can be extended/retracted from the sheath at will. Niro tends to have it out during sex unless he knows his partner intends to penetrate the sheath itself, for which it needs to be sheathed to create space in the sheath opening.

For the person doing the penetrating, fucking the sheath opening feels like fucking a large, relaxed, and very lubricated vagina; the stimulation of penetration against the outer surface of the sheathed penis is quite pleasurable to Niro. Fucking the inner channel of the sensory penis feels like fucking a smaller, grippier, very lubricated vagina or anus, albeit with an added squirming sensation from the movement of the sensory tendrils; Niro finds this the most pleasurable way to be penetrated in slayer form.
